Chapter 7: Chapter 7
"I don’t know. Master has his own plans, we just handle what he’s entrusted to us."
"If he needed us with him, he would have brought us without being asked."
Bruce scratched his head.
"Hehe, true, but I still worry about Master’s safety. If someone bullies him, I should be there to take the beating for him!"
Arnold nearly fell flat on his face. "Master is a genuine Lower-Tier Demon Emperor, the second Great Emperor of the Endless Demonic Domain. Aside from the Upper-Tier Great Demon Emperor himself, who could possibly bully him?"
Bruce looked out over the field of corpses and blood, chuckled, and said no more.
Soren shot through the spatial corridor and emerged above a prosperous land, holding himself steady in midair.
Wind tugged at his black robes, his ink-black hair streamed like layered flames, from thousands of meters up, an endless expanse of black palaces stretched beneath him.
The Endless Demonic Domain was divided into seventy-two demonic realms, each governed by a Demon Venerable.
The Great Demon Emperor’s six children, like his subordinates, each ruled a realm of their own.
Soren’s territory was the Ice Heaven Demonic Realm, the smallest and most remote of all seventy-two.
The land below him now was the Shadow Heaven Demonic Realm, domain of the Great Demon Emperor’s third son. Abel.
The sprawling structure beneath his feet was the Shadow Heaven Demonic Palace.
When Demon Emperor experts tore through the void, they usually left no trace.
Soren did the opposite, the moment he appeared, he let his aura crash down over the palace like a tidal wave.
Countless experts leaped up in alarm and swarmed out to surround him.
All served the Shadow Heaven Demonic Palace, and the important ones had long reached the Lower-Tier or Middle-Tier Demon Venerable realm.
They glared at him like tigers eyeing prey, every nerve on edge.
"You’re Soren!?"
"How... How can he be a Lower-Tier Demon Emperor?"
Panic spread through the demons, legs trembled, feet shuffled backward.
A Lower-Tier Demon Emperor was not something they could fight head-on.
It would be eggs against stone.
The Azure Spirit World held many races, but nearly all divided strength the same way.
Six realms: Mortal, Master, Elder, King, Venerable, Emperor.
Each split into Lower, Middle, and Upper tiers.
The gap between tiers was tens or hundreds of times.
The gap between realms, thousands.
Against Soren, these Lower and Middle-Tier Demon Venerables were ants staring up at an elephant, that was no exaggeration.
The crowd exchanged glances, utterly lost.
Was this really Soren? Wasn’t he a Lower-Tier Demon Venerable? If not for his status as the Great Demon Emperor’s sixth son, he wouldn’t even qualify to govern a realm.
Just yesterday, everyone had been laughing over his disowning, betting human cultivators would hunt him down and leave nothing behind.
Today he stood before them as a Lower-Tier Demon Emperor.
What the hell? Heaven didn’t toy with people like this.
Soren didn’t waste his breath, killing them was child’s play.
Wherever he passed, corpses fell like rain and detonations rolled like thunder.
The stench of blood soaked the air thick enough to choke on, and fear multiplied with every breath.
The demons were beyond terrified, the Soren they remembered was a soft, harmless coward whose greatest fear was the sight of blood.
The man before them sneered as he wove through the crimson mist, killing faster and more viciously by the second, bursting heads and piercing throats. It was horrifying.
The commotion drew the attention of the palace’s lord.
Abel, third son of the Great Demon Emperor, unfurled wings of demonic energy, tore through the palace, and arrived in the sky above his palace.
One sweep of his gaze and his pupils shrank to pinpricks, then he found the source, and froze.
His trash little brother, Soren.
How could it be Soren?
Anyone else, and Abel could have made sense of it, Soren was the one exception his mind refused to accept.
"Lower-Tier Demon Emperor!"
That made even less sense, the Endless Demonic Domain’s destiny had been drained dry supporting one Demon Emperor, how could a second one simply appear?
"You are not Soren! Who are you really?"
Demons and humans alike had methods to alter their appearance, even if none lasted long, Abel was certain the man before him was not the Soren he knew.
A chilling light filled Soren’s eyes, he raised one hand and squeezed the empty air, and Abel froze mid-motion, locked in place.
Space sealed shut for ten thousand meters in every direction.
The Demon Venerables who rushed in to save their lord had their bodies twisted and detonated the instant they crossed the boundary, painting the sky with blood.
After that, not one demon dared take another half-step, the air pressed down on everyone like a mountain.
Abel panicked. "You... what are you going to do?"
Demonic energy wove itself into a cage around him, he hung inside it like a trapped bird.
"Soren! Release him immediately!"
A woman riding a golden demonic bird came flying out of the Shadow Heaven Demonic Palace.
"Alice." Soren said the name softly.
Something complicated crossed Alice’s face, something closer to anxiety.
She didn’t know how Soren had become a Lower-Tier Demon Emperor overnight, but if this really was Soren, he would listen to her, he always had.
It was precisely because the old Soren tolerated her again and again that she had dared carry on with Abel in the open.
Just thinking about it made Soren’s teeth ache.
Whatever, looking at her makes me sick, better to kill her fast and be rid of the eyesore.
"Soren, I command you to release the Third Demon Venerable this instant... that is, if you still want me as your wife!"
She thought she understood him, with his temper, words like that should have made him swallow everything, the way he always did.
Things did not go the way she thought.
A cold sneer curled Soren’s mouth, he flicked out one finger and blew her throat apart.
Shattered bone and mangled flesh sprayed backward in a bloom of blood, gorgeous as fireworks.
Alice stared at him, eyes stretched to splitting, her life began slipping away like thread from a coil.
