Chapter 417: Chapter 59: Forest Elf, the Ancient Race’s Path to Divinity (Part 3)
"First, we must consolidate the Power native to our Clan from within our Bloodline. Then, we ignite the Power of the Bloodline bestowed by the Father God, which will allow us to contain the Power of our Clan’s God of Mortals—a gift from the world’s will."
"Only by doing this can our Demigod kin receive the recognition of the world’s will!"
"The cost may seem great, but..."
At this, the Elf Elder deliberately paused. He surveyed the other Elf Elders, then his voice suddenly boomed:
"If their Ascension to Divinity is successful, the Power these kin possess will be far beyond anything we can currently imagine!"
"A God of Mortals—a Deity recognized by the world—can be revived even after death, thanks to the favor of the world’s will!"
"As for your questions about why the Ancient Deities cannot be resurrected after death..."
Val then proceeded to explain everything he had learned about the differences between the Ancient Deities and the common Gods of Mortals.
In essence, the potential of the Ancient Deities was far higher than that of the Gods of Mortals. They were not subject to the favor or limitations of the planet’s will.
However, when an Ancient Deity died, they were truly and irrevocably dead. There was no possibility of revival—unless, of course, they were an Ancient Deity who wielded the Laws of Life and Death.
But even the Star Empire could only speculate on this matter; it was impossible to verify.
The birth of every living creature in the world is a choice made by fate.
Neither mortals nor the Ancient Life forms had a choice, for from the moment of birth, the station of every living being in the world was preordained.
But this destiny was not absolute.
Even if a mortal who achieved Ascension to Divinity was weaker than an Ancient Species, they were a god nonetheless.
In fact, the path of a Deity might even one day lead to the heights of the Ancient Deities.
To prove his point, the Elf Elder, Val, had a recently Descended Demigod of their Clan project a scene: the Star Empire hunting the Sea Race’s Ancient Deity, the Unihorn Shark, in the Star Sea.
When the Elves in the Royal Court saw the vast fleet of Starships in the Star Sea, followed by the image of the Storm Main God, the Giant Demon Main God, and their allied Deities cornering and hunting the Ancient Deity of the Sea Race, a terrifying storm of shock swept through their minds.
’So, even weak mortals...!’
’They had a chance to slay the gods of those clans, beings who had seemed immensely powerful since ancient times?’
If the Star Empire’s hunt for the Unihorn Shark was already shocking enough, the Elves in the Royal Court were truly electrified when the Elf Elder revealed that the number of Gods of Mortals a world could sustain was limited.
’Are you kidding me?’
’After learning how powerful the Gods of Mortals are, you’re now telling us the number of such gods is limited by the world?’
’Then what were they waiting for?!’
Forget the Elf Elders; even the Elf Queen herself could no longer sit still!
Indeed, these high-ranking members of their Clan were already Demigods, some even at the Demigod Peak.
Normally, this meant they could no longer walk the path of mortal Ascension to Divinity.
But!
The Elves were special!
Because their Clan’s Royal Court possessed the Holy Tree.
The most powerful Ability of this so-called Holy Tree was allowing deceased clan members to be reborn through nirvana, retaining all the memories of their past lives.
Therefore, if the high-ranking members of the Elf Royal Court wished to walk the path of mortal Ascension to Divinity, they would undoubtedly have to undergo this nirvana first.
The Elf Queen, however, didn’t believe this was the only path to Ascension to Divinity.
The Elf Queen was also aware of the vast difference between the Ascension of ordinary mortals and that of the Ancient Races and their Ancient Deities.
’So, if they could persuade their Clan’s Father God to release the restrictions on their Bloodline, what was to stop them from achieving Ascension to Divinity as an Ancient Race?’
’While this path wouldn’t grant them the ability to resurrect after death like the world-favored Gods of Mortals...’
’...they shouldn’t forget that the Elves possessed the Holy Tree!’
Thus, the Elf Queen envisioned another powerful path to Ascension to Divinity—a promising middle ground, situated somewhere between the path of the Ancient Deities and the Gods of Mortals!
And this was the true reason the Forest Elf Clan began to strengthen its ties with the Star Empire and forge their so-called alliance.
And so, it was under these circumstances.
Several years later, when the Forest Elf Clan united with the Frost Race and, along with the allied forces of the Star Empire, began to annihilate the kin of the Feathered Insect Race, the time for the decisive battle that would determine the fate of the entire Barbaric Star drew ever closer.
