Chapter 41: Chapter 41: [Restoring Protective Vest (Green)]

The inability to profit from the .32 pistol left Ye Yun feeling rather unenthusiastic.

However, his attention soon turned to another green option on the production list.

[Restorative Protective Vest (Green)]

[Production Requirements]:

[Power: 10] [10/10]

[Construction Robot: 1] [1/1]

[Basic Component Requirements]:

[Small Piece of Memory Metal (Green)] x1 [1/1]

[Damaged High-Tech Fiber Cloth (Green)] x2 [0/2]

[Contaminated Spider Silk (White)] x5 [2/5]

[Broken Iron Wire (White)] x5 [5/5]

[Fractured Iron Plate (White)] x5 [5/5]

This green blueprint was the reward from the end of the first crisis.

He had just been busy with other matters, so he hadn’t paid it any attention.

Ye Yun’s eyes lit up as he looked at the [Restorative Protective Vest (Green)].

The production requirements for this piece of green armor were quite low.

The basic recipe only required two green components and 15 white components, for a total cost of just 215 white components.

Ye Yun used the assessment system to check the production success rate.

[Assessment Type: Crafting]

[Assessing production risk...]

[Item for production: [Restorative Protective Vest (Green)]]

[Assessment: 100% chance of obtaining a Green item. Risk: 20%]

’The risk is only 20%?’

After all, the production risk for the basic .32 pistol blueprint was as high as 35%.

Ye Yun didn’t know why there was such a large gap in risk between the two.

However, this piece of green armor had piqued his interest.

Ye Yun was pleasantly surprised when he saw the final recipe.

He had originally thought he would need to find another hidden green component to get the perfect recipe.

Yet, to his surprise, the perfect recipe only required a dozen or so additional white components, with no extra green components needed at all.

The total production cost was only 230 white components—half of what it cost to make a .32 pistol.

Ye Yun decisively hit confirm.

An hour later, when he saw the brand-new piece of armor in his warehouse, Ye Yun’s earlier frustration vanished completely.

[Restorative Protective Vest (Green)]

[Defense: 15]

[A protective vest made of special metal. Protects the torso but not the limbs.]

[Restore: When durability is below 100%, it regenerates at a rate of 1% per minute.]

[Stat Requirements: 3 Strength / 3 Agility]

[Durability: 100%]

’This thing is good!’

Ye Yun was a little surprised.

He had assumed that a green piece of armor produced with so few components would be garbage, but its stats were surprisingly decent.

Not only could it automatically restore its own durability, but it also had a solid 15 points of defense.

Ye Yun had seen some of the other green armor pieces that had appeared on the Exchange.

Their defense values were generally between 10 and 20, with prices ranging from 210 to 380 white components depending on the defense rating.

A piece of green armor like the [Restorative Protective Vest (Green)] could easily sell for 300 to 310 white components.

After doing some quick mental math, Ye Yun couldn’t hide the smile on his face.

With a cost of 230 white components, even if he sold it for 300, he would still make a profit of 70 white components per piece.

’Excellent. After the BB gun, I have another ace product on my hands.’

The BB gun had sold very well at first, and the profits were high. But as people found more and more white-tier weapons in the wasteland, things changed.

The price of the BB gun had been forced down.

While the stats of many white-tier weapons couldn’t compare to the BB gun, they were much cheaper. Now, you could buy a white weapon for just a few dozen white components.

Unless they were trying to optimize their build, most people would naturally opt for the cheaper white-tier melee weapons.

Of course, the most important factor was the appearance of numerous green-tier weapons on the Exchange.

Even the worst of these green weapons completely outclassed the BB gun in terms of stats. Furthermore, some of the more average green weapons only cost around 210 white components.

If the BB gun was too expensive, people could just bite the bullet and save up for a green weapon instead.

So, the price of the BB gun had now dropped to 100 white components, aiming for small profits but high sales volume.

But now that he had the [Restorative Protective Vest (Green)], he could stop producing BB guns immediately.

Ye Yun immediately purchased the necessary components on the Exchange and issued a production order to his two construction robots.

With the production plan set, he didn’t stay up any later and decisively returned to his dorm to rest.

The next day, Ye Yun gave three freshly-made protective vests to the trio heading out to explore.

As for weapons, he only gave the .32 pistol to Bena.

It wasn’t that Ye Yun was showing favoritism; the stats of No. 1 and No. 2 were simply too low. Almost all green-tier equipment had stat requirements, which the two of them couldn’t meet.

Ye Yun had Bena take No. 1 and No. 2 to explore the surrounding area and, while they were at it, uncover more of the map.

After taking care of his tasks, Ye Yun opened the chat room again to gather useful information.

"The people I sent out to explore yesterday still haven’t come back. I think something must have happened to them."

"My explorers got injured yesterday, too, but they all managed to escape and get back safely. They said they were attacked by a giant mutated hound."

"We managed a pyrrhic victory over here. I sent out two bionics and two regular people, but only one of each came back, both heavily injured. They brought back a lot of good stuff, though, including this [D-Class Radiation Core (Blue)]. It’s my first blue component, but I have no idea what it’s used for."

"I’m so jealous of the pro above."

"What’s there to be jealous of? You only have so much combat power in a shelter. After losing half of it in one go, how are you supposed to develop later on?"

"Does any pro here know how to raise a bionic’s stats?"

"Yeah, all the better gear has stat requirements. We can’t just keep exploring with white-tier equipment forever, can we?"

......

Ye Yun’s eyes narrowed as he read through the discussion.

Clearly, what Bena had encountered yesterday wasn’t an isolated incident.

It seemed that everyone had encountered powerful mutated creatures around the same time—be it mutated lizards, hounds, or black bears.

The outcomes of these encounters varied. Some groups were completely wiped out, some managed to escape, and others successfully defeated the creatures they faced.

Additionally, some people had also astutely pointed out the inherent shortcomings of the bionics.
