Chapter 15: Chapter 15
"I see all your work, and all your loyalty."
"If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have gone out of my way to find the Holy Nectar for you."
"Now, I think we can go."
Soren turned to leave, and then a wave of demonic pressure came pouring down into the bowl-shaped mountain like a collapsing tide.
The aura of a Demon Emperor, not just any Demon Emperor, an Upper-Tier Demon Emperor.
The entire Endless Demonic Domain had exactly one of those, the master of the Great Demonic Palace, Vorian, but Soren knew with certainty that this aura did not belong to him.
A figure surfaced in his mind, a breathtaking woman, fair skin, full curves, a waist you could close one hand around, he knew exactly who this was.
Victoria, ruler of the Violet Jade Immortal Domain, what was she doing here, at the Ten Thousand Demons Cliff?
It felt wrong, too much coincidence.
The cliff’s terrible reputation was over a hundred thousand years old.
An Upper-Tier Demon Emperor like Victoria would have visited long ago, yet she chose this precise moment to come again.
Something was off.
Soren kept a thread of vigilance, Victoria’s demonic might was outrageous, but he felt no panic.
Set aside the question of whether he had a way to conquer Victoria.
The World-Destroying Demonic Lotus was already his, that alone was capital enough to make even an Upper-Tier Demon Emperor step back.
Seven or eight breaths later, a purple light crashed down like a meteor, lighting up the entire floor of the cliff.
A woman in a tight dress appeared before Soren and Arnold.
A faintly visible purple breeze, thick with fragrance, coiled around her tall figure, her hair drifted and danced like fire.
Her arrival stunned the whole cavern, the very air seemed to freeze.
Soren met her eyes, he had to admit it, this was a woman of devastating charm, flawless face, flawless figure, blood-red eyes, crimson lips, curves that invited endless imagination.
He was also perfectly clear on one point, however beautiful Victoria was, she ate men alive.
Let her looks pull your thoughts somewhere improper, let it show on your face, and you would be leaving this world in the very next second.
Soren sifted his memories and pulled up what he knew.
As the Great Demon Emperor’s sixth son, he had seen Victoria exactly once, at a grand occasion.
They hadn’t exchanged a word, given the gulf in status, he had stood very far away, even that distant glimpse had left him dazed for a long time after.
He had heard that Victoria had killed many people, so many that no one could count them.
Victoria was a demoness in the truest sense, calling her the demon among demons would not be an overstatement.
She was too strong, so strong that no human powerhouse dared pick a fight with her.
So long as she didn’t bring trouble to them, the human factions lit incense behind closed doors in gratitude.
Great Demon Emperors of every domain bowed and yielded the road when they met her.
And yet this reigning demoness insisted on styling herself the Enchanting Immortal, and liked above all things to be called a fairy.
Call her a fairy, and depending on her mood, she might spare you, call her a demon, and you died, without exception.
Beautiful things carry the deadliest danger, Victoria was that proverb made flesh.
In a blink, she released his gaze, her blood-red eyes swept the cavern and her expression stiffened.
She hadn’t found the World-Destroying Demonic Lotus, her gaze came back to Soren, because there was nowhere else for it to go.
"You’re Vorian’s sixth son, aren’t you? We’ve met?"
Her voice was wicked, bewitching, and cold as a knife’s edge, mature, impossibly alluring.
Facing an expert of this caliber, Soren didn’t flinch, he offered a faint smile. "I’ve severed the father-son relationship with him."
A flicker of surprise crossed Victoria’s face, then vanished, whatever had passed between Soren and Vorian was no concern of hers.
"You plucked the World-Destroying Demonic Lotus?"
"That’s right." No point hiding it, the Lotus was a superweapon fit to deter Great Demon Emperors, and he wanted her to know he held it.
Victoria said nothing, she simply stared at him.
She seemed to be trying to solve him, how had Soren broken through to the Lower-Tier Emperor realm out of nowhere? And how had he claimed the legendary Lotus so easily?
"The sentience in the Resentment Spring outside... that was you as well?"
Soren dipped his chin.
That earned genuine wonder.
"Impressive, even I would not claim absolute confidence in erasing that resentment spirit."
Soren had managed it because he knew the core and struck straight at it, without a strategy, it was genuinely difficult.
That didn’t mean Victoria truly couldn’t do it, she had simply never wanted to.
The spring couldn’t stop her, so why waste the effort?
Her praise was sincere, she was honestly surprised.
It was just that a Great Demon Emperor’s Dao heart sat far too steady to show shock.
And since Soren armed with the World-Destroying Demonic Lotus counted as dangerous, Victoria had no intention of trading words for long.
She stood in silence, waiting.
Soon, three panting Upper-Tier Demon Venerables arrived on her trail.
The moment they landed, the three Great Demon Venerables of the Violet Jade Immortal Domain fell over themselves to fawn.
"Truly worthy of the Fairy Great Demon Emperor, your speed is simply too fast!"
"Yes! The three of us nearly ran ourselves to death, and even burning our lives we couldn’t match a ten-thousandth of the Fairy Great Demon Emperor’s pace."
"I was just wondering why the Resentment Spring outside hadn’t stirred! Of course, the Fairy Great Demon Emperor must have suppressed it for us!"
"Hm? The World-Destroying Demonic Lotus is gone as well, could it be that Lord Fairy has already claimed it?"
"Congratulations, Fairy Great Demon Emperor! Congratulation! With the Lotus in hand, our Violet Jade Immortal Domain will reign supreme across the Exalted Continent!"
Victoria spared the three of them a light glance.
