Chapter 163: Chapter 117: I Am the Protagonist

The sun’s brilliance gradually faded as darkness crept in from the distance.

’A race that uses firearms as weapons?’

Li Ziyu lowered his gaze, his mind racing. ’I need to take this seriously. I have to get Liu Xingxing back safely. Let’s start with 30,000 Skeleton Undead, then send 100 Skeleton Longbowmen to provide cover.’

He had no intention of underestimating his opponent. They were both Transmigrator Lords; everyone had an ace up their sleeve.

"Summon Skeleton Undead."

At his summons, the number of Skeletons in the Warehouse plummeted. One after another, Skeleton Undead writhed to their feet and marched out of the main tower.

The Minotaurs on the Bone Plate Platform stared wide-eyed. ’The Undead army is growing larger and larger. It’s even bigger than the one that defeated the Alliance Army last time. The City Lord is so strong! It makes you feel so safe!’

"March! Bring back our comrade!"

The Soul Fires of 30,000 Skeleton Undead blazed as they opened their maws and unleashed a Soul Roar. Bathed in the twilight, they marched off the Bone Plate Platform and advanced in the direction from which Liu Xingxing was speeding.

One hundred Skeleton Longbowmen, Longbows in hand, silently blended into the ranks of the Skeleton Undead.

Li Ziyu stood atop the main tower, his hand resting on the battlements, silently watching the Undead army depart.

’Liu Xingxing must have some kind of special Constitution. Otherwise, why is he always the one getting chased?’

He sighed to himself. ’Ever since I met that guy, life has certainly become more eventful.’

The sun gradually set below the horizon, and the Soul Fires of the marching Undead grew ever stronger. The Darkness would bring them even greater Power.

...

"RAWR~ WAHOO~! Fire! Fire! Don’t let him get away!"

On a Mobile Fortress that resembled an armored car, a small hatch popped open. A dark-skinned Human raised a homemade telescope and stared at the fortress fleeing ahead, shouting and pointing emphatically.

His name was Benjamin Mac. He was a black man who had, for reasons unknown, arrived in this world a short while ago. He had even acquired a Mobile Fortress and become a City Lord.

He was no stranger to transmigration. In his past life, to read web novels, Benjamin had abandoned his old ways, giving up the little pills and syringes that offered their own intoxicating escape. When reading wasn’t enough, he traveled thousands of miles to the ancient Eastern Realm and painstakingly learned the language just so he could keep up with the latest updates.

He loved the worlds within the books; they were utterly enthralling. He had fantasized countless times that if he could transmigrate, he would be just like the protagonists in those stories: he would vie for supremacy, seize power, surround himself with beautiful women, and become an arrogant, all-powerful figure.

Transmigrating to the Otherworld made him marvel at the wonders of fate more than once. His day had finally come—the day Benjamin Mac’s luck would turn around.

Since arriving in the Otherworld, Benjamin had been a whirlwind of activity. He did everything he could to strengthen himself, constantly recalling the plots of the novels he had read. In addition to the items and Warriors provided by the system, he had also crafted quite a few of his own little gadgets, like his telescope.

To him, the Natives were no different from NPCs and monsters in a game; he killed them without a shred of mercy. As for other Transmigrators, they were simply rivals competing with him for control of this world. ’Since I’m the one who transmigrated, I must be the protagonist,’ he thought. ’All the others are just cannon fodder, stepping stones sent to help me grow stronger.’

"Benjamin, how’s it going? Can we take down that fortress?"

A head popped up beside Benjamin. The man squinted against the oncoming dust, trying to get a clear view of the battle. This was a companion Benjamin had teamed up with after arriving in the Otherworld, a handsome white man named Percy Jackson. With his trademark golden hair and blue eyes, he looked like a movie star.

Benjamin’s own Race was the Jackal Wolfman, while Percy’s was the Kobold. The two made for a decent combination in battle. At the very least, having the Kobolds Charge ahead bought his Jackal Wolfmen more opportunities to attack. Otherwise, Benjamin wouldn’t have bothered with Percy at all.

"What nonsense are you spouting, Percy? We’re the main characters here! They’re just the supporting cast! Just watch, I’ll take down that fortress in no time! Hahaha..." Benjamin boomed, laughing theatrically as he held the telescope to his eye.

"I believe in you! You’ll take him down just like all the others!" Though Percy couldn’t see what was happening through the dust, he still yelled at the top of his lungs, "Let’s get them! Whoop whoop whoop!"

The two of them acted like drunks who’d downed a gallon of cheap liquor, letting out wild, arrogant roars as the gunfire from the Jackal Wolfman Firearms Team grew even more intense.

"Report! What’s the damage to the fortress?" Liu Xingxing asked, keeping his head down as he scurried over to the control console where a nervous-looking Catman was stationed.

"Lord City Lord, the power source is undamaged, but the fortress’s exterior has taken a lot of hits, meow," the Catman responded, glancing at the instrument panel.

’Thank goodness. As long as the power source is intact, the rest is acceptable.’ Liu Xingxing wasn’t too concerned about the damage to the fortress. Worst-case scenario, he’d just ask his boss for the materials to repair it. He knew the boss would give them to him.

"Stick to the plan! I’ve already notified the boss. Reinforcements are on their way!" Liu Xingxing told the Catman before turning and scurrying back to the window.

’Hmph. That’s right, keep chasing me. Just you wait, I’ll be the one to finish you!’

’The last person who hunted me is already pushing up daisies.’

Liu Xingxing grumbled to himself. ’I just don’t get it. Why can’t everyone just focus on developing their own territory? Why does it always have to be a fight to the death? What did I even do? I was just looking for some treasure! I didn’t hurt anybody!’
