"I just suddenly remembered—you’re a little fox." Right as Miko’s hand had already closed around a certain something, Kaito suddenly came out with that line.
"Huh?" Stunned for a moment, Miko—still feeling the thing in her hand slowly growing larger—clearly didn’t understand why Kaito would say something like that out of nowhere.
"I mean, you’re a little fox."
With a slight smile, Kaito gave that offhand reply.
"Hmph! Are you trying to say I’m a fox spirit out to seduce you?" Now that she’d caught on, Miko put a bit of strength into giving the thing in her hand a squeeze.
But Miko felt that was too gentle—not nearly enough to teach this fellow Kaito a lesson. Still, this was something she definitely had to take good care of, so she’d just give the guy a little thump instead.
"That’s not it." Shaking his head, Kaito went on, "I just wanted to try something new."
"Hm? Something new? What kind of new thing? And what does it have to do with me being a little fox?"
The moment she heard Kaito mention something new, Miko’s interest was immediately piqued, and the movements of her hand even came to a stop.
"I just want you to wear a fox mask."
"A fox mask? You think I’d be more alluring to you wearing a fox mask?" Hearing that it was a fox mask, Miko found her expectations dashed.
But even so, if Kaito liked it, then she’d wear it—though she didn’t have much feeling about doing what came next while wearing a fox mask.
"It’s not the kind of fox mask you’re thinking of."
Knowing Miko had surely gotten the wrong idea, Kaito made it clear it wasn’t what she imagined.
Then he looked at Miko, stroked her long hair again, and said, "Although your hair’s too long—it doesn’t seem like it’d be easy to put on. Let’s just forget it."
"Hey now, are you going to tell me what kind of fox mask it is? And what does whether my hair’s long have to do with anything?"
By now Miko had become interested again in that fox mask Kaito mentioned—and even more interested than before.
"Do you really want to wear it? I feel like you might not like it."
Because it was something he’d suddenly come across in a certain book he’d seen before, Kaito wasn’t sure whether Miko would accept that kind of thing.
"Quit stalling, hurry up and take it out!"
Faced with Kaito dragging his feet, Miko dropped the act and just told him straight to take it out—after all, she had to actually see what the thing was before she could decide, didn’t she?
"It’s this." As he spoke, Kaito produced from his hand a black-and-white object, made of the same material as the clothes Miko was currently wearing.
"Isn’t this just a fox head? How is this a mask? Which fox doll did you pull this off of?" Taking the thing from Kaito’s hand, Miko hadn’t expected that the fox mask he’d spoken of would actually be the fox head from a doll—just without the body part.
But very soon, Miko discovered that the inside of this fox doll head was hollow, and there even seemed to be something like a collar at the neck.
Peering further inside, she even spotted a columnar object the very same shape as the one currently in her hand.
In an instant, Miko understood.
"Hmph! You’ve got quite a lot of ideas, don’t you, you scoundrel."
Looking at the thing in her own hand and then at the thing inside that doll’s fox head, Miko’s heartbeat clearly began to quicken—but even so, she said this to Kaito in that same indifferent tone.
It had to be said, Miko was rather tempted to give this kind of thing a try.
Even though she was a fox to begin with, putting on this thing while still in human form gave her a sort of very special feeling—not to mention there was also that columnar object inside it.
Aside from Kaito, no one would know what the situation was inside, and just imagining that scene was thrilling.
"With this many girlfriends, I’ve definitely got to have more ideas."
Smiling again, Kaito reached out his hand, preparing to take the thing back from Miko’s hand.
He figured Miko would surely say next that she was a fox to begin with and had no need for this thing.
"What are you doing? Didn’t you say it was for me to wear?"
Seeing Kaito about to take it back, Miko pulled her hand away, refusing to let him take it.
"Your hair’s too long—it won’t fit inside."
Not having expected that Miko really did want to wear it, Kaito once again looked toward her hair.
There was no helping it—her hair really was just too long.
"Then make it shorter for me. With how amazing you are, you should be able to manage that, right?" Stroking her own hair with her hand, Miko fixed her gaze on Kaito as she said this.
Actually, she didn’t know either whether Kaito could pull this off, but she figured he probably could. "In that case... I’ll give it a try."
Hearing Miko put it that way, Kaito felt that it did seem doable, and so he began to give it a try.
Then, under Kaito’s gaze, Miko’s hair turned into short hair before swiftly returning to its original state.
"Why do I feel like my hair just got shorter a moment ago?" Stroking her own hair with her hand again, Miko had clearly just felt her hair grow shorter, but now, after touching it, she found it was long once more.
What was going on?
"Looks like it works." At this point Kaito spoke up.
Because hair is also a form of matter, Kaito had just shortened Miko’s hair and then used the power of the Void Archive to change it back to how it was.
It had to be said, this thing really was far too convenient.
"But my hair’s still... hm? It got shorter again?" Before she’d even finished speaking, Miko felt her hair grow shorter yet again.
"Then put that thing on." Pausing a moment, Kaito added, "Though I don’t know how long you want to wear it. Want me to lock it on for you? That way you wouldn’t be able to take it off yourself."
Not able to take it off herself...
The moment she heard Kaito say that, Miko found herself getting into it.
She felt that kind of state was like having reverted to her fox form and then having her powers sealed so she couldn’t change back, plus with that thing inside leaving her unable to speak—just thinking about it was thrilling.
"Then... Kaito, lock it on for me."
After hesitating for a moment, Miko finally gave a nod.
"If I lock it on, then whenever it gets opened will be up to me—and by then you won’t be able to resist, you know." Right now Kaito wore a very serious expression, so that Miko would feel he wasn’t joking.
"Ahem, well, about that."
Hearing Kaito put it like that, Miko actually got even more into it—it was just that her remaining shred of shame kept her from answering right away.
Forget it!
Kaito definitely won’t ever make me suffer anyway!
Thinking this, Miko gritted her teeth and answered, "All right—whenever you want to unlock it for me later, that’s fine."
"Then is there anything else you want to say? You should have seen that thing inside just now, right? Your mouth can’t stay idle." Seeing Miko agree, Kaito asked her whether there was anything else she wanted to say.
