Chapter 32: Chapter 32

Desolate Sword’s eyes were full of incomprehension. Chief Eunuch Allen’s gaze had clearly been brimming with wariness.

Judging by the situation, the advantage should have been theirs, he had not expected his Sect Master Senior Brother to choose compromise.

The Sword Sect Master glanced at Desolate Sword and could not help but shake his head. This junior brother, radiating righteous aura from head to toe, was indeed a rare and excellent seedling.

But what is too rigid breaks easily. If he did not temper this temperament, he would suffer a great loss sooner or later.

"Junior Brother, this is but a wisp of my divine soul. What Chief Eunuch Allen fears is the behemoth that is the Sword Sect, not this divine soul of mine."

"If Allen had attacked with full strength, I am afraid this divine soul, along with all of you, would have been destroyed by his hands."

"What? That Chief Eunuch Allen actually possesses such peerless profound techniques?" 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Desolate Sword could barely steady his body.

In that flash of light just moments ago, he had felt a power capable of destroying heaven and earth. He never expected his Sect Master Senior Brother to say Allen had not even used his full strength.

Could this person’s cultivation truly have reached such a heaven-reaching level? Just how unfathomably profound was the Silver Willow Imperial Family’s foundation, that a single person walking out from it would possess such invincible momentum?

The Sword Sect Master stood suspended in the air, the corners of his Daoist robe flapping in the wind. Seeing the shock on Desolate Sword’s face, he looked up to the sky and laughed.

"Hahahaha, Junior Brother, not only does this person possess peerless profound techniques, I am afraid he is only two steps from the Heaven and Earth Deity realm."

Desolate Sword was greatly shocked, he had not expected to have just crossed blows with such an existence.

It was simply a mayfly trying to shake a tree, he truly had not known the immensity of heaven and earth.

"However, do not worry, Junior Brother. I let this person take Miss Maren away not out of fear. The Veil Manor saved the world and bestowed a great favor upon my Sword Sect. Even if our lineage were completely destroyed, we would not stand by and watch them die."

The Sword Sect Master continued. "Junior Brother, there are three reasons for my actions. First, the Silver Willow Imperial Family’s karmic luck is waning. They can no longer withstand the slightest turmoil, otherwise they will crumble. Therefore, I threatened him with my words."

"Second, that Imperial Master’s lifespan is nearing its end. Exterminating the Veil Manor was merely for the secret realm from a thousand years ago. Rumor has it that within that realm, there are life-extending immortal pills and herbs."

"Third, I just observed Miss Maren’s fate. This girl possesses great karmic luck and will achieve great things. She is not someone who will die young."

Listening to the first two reasons, Desolate Sword could barely convince himself. But upon hearing the final reason, his expression changed drastically and he lost all composure.

"Sect Master Senior Brother, what... what did you just say! You... you can observe her fate?!"

"Could it be that Sect Master Senior Brother, you have stepped into that realm?!"

Seeing the Sword Sect Master nod, Desolate Sword stood rooted to the spot like a wooden stump. After a long while, he looked up and laughed like a fool, tears welling in the corners of his eyes.

No wonder his Sect Master Senior Brother had compromised.

He had already reached the Proving the dao realm, able to pry into a corner of destiny, and had seen the fortune and disaster awaiting Miss Maren. Such abilities were no different from those of a deity.

The world praised Desolate Sword as the Sword Sect’s peerless talent unseen in three hundred years, but only he knew that the Sect Master before him was the true great talent of the Sword Dao.

Now that he had stepped into that realm, his cultivation was enough to rival the founding patriarch. He was truly one opportunity away from becoming a Heaven and Earth Deity.

Hearing those final words, Desolate Sword let go of his last shred of doubt.

"Junior Brother, this divine soul of mine is about to dissipate. Stay in the capital. As long as Miss Maren escapes this tribulation, bring her to the Sword Sect."

"I respectfully obey the Sect Master Senior Brother’s decree."

...

Inkwood Academy, by a window.

The shock in Adam’s eyes did not fade for a long time. Like a wooden carving, he stared out at the sky beyond the window.

Even though the great battle had ended long ago and not a single silhouette remained, Adam still did not turn his head.

It was not until someone nudged him that he finally snapped back to his senses.

The aura those three had exuded during their battle was already terrifying. Even though they stood high in the sky, far from Inkwood Academy, the radiating pressure had still made Adam’s heart palpitate.

The eunuch who appeared later was even more terrifying.

Adam asked himself honestly. He had watched the entire battle without the slightest distraction, yet he had not noticed how this eunuch appeared at all.

Although the eunuch exuded no aura and looked like nothing more than a withered, hunched old man, his casual glance alone had made Adam feel as though he had plunged into great crisis.

His sword intent had nearly broken out of his body uncontrollably.

The phantom that appeared afterward was equally terrifying. Adam had only sized him up briefly, but he felt the sword intent on this person was vast and boundless, like a great ocean stretching beyond sight.

Looking across Silver Willow, who knew what kind of existences these two mysterious powerhouses were? And who knew how many more figures like them were hidden across the land?

A hint of relief flashed through Adam’s eyes. Fortunately, this was the capital.

Out of wariness for the lingering prestige of the Imperial Family, these two peerless experts had restrained their power.

Otherwise, if they had fought with no scruples and struck with full force, the entire capital would probably have been destroyed.
