Chapter 407. Black Dragon, Mysterious Drop of Blood, Death?
The black mist had actually appeared earlier, but no one had paid it much attention at the time. Now that the black dragon was actively drawing it out, Lu Yuan finally noticed it, and he found it to be familiar somehow.
I think I saw the same thing at Guang Chengzi's Dao ground... All of a sudden, Lu Yuan realized that the black mist was similar to what had seeped out of that red-furred Extracosmic Heavenly Demon.
In other words, the black dragon before him was closely connected to them. Otherwise, there would be no other explanation for why it was emitting the same black mist.
While Lu Yuan was still processing the newfound information, the black dragon rushed forward, and the terrible black mist burst out of it, before condensing into an exceptionally pure energy that poured back into the black dragon.
Buzz!
In moments, all of its wounds vanished, and the aura radiating from the black dragon grew even stronger than before.
"This is really some good stuff. Unfortunately, there isn't more of it, but it doesn't matter. Once I devour you, I'll be able to keep drawing on that power and push myself even further. And then, I'll have my revenge on the entire dragon race," the black dragon remarked. Its hoarse voice was laced with bottomless hatred. It had once had the chance to become a True Dragon.
However, the dragon race had chosen to seal and imprison it, all because it had killed some humans and creatures from other races.
If it hadn't absorbed that mysterious power back then, it would never have survived this long. Hence, all that remained in its heart was hatred.
Now that it was free, its first priority was to recover its strength, and then it would take revenge. Lu Yuan was the first step in that recovery.
Boom!
Upon absorbing all of the black mist, it transformed into a massive black dragon. The dark scales coating its frame gleamed with a cold, menacing light, and it made even Lu Yuan feel pressured.
Lu Yuan said nothing more. He stepped forward and stood in midair. Then he said, "The real fight starts now. This black dragon is extremely powerful, and after absorbing that strange mist-like energy, it has only become more dangerous."
Neither Jiang Ningxian nor Yinglong was an Immortal, but this black dragon could display strength on the same level as Immortals. Under these circumstances, even Lu Yuan couldn't predict how the battle would unfold, so he decided to warn the two.
Jiang Ningxian nodded. She instantly saw through what Lu Yuan wanted her to do. An ancient mirror materialized in her hand, emanating threads of light that enveloped both her and Yinglong.
Lu Yuan quietly faced the colossal black dragon and attacked it without delay. He had finally digested his gains and acclimatized to his new power at the Immortal Realm, but he had yet to truly unleash his full power as an Immortal.
Now that the opportunity to do so was here, he wasn't about to let it pass.
"You impudent human!" the black dragon roared. Waves of sound burst from its maw, and they tore through the air with such power that even the Dragon Penitentiary could barely withstand them. The ground cracked apart, and numerous prison cells were destroyed at once.
Lu Yuan showed no trace of fear, and his movements didn't falter as he threw a punch.
Boom!
The two collided once more. On one side stood a massive dragon emanating a suffocating aura, while on the other stood a single human being. Lu Yuan looked extremely small, like an ant, compared to the dragon before him, but the power he displayed was anything but small.
Radiant light engulfed him, making him look like a war immortal as he sent out multiple punches in quick succession. The black dragon found itself unable to gain the upper hand under the relentless assault. It was actually being pushed back.
The hardships and battles Lu Yuan had experienced allowed him to obtain the comportment of the invincible. At this point, regardless of who stood in his way, he was confident that he could defeat them.
This was Lu Yuan's path to the apex of evolution—the path of the invincible.
"How are you this strong?" the black dragon remarked, sounding stunned. Among the dragon race, it was a prodigy no weaker than any Holy Sons or Saintesses—no, it was far stronger than them. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been recognized as having the potential to become a True Dragon.
Despite that, the human before it made it reel in disbelief. What had happened to the outside world? How could a random human be this powerful?
This is bad. I've got to eat something soon, or I really am going to die. The black dragon knew its condition more than anyone else. If it couldn't end this fight quickly, forget revenge. It wouldn't even make it out of the Dragon Penitentiary.
With that in mind, it decisively took on a human form and slashed open its own chest.
A drop of black blood instantly spilled from the wound, but this drop of blood was different. It carried a strange, unique power. The moment it appeared, the entire Dragon Penitentiary seemed to fall silent.
Even Jiang Ningxian and Yinglong felt a shiver down their spines as a primal, instinctive fear took over them at once.
What exactly is that black blood?
Just as they were pondering that question, the black blood shot toward Lu Yuan at blinding speed. He sensed it immediately and channeled every ounce of his power to destroy it. He knew with absolute certainty that the black blood was dangerous, as it was likely tied to those Extracosmic Heavenly Demons.
He could not let even a drop of it make contact with him.
The next moment, however, he discovered that no matter how much power he mustered, he simply could not stop it. The black blood passed through his defenses without resistance and appeared before him as if nothing was in its way.
Sizzle!
A sizzling noise echoed as the black blood melted into Lu Yuan. Immediately afterward, Lu Yuan felt as if he had been teleported in the midst of an inferno capable of roasting even Immortals to death.
The inferno was so hot that even his formidable physique seemed unable to withstand its flames. He focused and tried to adapt, but the black blood seemed to have noticed his actions as it unleashed a wave of extreme, absolute cold.
It was so cold that it seemed like it was going to freeze his very soul. The black blood targeted both his body and his soul simultaneously. In the blink of an eye, Lu Yuan's techniques were locked down, and then he collapsed to the ground.
"Lu Yuan!" Jiang Ningxian's expression changed drastically. Lu Yuan's power seemed to have disappeared into thin air. The disappearance of one's power was the equivalent of one's life force being completely drained.
Jiang Ningxian had never imagined that a mere drop of black blood could hold such terrifying power. She rushed over to Lu Yuan's side and saw that his face had gone deathly pale. Upon taking a closer look, Jiang Ningxian noticed that Lu Yuan's power was still there, but it had weakened to the point that it was almost impossible to detect. Lu Yuan seemed to have suffered catastrophic damage in the face of a mere drop of black blood!
The unprecedented sight left Jiang Ningxian shaken to the core.
