Chapter 427: Moon Fall Slash

No one dared breathe loudly.

Each widened their eyes, unable to wrap their heads around what had just happened. The sudden attack had completely exceeded their expectations.

Everything had happened too fast.

They had only seen a crimson flash before one of their companions collapsed. The Mage opened his mouth to speak only for a guttural sound to come out from his throat.

Blood continued pouring from the horrifying wound.

His lips trembled.

His eyes slowly lost their light.

Merely looking at him, everyone knew he was beyond saving. No amount of healing or blood recovery potion could save him.

Thud!

His body fell to the ground, never to rise again.

The crimson sand beneath him quickly became soaked with fresh blood. A strange silence descended upon the group.

Even the desert wind seemed to have quieted.

However, before the men could have time to mourn the loss of their comrade, two figures in cloaks appeared in the distance.

Their black cloaks fluttered violently under the desert wind. They were racing toward them at a breathtaking speed.

Each step covered several meters.

The distance between both sides rapidly disappeared.

"Why do I feel I didn’t sense any life force from them?" the Hunter muttered, his expression strange.

"Because they are not living being in the first place," their leader, the Level 38 Warrior, spat onto the ground.

His voice was filled with undisguised hatred and his killing intent surged. He stepped forward, his muscles bulging and veins appearing on his forehead.

The aura around him erupted violently.

The surrounding desert sand was blown backward by the pressure. He merely caught sight of what had sneak-attacked one of his men but failed to react quickly.

That alone made his heart burn with fury.

As the leader of this elite hunting squad, watching one of his trusted subordinates die before his eyes was an unbearable humiliation.

With his current strength, he never expected something could still kill one of his men under his watch.

His pride had been trampled upon.

Since he couldn’t find out what truly killed the Earth Mage, he would make sure these undead and the Necromancer behind them paid the price.

No matter where that Necromancer hid, he would drag him out.

"Kill!" he shouted and rushed forward.

His massive scythe dragged across the crimson sand.

Behind him, the others reacted quickly.

Standing behind them, the Level 37 Archer nocked two arrows on his bowstring at the same time, pulling the bowstring to the limit.

His breathing became steady and his sharp eyes locked onto the incoming cloaked figures.

"Double Tap Phantom."

The Archer let loose the two arrows in near-perfect synchronization.

The bowstring vibrated violently.

The arrows were infused with mana.

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

The two arrows traveled at dazzling speed, tracing nearly invisible trajectories as they appeared before the two cloaked figures.

Everyone expected the two cloaked figures to evade the attack. But to their shock, they did not.

The two cloaked figures continued charging forward..

Bang!

Bang!

The arrows struck their bodies, lodging deep into their flesh. The force behind the arrows was enough to sink them deep into their muscles.

Yet, the two merely halted for a second before they continued their charge.

Their movements remained steady.

Their speed did not decrease.

The arrows protruding from their bodies only made them appear even more terrifying.

Seeing this, the Slave Trade Guild members were stunned for a second but when they remembered what they were dealing with.

They recovered and their gazes became deadly sharp.

Of course.

Undead did not feel pain.

"Let’s see how you react against this," the Archer muttered, his face brimming with confidence.

He narrowed his eyes.

His fingers tightened around the bow.

He was preparing to release another deadly volley.

Whoosh!

Before he could nock his bowstring with another arrow, a whistling sound echoed from the sky. It came so suddenly that everyone’s expressions changed.

"Incoming!" the Hunter shouted.

This time, the men were prepared.

No one hesitated.

Everyone immediately scattered from their previous positions.

The Fire Mage released a volley of fire attacks, covering the sky.

"Blazing Wind Storm"

Boom!

A violent sea of crimson flames erupted upward. The scorching heat distorted the surrounding air and the entire section of the sky was engulfed by blazing fire.

The Fire Mage’s intention was simple.

Even if he could not hit the creature directly, he would force it to reveal itself. But to their shock, the creature cut through the dense firestorm as if it was nothing.

The blazing flames parted apart.

A crimson streak burst through the inferno without slowing down.

It ignored the heat completely.

"T-This..." The Fire Mage was stunned, his jaw dropped.

His pupils contracted.

Cold sweat rolled down his forehead.

"I’m dead," he thought with a grim expression.

Swiss!

The undead Sanguine Vulture flashed once before the Fire Mage and it was gone. Its crimson wings disappeared almost as quickly as they had appeared.

Only a faint trail of blood remained suspended in the air.

"H-How?" the Swordsman whispered.

His voice trembled uncontrollably. He had not even managed to follow the creature’s movement.

As for the Fire Mage, a thin line appeared on his throat and slowly blood splattered from it. The cut was so clean that for a brief moment the Fire Mage remained standing.

His eyes were still wide open.

His lips trembled.

He instinctively reached for his neck.

Warm blood poured endlessly through the narrow opening between his fingers.

Thud!

His head cleanly separated from his neck.

It rolled several meters across the crimson sand before finally stopping.

His body swayed once, then it collapsed heavily onto the ground.

A powerful Level 37 Fire Mage was killed.

So quick and clean.

The surrounding Slave Trade Guild members instinctively took several steps backward.

Their hearts tightened in fear.

Their leader, the Level 38 Warrior, felt a cold shiver run down his spine. His grip around the scythe tightened unconsciously.

If a Level 37 Awakener could be killed this easily, then, what about him?

The thought only lingered in his mind for a moment before he recovered from the shock when he felt the powerful vibration under his feet.

The two cloaked figures had arrived. This was not the time to think about the deadly creature in the air.

"Kill!"

"Moon Fall Slash!"

He leaped forward with a guttural cry while his muscles bulged violently.

Mana surged throughout his entire body. He rotated the scythe overhead and crashed down with the blade first.

The heavy weapon tore through the air with overwhelming force. The wind shrieked around the descending blade.

The inner curve aimed at the leading cloaked figure’s neck.

His intention was simple.

One strike.

One kill.
