Chapter 535: Chapter 535: Selena
The moment those words fell, Conrad froze immediately.
Because annoyingly enough... Lucian was absolutely correct.
After several seconds of silence, Conrad finally clenched his fists tightly before lowering them unwillingly.
Then he coldly stared toward Lucian. "You’re very smart."
His voice carried obvious hostility. "You already knew about Lana’s identity long ago."
His eyes narrowed dangerously. "And because of that, you deliberately approached her."
Conrad’s breathing gradually became heavier. "I’ll give you half of the Peterson Empire if necessary."
His tone sounded serious. "So stay away from my sister."
At this point, Conrad genuinely felt like he was approaching emotional collapse.
After finally finding his biological sister after so much effort... he suddenly discovered that some shameless bastard had already completely stolen her heart first.
He truly could not bear it anymore.
A cold glint flashed through Lucian’s eyes.
"Truly, you are just like one of the Petersons."
His voice was calm, almost frighteningly calm, as if he had already suppressed all the anger boiling inside him.
"I do not need your money. In fact, I am willing to give up the Peterson Empire and half of my property, which is worth nearly one trillion dollars, as long as you promise me one thing."
Lucian paused for a moment, his gaze turning darker. "Treat Lana better."
Conard fell silent.
Lucian looked at him seriously and spoke again. "I am not lying."
Conrad finally understood that Lucian was genuinely sincere.
After a long while, he let out a tired sigh, rubbing his forehead as though he suddenly had a terrible headache.
"You know what? I truly hate you."
Hearing that, Lucian chuckled softly. "I can say the same."
Conrad lowered his eyes before speaking in a hoarse voice. "If you truly hated me, then why did you even..."
He suddenly stopped speaking midway. The remaining words became trapped in his throat.
Both of them understood their own limitations better than anyone else.
Perhaps if those limitations had not existed, they might not have met at all.
Lucian slowly exhaled and adjusted his sleeves.
"I am going inside first. Lana must be waiting for me."
Conrad did not reply.
The moment Lucian entered, Lana immediately walked toward him.
Her eyes hurriedly scanned his body from head to toe as though checking whether he had gotten injured.
When she realized Conrad had not hit him, she finally released a deep breath of relief.
Seeing her reaction, Lucian’s heartbeat thumped violently inside his chest.
’She was worried about me.’
That single thought alone was enough to satisfy the twisted possessiveness buried deep inside him.
Without hesitation, he pulled her into his arms.
His embrace was tight, almost suffocating, yet his expression remained harmless as he buried his face near her neck.
"My girlfriend is so good that I suddenly want to kiss her."
Lana immediately slapped his chest lightly, glaring at him with annoyance.
"Why do you always need to provoke my brother? You know very well that he can lose his patience at any moment."
Her brows furrowed as she continued lecturing him.
"From now on, you are forbidden from saying those kinds of things in front of him again."
Lucian instantly put on an aggrieved expression, looking almost pitiful.
"So now that you have a brother, you are going to forget your boyfriend?"
He lowered his voice deliberately before leaning closer to her ear.
"Did you already forget the time when you kissed me first?"
The moment he spoke those shameless words, Lana’s face instantly flushed red.
"You truly have a foul mouth."
Her soft palms pressed against his lips while Lucian’s eyes curved with amusement.
He chuckled quietly before gently pulling her hand away and intertwining their fingers together.
"Alright, alright. I will stop mentioning it."
Meanwhile, while the two of them remained immersed in their own little world, Selena was almost going insane.
For the past few days, she had continuously sent messages to Lana, yet Lana ignored every single one of them.
At first, Selena still managed to maintain her composure, but as time passed, her patience completely disappeared.
Finally, she sent Lana an ultimatum.
"If you still refuse to reply, I will personally visit your university."
When another entire day passed without any response, Selena became utterly furious.
The next morning, she directly arrived at Lana’s university.
Selena stood near the roadside while crossing her arms impatiently.
Even now, she still did not understand how Lana was surviving after leaving the Almond family.
Deep inside, Selena desperately hoped Lana had fallen into misery and poverty.
However, the moment she saw a luxurious black car stop near the entrance, her expression froze.
Lana stepped out gracefully from the vehicle. All the arrogance on Selena’s face disappeared for a moment.
Still unwilling to give up, she immediately walked forward and blocked Lana’s path.
The moment Lana saw Selena, her expression turned cold. Taking a slow breath, she looked directly into Selena’s eyes.
"What do you want?"
Selena forced herself to remain calm. "Let us talk."
After speaking, she turned around and started walking away as though expecting Lana to obediently follow behind her.
However, after taking several steps and realizing Lana had not moved at all, Selena frowned unhappily.
"What is wrong with you now? Do you not even have time to talk to your most famous cousin anymore?"
The moment Lana heard the phrase "most famous cousin," she nearly laughed from irritation.
’Exactly the same words as my previous life.’
A cold light flickered through her eyes.
Taking a deep breath, she looked at Selena quietly before speaking.
"Are you here because you want me to get together with that man named Phoenix?"
The instant those words left Lana’s mouth, Selena’s entire body trembled violently.
Her eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Lana.
"How... how do you know about him?"
At that same moment, Brenda happened to arrive nearby as well. The moment she noticed Selena standing together with Lana, her expression subtly twisted.
She remembered the warnings her father had once given her regarding Selena.
’That woman is not a good person.’
Without hesitation, Brenda quickly walked toward them and deliberately inserted herself between the two.
"Lana, please understand. I only have good intentions towards you!"
