Chapter 165: Chapter 117: I Am the Protagonist (3)

The Kobold Mobile Fortress wasn’t good for much, but it was quite handy for stopping a siege as it could create rolling boulders. After Benjamin discovered this, he kept it in mind and positioned Percy’s Mobile Fortress behind his own. That way, it could be used to cover his retreat during an escape.

After transmigrating, Benjamin had smooth sailing. There were no powerful Races or Tribes in the vicinity, so he developed very quickly. Even the City Lords he encountered were small fry that he dealt with effortlessly. This made him even more certain he was blessed with a protagonist’s Aura. Naturally, the Kobold fortress meant to cover his retreat was never once used.

But his luck was bound to run out. He ran into the Undead, and the Kobold Mobile Fortress was finally put to use.

After chasing for nearly a mile, the Jackal Wolfman Mobile Fortress was far in the distance. The Skeleton Undead finally slowed to a halt. They turned and returned, escorting the Treasure-Hunting Catman Mobile Fortress back toward the Bone Plate Platform.

Safety. Such an overwhelming sense of safety.

Guarded by tens of thousands of Undead, Liu Xingxing finally relaxed, his body going so limp he collapsed to the ground. This was the most dangerous experience he’d ever had in his two lifetimes. He’d been hunted by goblins before, but that was nothing compared to the Jackal Wolfmen’s Firearms. Even goblin Cavalry wasn’t as terrifying as Firearms.

Only someone from the modern world could truly understand the terror of firearms. Who could possibly claim they weren’t afraid of a gun?

...

Skeleton Undead Mobile Fortress.

Under the cover of night and an escort of tens of thousands of Undead, the Treasure-Hunting Catman Mobile Fortress finally returned to the Bone Plate Platform and docked successfully. When Liu Xingxing stepped out to inspect it, he nearly burst into tears. The sight was just too tragic.

It was covered from top to bottom with bullet holes. Many parts were broken or snapped, and some of the wooden planks were completely ruined. The fortress desperately needed repairs.

"Whoa, did you go out treasure hunting? Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were a scrap collector. This thing is a wreck," Zhang Peng taunted, walking over to take a look and clearly relishing Liu Xingxing’s misfortune.

"Shut up! Zhang Peng, are you a jinx or something? I ran into enemies right after you opened your mouth!" Liu Xingxing yelled, stomping his feet in anger.

"What’s that got to do with me? I just reminded you to be careful; I didn’t tell you to turn your fortress into a junkyard. Come on, the boss is waiting for you," Zhang Peng said with a tsk-tsk, shrugging as if to say, ’Don’t pin this on me.’

Liu Xingxing gritted his teeth, desperate to land a punch on Zhang Peng’s face. But when he saw the thick, dark circles under his eyes, he held back. He was afraid Zhang Peng would just fall over and try to extort him for resources.

’That was exactly the kind of thing Zhang Peng would do.’

"Ah... Boss, you have to help me get justice..."

As soon as he entered the hall, Liu Xingxing let out a loud wail. He ran forward a few steps and dropped into a knee-slide, heading straight for Li Ziyu. Before he could reach him, a flash of light appeared and shoved him, bringing his slide to an abrupt halt. An icy chill spread through his entire body, so cold his teeth began to chatter. The flash of light had been the Ice Princess, one of the four Fox Maidens floating beside Li Ziyu.

Like a clown, Liu Xingxing remained kneeling obediently before Li Ziyu, his wails cut short.

"BWAHAHA... *snort snort*..." Seeing this, Zhang Peng burst out laughing, snorting like a pig.

"Ice Princess, return."

Hearing Li Ziyu’s command, the Ice Princess shot Liu Xingxing a cold glance before her figure drifted back to stand ramrod straight behind Li Ziyu, looking valiant and sharp.

Liu Xingxing leaped up from the floor, rubbing his arms and hopping from foot to foot. It took him a few moments of moving around to shake off the chill. He then looked at Li Ziyu with a whimpering expression. "Boss, you can’t do this to me! I’ve suffered so much..."
