Chapter 37: Chapter 37
So this was the demon’s room, quite tidy, but he had prepared a bathtub in advance, was he really going to devour her clean tonight?
Inside, Lysara was screaming no, she had never considered doing such a thing with a man, least of all a demon she found abhorrent.
She had thought agreeing to obey orders meant working for him, who knew it would include this.
Soren uncrossed his legs, stood, and walked toward herm Lysara’s whole body went rigid.
"Soren, I am a human Empress, since I nodded and agreed, then even if I am a hundred times unwilling, I will still do it."
"This is my principle."
Their relationship had already lit Obedient and Submissive, the arrogant iceberg of before was gone.
She began washing the dried blood from her body, for Lysara, who had kept herself pure all her life, the process was torture, cut by slow cut.
When she stepped out of the crystal tub, she felt as if floating on clouds, the Extreme Yin Holy Body was a miracle.
Not a single scar remained, her skin was hydrated and radiant, delicate and firm, ice-like skin, jade-like bones, a figure of natural grace, no phrase did her body justice.
However grave her injuries, the Extreme Yin Holy Body restored her in the shortest time possible, no one could envy it.
Standing before Soren, Lysara was a slice of cake, sweet enough to make his mouth water.
There was only one piece, better to eat it himself than leave it for anyone else.
Soren took a bite.
About two hours later, the blockhead’s voice boomed from outside. "Master, Bruce has something to report!"
Son of a bitch.
"I’m busy right now, don’t bother me!"
"It’s not that, Master, that Spirit guy looks like he’s losing his mind."
"I was afraid his shouting would ruin Master’s good mood."
"But Master said no one is allowed into that room except you."
"Otherwise I’d have rushed in and given him one hammer, brains everywhere, and he’d be nice and quiet!"
Has Jared gone berserk?
The soundproofing of Soren’s room was excellent, unless someone used a formation to transmit sound from the doorway, nothing outside could be heard, compared to Jared’s shouting, this blockhead’s worry was pointless, his arrival was what ruined the mood.
Still, Soren’s plan needed a Spirit army. It wouldn’t do for Jared and Ethel to die here.
"Wait for me in the room." He dropped the sentence, pulled the bed curtains closed, and walked out.
So much for a human Empress, she held her voice back so stubbornly at the start, didn’t she cooperate in the end anyway?
Inside the room, Lysara muttered "damn it" over and over, not at Soren, at herself.
A dignified human Empress, sworn to an eternal feud with the demon race, now forced to become that demon Soren’s... Lysara, you are cursed.
Agreeing to obey his orders was one thing, actually losing herself in it, forgetting the oaths she had sworn.
Soren stopped outside the room holding Jared and Ethel, one wave of his hand opened the formation and the stone door.
Ethel lunged out and clung to him in terror.
He caught the stench of blood, a downward glance found her arms torn open, slashed by sharp claws, three gashes on each arm, bone-deep, a bloody mess.
"My brother is having an episode."
"Please help me stop my brother."
"I beg you."
"Please don’t kill him"
She looked up at him with brimming eyes, that small, pitiful face would have made anyone’s heart ache.
"Bruce, knock him out, don’t take his life."
"Rest assured, Master, I’ll be very gentle!" Bruce thumped his chest.
One second later, a crazed Jared burst from the room, eyes bright red, going for Bruce’s throat with his teeth.
Bruce brought the hammer down.
Jared flew, he smashed into the far wall, eyes rolling back, out cold, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.
Ethel gripped the hem of Soren’s clothes, her fear turned to shock, and her shock to worry, that hammer didn’t kill him, did it?
Bruce admired his masterpiece, walked over, and checked Jared’s pulse, his face soured. "Uh, Master, he... seems to be... looks like... anyway, he should still be alive."
Soren had no words, he was a Middle-Tier Demon Emperor, of course he could see the blockhead had botched his control.
"The truth."
"His internal organs are slightly shifted."
Soren had his doubts about slightly.
"My brother... is he really okay?"
"It’s not a big problem," Soren said.
"That’s good." Ethel exhaled as if a boulder had rolled off her back and hurried to wipe the tears from her eyes.
Soren glared at Bruce, Bruce chuckled and scratched his head, studying the floor.
Jared’s actual condition was obviously a good deal worse than not a big problem.
"Demon Emperor, my brother... he’s truly not in danger, right?" Ethel asked again, unable to settle.
"Don’t worry, he won’t die." Soren signaled Bruce to feed him healing spiritual fluid, and turned to leave.
A new title had lit on the strategy panel.
Ethel’s affection had soared, her tier breaking straight past Obedient and Submissive into Deep Affection and Righteousness.
Just because he’d had Bruce stop her berserk brother and spared some healing fluid?
So tier elevation didn’t rest on the strategy method alone, it correlated with the target’s strength, cognition, and experience.
His progress with Victoria and Lysara ran slow because both held Emperor-level strength, their Dao Hearts and willpower firm.
Ethel was an absolute little cutie by comparison, King-level strength, limited horizons.
Pure as a snowflake, she had seen so little of the world that she didn’t understand how sinister it was.
Conquering her was easier than anyone else, all Soren had to do was help Jared, what counted as a trifle in his eyes sent her loyalty soaring.
He looked at her with interest, she looked back, nervous.
"Demon Emperor, the matter I begged of you... are you willing to agree?" She meant sparing Jared, in exchange for Spirit blood fifteen times a year and warming his bed.
"I can spare his life."
"Really? That’s wonderful, I thank the Demon Emperor!" Joy flooded her face, her eyes full of gratitude.
