Chapter 21: Chapter 21

On the chest of the dress sat a totem, Inside the totem was Soren’s name.

[Heavenly Dao Demonic Form, successfully activated.]

[The Heavenly Dao Demonic Form’s ability is Devour. It devours all energy under heaven. It can absorb blood, absorb bone, absorb anything of use.]

Soren’s eyes lit up, he hadn’t expected the Strategy Encyclopedia to come with an ability this miraculous, tailor-made for his identity, at that.

He was curious about the other five, none were activated, but he pulled their information anyway.

[The Hell Demonic Form’s ability is Fatal Illusion. It drags victims into hellish torment to grind down their will, ravage their minds, and collapse their Dao Hearts.]

[The Hungry Ghost Demonic Form’s ability is Summon. It captures the remnant souls of the dead. Through a single wisp, it can call up the complete soul, forge it an energy body with demonic energy, and pry loose the secrets of its lifetime. If the soul can be conquered, it can serve as a fighting force.]

[The Beast Demonic Form’s ability is Mutation. It can steer the evolution of the beast race, and raise or restrict the tier of their bloodlines.]

[The Asura Demonic Form’s ability is Charm. It turns opponents into puppets, once the talisman appears between their brows, the puppet loses its original will.]

[The Human Demonic Form’s ability is Healing. It mends the wounds of oneself and others, no pills or spiritual fluids required.]

Soren was thoroughly satisfied, develop the Six Paths Form Diagram to its limit and he would be unstoppable, the very first form to activate happened to be the Heavenly Dao, with Devour, right when he needed to recover demonic energy.

Now he wanted to know the conditions for triggering and converting the forms.

The Encyclopedia answered promptly.

[Echoing Master’s needs and consciousness, the demonic forms can be activated at any time.]

[Each ability carries restrictions on duration and daily frequency.]

[Every demonic form possesses a Conversion Degree.]

[The higher the Conversion Degree, the shorter the cooldown, the more uses per day, and the stronger and longer-lasting the effects.]

Following the Encyclopedia’s guidance, Soren looked above the Heavenly Dao Demonic Form’s head, a number hung there.

[Conversion Degree: 1]

One, what could one do?

The Encyclopedia echoed his thought and supplied another passage.

[The key to raising the Conversion Degree is Salvation.]

[The Six Paths Form Diagram is a prison of a peculiar kind, to ease their suffering and receive their power, you must first convert them into demonic forms.]

[When the Conversion Degree reaches its maximum, the Outer Dao chains binding the six Dao Lords will vanish as well.]

[At its root, this is a process of assimilation, and of salvation.]

Saving imprisoned divine maidens, this joke was not funny at all.

Soren settled himself and read on.

[The degree of salvation dictates how quickly the demonic form returns power. The Conversion Degree likewise equals the degree of ability liberation.]

[The process of saving the demonic forms is Master’s process of cultivation.]

Soren took out the spiritual fruit he had traded from Victoria and activated Devour with a thought.

Pure energy rushed into his palm, coursed through hundreds of demonic meridians great and small, and settled into his Dantian.

So fast.

Direct devouring, converted straight into the demonic energy he needed, then devouring blood and bone should strengthen his blood essence and marrow too.

What a beautiful ability, it skipped the entire chore of cultivating techniques.

At a Conversion Degree of one, his devouring speed already matched the cultivation speed of an Upper-Tier Demon Venerable.

If the conversion ever maxed out, how fast would it be then?

Excitement made it hard to think straight, Soren cut off the absorption and descended with Bruce into the ancient forest below.

He set Bruce on watch and turned his full attention to the demonic form.

The earlier absorption had only been a test. In truth, it recovered next to nothing, his Dantian still held about thirty percent of its demonic energy, Soren decided to invest twenty percent into the demonic form, curious how much Conversion it would buy.

The thought became action immediately.

Injecting demonic energy felt exactly like cultivating, to Bruce, it simply looked like his master sitting in meditation.

Half an hour passed.

The holy aura around the Heavenly Dao Demonic Form thinned further, wisps of demonic energy with a wet black sheen coiled over her body.

The demonic dress wrapped around her grew more substantial, her skin glimmering jade-white through drifting silk.

The dress’s changes were a mark of the conversion advancing, her agony had faded, replaced by soft, soundless panting, set against the other five women still writhing in their chains, the difference was stark.

Soren checked the number above her head, from 1 to 17, fast progress.

The Strategy Encyclopedia promptly poured cold water on him.

The speed owed itself to the potency of his Lower-Tier Demon Emperor energy, once the Heavenly Dao Demonic Form acclimated to that intensity, the salvation would slow.

To keep the pace, Soren would have to keep raising his own realm.

Fortunately, at Conversion 17, the form’s devouring speed already met the standard of a Lower-Tier Demon Emperor, twice a day, no less than two hours per session.

Soren spent the next two hours draining the spiritual fruit to the last drop, his demonic energy refilled, and something more, he brushed against a new threshold.

One more suitable opportunity, one good jolt of energy, and he had an eighty percent chance of stepping into the ranks of the Middle-Tier Demon Emperors.

His arm flicked, and the vial of Holy Nectar appeared in his hand.

To ordinary cultivators, human or demon, the Holy Nectar granted no strength. It only extended life and replenished vitality.

To Soren, it was fuel, he could convert its energy straight into the demonic energy he needed.

His philosophy on this never wavered, however rare, however precious an item might be, if it wasn’t spent improving himself, it was no better than toilet paper.

Time trickled past.

Then energy like lightning wound with flame began to bleed out of him, the air warped inch by inch, the distortion rolling outward for hundreds of miles.

At last, with a low roar from Soren, his Dantian swelled beyond its limits, and his realm vaulted straight into Middle-Tier Demon Emperor.

Demonic might coiled around him, drinking all the energy from ten thousand miles in every direction, swallowing the deep mountains and old forest whole.
