Chapter 31: Chapter 31

By the time it closed to within three meters of Elara, every last shred of momentum within the massive sword qi had completely dissipated.

Looking at Chief Eunuch Allen, who had materialized out of thin air, a trace of shock surfaced in Desolate Sword’s eyes, and a terrifying sense of crisis rose unbidden in his heart.

As one of the Seven Sons of the Sword Sect, his combat strength placed him firmly in the top three of the entire Great Grandmaster Ranking.

Yet just now, he had not detected the faintest hint of how Allen had appeared before him.

If this person had wished to strike him down, he would have been erased without a chance to raise his guard.

What horrified him even more was that Allen had not even made a physical move. With nothing but a single look, the full might of his all-out sword strike had been rendered null and void.

Having roamed Silver Willow unhindered for many years, Desolate Sword searched his memory and realized he had only ever witnessed such unfathomable methods from one person, his Senior Brother, the Sect Master.

But what kind of figure was his Sect Master Senior Brother? Across the entirety of Silver Willow, even if the hidden foundation within the Imperial Family’s forbidden zones fully awakened, his Senior Brother would still rank firmly in the top ten.

He was one of the absolute pinnacle figures of the present-day world.

Could this Chief Eunuch Allen truly be a pinnacle figure on par with his Sect Master Senior Brother?

Desolate Sword fixed Allen with extreme vigilance, his face heavy with solemnity. "Looking at Your Excellency’s attire, you must be from the Silver Willow Imperial Palace."

"These two are from the Demonic Cult. Could it be that the Silver Willow Imperial Family intends to collude with the Demonic Cult?"

Allen smiled faintly, his gaze sizing up Desolate Sword. After a long while, he spoke. "Truly worthy of being a Sword Dao talent the Sword Sect has not produced in three hundred years."

"So long as you do not fall prematurely, the title of Silver Willow’s future Sword Dao Leader will undoubtedly belong to you."

"Considering you are an unpolished jade of the Sword Dao, I do not wish for Silver Willow to lose a future Sword Dao Leader. Leave that Veil Manor remnant behind, and I will let you walk away today."

Hearing these words, Desolate Sword’s expression turned deeply ugly. "I did not expect the Silver Willow Imperial Family to have fallen to the point of colluding with the Demonic Cult."

"The ancestors of the Veil Manor bestowed a great favor upon my Sword Sect. Although this Daoist is no match for Your Excellency, if you wish to take this girl, you will have to step over my dead body."

"Since that is the case, there is nothing more to be done."

A trace of pity appeared on Allen’s face, his words full of regret. In the span of a single breath, however, his eyes filled with piercing sharpness.

He extended a finger. A cluster of radiant light emerged from his pale, slender fingertip.

Though the light was not large, it warped the surrounding space, making plain that the power within was utterly terrifying.

Allen tapped lightly, and the light shot toward Desolate Sword like an arrow loosed from a bowstring.

Wherever it passed, the void shattered section by section, cracking apart like a mirror.

A flash of terror crossed Desolate Sword’s eyes. Though the light appeared gentle, he could sense heaven-shattering power within it.

Frantically mobilizing spiritual energy throughout his body, he slashed out with his sword.

The instant his Innate Sword Qi touched Allen’s light, however, it disintegrated on the spot.

After annihilating the Innate Sword Qi, the radiant light continued its assault without slowing.

Yet just as it closed in on his body, a vast, heaven-reaching sword qi erupted from within Desolate Sword, shattering Allen’s light completely.

Immediately following, an illusory phantom of a white-haired man with the bearing of a transcendent immortal emerged from Desolate Sword’s body.

Looking at this phantom, Allen, who had been calm as a gentle breeze moments before, turned grave in an instant, his gaze remained locked onto the figure, and only after a long silence did he speak.

"Brother Daoist, what impressive methods. It seems that within that realm, Brother Daoist has walked further than I have."

"However, this Veil Manor remnant is someone my Imperial Master desires. I am bound to secure this person."

"Could it be that Brother Daoist truly intends to trade the Sword Sect’s three hundred years of foundation for this one girl?"

The Sword Sect Master’s phantom gaze flickered continuously. After a long while, he let out a heavy sigh. "I know your Imperial Master wants this girl for the secret realm where the Veil ancestor Raiden Veil encountered his fortuitous opportunity a thousand years ago."

"This girl, I can give to you."

The Sword Sect Master paused, then fixed Allen with a chilling glint in his eyes, his words carrying a note of threat.

"The ancestors of the Veil Manor once bestowed a great favor upon the Sword Sect. If you want that secret realm, I cannot control that."

"However, your Silver Willow Imperial Family must not harm her life. Otherwise, even if I must risk destroying my Great Dao foundation entirely, I will march to your Imperial Family and wreak absolute havoc."

"At present, your Imperial Family’s karmic luck is in decline, and your Imperial Master’s lifespan nears its end. I would very much like to see how many of my sword strikes your Silver Willow Imperial Family can block."

Allen’s expression shifted. After weighing the matter from every angle, he finally said with helplessness, "Rest assured, Brother Daoist. My Imperial Master only wants that secret realm. What use would he have for this girl’s life?"

With the Sword Sect Master’s consent secured, he took Maren and drifted away.

"Sect Master Senior Brother, we sword cultivators emphasize a clear and transparent sword heart. The ancestors of the Veil Manor bestowed a great favor upon the Sword Sect. By handing this girl over, doesn’t it go against our Sword Dao?!"

"The Silver Willow Imperial Family has a profound foundation, but our Sword Sect is not lacking either! Why must you compromise today, Sect Master Senior Brother?"
