Chapter 78: Silent Preparation
As the eight Beasts sensed Kale’s malevolent killing intent born of slaughtering a Dragon, they took multiple steps back in fear.
He was not using the ability ’Gaze of the Monarch’, just radiating his pure killing intent; of course, Kale did not really exude the complete intensity of his bloodlust; otherwise, that alone might be enough to force these creatures into complete suppression.
Just like how Neo could command all the creatures of its same rank through an overbearing form of bloodline authority, or through pure domination via Beast Force.
Kale quickly retracted his killing intent and dashed forward, anticipating the dizzying, erratic movements of the Prism Hornet; he struck the creature first, as it would continue to blast flashes of light, thereby impairing his vision.
On the other hand, the Hornet was quite lacking in physical power and defence, so the beautiful creature went down in a single strike.
Then his gaze went to the Pyro Cobra, which was already lashing its fiery tail at him once more, sizzling the air and ground as it moved forward.
Kale threw his dagger towards the snake’s midsection, like an expert knife-thrower, piercing the creature and pinning it to the wooden floor.
The Impact Bison was charging towards him in a relentless fury, its iron heels hitting the ground in each step, echoing its impending fury.
Kale effortlessly moved away from the charging Bovine and delivered a deadly stab with his dagger into its stomach, piercing its tough hide with ease.
In that instant, the remaining Beasts attacked him all at once. Especially the Zephyr Kestrel with its wind-based strikes, which were quite bothersome; he had already received a few more cuts from the bird’s sharp, invisible wind slashes.
Just like that, one by one, Kale defeated all the Beasts with ease.
As for the mercenary team members, Kale did not bother telling them to attack. Because, with their limited combat ability, Kale would gain no benefit from fighting them.

Besides, unlike him, most Tamers were not supposed to fight themselves until they were at least of Grandmaster or Lord rank.
Kale was the anomaly here.
He stated towards the Wolfberg mercenary team members, "You guys worked together much better this time."
"But there are still some flaws here and there," he continued, listing what each creature could do better...
"The Impact Bison simply charges ahead mindlessly, without looking forward; it’s quite easy to avoid its straight-line charge. It needs to have the ability to change directions in case the opponent attempts to dodge..."
"The Pyro Cobra could do so much more than the whip attack; its entire body is a flaming weapon, and its bite should have the capacity to inject scorching venom into its prey."
"The Prism Hornet should use its speed to its advantage, instead of causing blinding flashes repeatedly."
"The Gloom Weasel should have the ability to hide in the shadows for much, much longer period of time, but it seems to lack the vicious and ruthless tenacity of a dark elemental creature."
Then he added after a short pause, "The Sulfur Hyena, that thing was the most useless in this entire battle; it does not seem to coordinate well, and it possesses more than just an acidic maw. What happened to its claws and great stamina to keep fighting?"
"The Quartz Gopher should not just be able to dig into the ground but also drag something within the ground."
"The Glacier Otter, instead of just freezing my feet, could have jumped onto my head and attempted to freeze my brain."
The Cursed Tamer sighed, "And lastly, the Zephyr Kestrel, I think this creature was the most effective one; it did everything to the best of its abilities, but maybe its range and speed could be further improved."
He stared towards the mercenary woman who owned the Zephyr Kestrel, and said, "Well done, Leda. Your bird gave Neo a hard fight as well."
After that, the group left for the day, reviewing their training with Kale and preparing for the next day.
Kale sat down and looked towards Neo, who instantly activated the Octagon Trait and began healing him through the bond. The Hydra inched closer to him and hurled insults at him through the bond.
As pain coursed through his veins as he was being healed, Kale chuckled at Neo’s mocking intent, "Well, buddy, unlike you, I don’t have a nearly impenetrable defence to tank all of their attacks and fight like a mindless bull."
But the Nemesis Hydra only snorted at him, as if to say those words were nothing but excuses from its master.
Suddenly, Kale noticed something after his wounds were completely healed: the first time Neo healed Kale and himself, it did not cost Neo much Beast Force.
But this time, strangely, healing him alone cost a much greater amount of Beast Force from the reserves.
He nudged the system just to be sure. Words flashed in front of his eyes,
[Host is correct in his assumption.]

[Healing consecutively within a short period, especially for the Host, will result in compounded expenditure of the Beast Force.]
[The host can heal at most 5 times per day with the current Beast Force reserves.]
Kale frowned; five complete heals a day, and that’s only considering if he was willing to expend all the Beast Force reserves.
Which naturally could not be used for that purpose alone, because the Hydra itself needed to use most of the Beast Force during prolonged battles.
Kale sighed; it seemed he would have to be much more careful about this particular matter and not get injured as much as possible.
He put Neo on his shoulders and walked to the balcony section of the training chamber.
A gust of cold wind suddenly hit him. Kale inhaled deeply, looking at the near-endless green; he could see the destroyed mountain ranges far in the distance.
From time to time, a few large flying Beasts would glide through the blue skies, white clouds dancing beneath streaks of sunlight.
Due to his enhanced senses, he could also hear countless Beasts fighting among themselves far away; one or two trees would be destroyed in the process, falling.
Due to the green leaves of the massive trees covering almost the entirety of Tigerwood Forest as far as he could see, little could be examined about what was happening beneath.
No one would know if multiple Beast Hordes were already silently gathering from all sides, and even if they were, Kale was sure that the forces of the Greenroot Guild could not go beyond the confines of the Base and launch preemptive strikes against the enemy.
Even powerful Tamers likely could not do so.
For example, the Overlord-ranked Guilmaster could easily command his few Ancient-ranked Beasts to eradicate all impending dangers if he wished.
But the most likely reason he could not do so was that, if he deployed his Ancient-rank Beasts, the mighty creatures secretly lying within the deep trenches of the Tigerwood forest would wake and start battling them.
That quagmire likely tied Sir Rivaldo’s hands; the only reason he could perhaps fight off the Mountain Wood Tiger was that the creature, of its own accord, approached the Greenroot Base.
Kale sighed as he thought over all this; of course, he could be wrong.
He whispered, "Neo, fly about 50 meters ahead and scan everything with your senses."
The Hydra hesitated for a moment but eventually obeyed Kale’s command, flapping its wings with tremendous force.
The Hydra could barely move forward, so it began using the Beast Force to encase itself. Only then did the wind’s force start to affect Neo a bit less.
Neo scanned all around, feeling everything as far as its senses could stretch out.
But Kale knew that the range of Neo’s senses was quite limited, so he ordered, "System, scan everything with Neo as the focal point, and give me a compiled report of all data."
[Scanning everything beneath the Tigerwood Forest, for a 200-meter radius.]

[Scanning... scanning... scanning...]
[Gathering all data.]
[Compiling all necessary information.]
[Ding! Displaying the gathered information.]
Kale first commanded Neo to come back, as the Hydra struggled to keep itself in position amid the violent winds.
Then he looked at the screen, and his eyes flashed. There was confusion and understanding both in his eyes.
Then Kale repeated this process, scanning in all four directions for about 200 meters through the system, again using Neo as a focal point.
Now, without even being informed by the Guild personnel, he had an idea of what kind of attack might come from each direction. At the same time, this information might not be entirely accurate, but it was still important to him.
As he could now be better prepared, no matter what position he was put in or what creatures he would have to face.
Kale then proceeded to the Library within that Guild, where rare and invaluable information about the Tigerwood forest is kept.
He had to learn more about this region’s beast ecology, geography, and pretty much everything in general.
Because he found from the system’s scanned data that there were many species of Beast he did not recognise properly and knew nothing about their abilities and weaknesses.
