Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Qian Lan
"What’s the bet?"
"We’ll bet on earnings. The losing team has to hand over 5,000,000 in profits to the other side."
Long Ming’s brow furrowed slightly when he heard this. Xiaoqi’s team didn’t have great earnings to begin with. If they lost and had to give up another 5,000,000, their numbers would look even worse.
This was escalating into a fight to the death.
Xiaoqi was stunned for a moment, hesitating.
"Sister Qi, don’t get carried away."
Cloud Fish and the others quickly lowered their voices, trying to dissuade her.
Zhao Yi and his group also coughed, adding their own advice.
"I think we should just forget it!"
"I don’t mind. If Xiaoqi is scared, we can forget it too."
An Qing looked at Xiaoqi with a grin.
"Who says I’m scared? I’ll take that bet!"
Xiaoqi had decided to go all in.
"Excellent! It’s a deal!"
An Qing turned and left without another word.
"We’re going to gather our people too."
Zhao Yi and the others sighed helplessly, made an excuse, and left.
Cloud Fish and the others then turned to Xiaoqi, their voices laced with worry.
"Sister Qi, is this really okay?"
"What’s there to be afraid of? I specially invited Mr. Long Ming this time. There’s no way we’ll have a problem!"
Xiaoqi still had a lot of confidence in Long Ming.
"Heh, I’ll do my best."
The corner of Long Ming’s mouth twitched slightly.
Just then, the noisy scene suddenly quieted down. Long Ming and the others subconsciously turned to look.
Luoxue was walking over gracefully, dressed in a white trench coat.
On her left was a handsome man with a prominent air about him, dressed in a custom black suit with side-swept bangs. On her right was a pure-looking young woman with delicate features and straight black hair, wearing a jet-black long dress.
Behind them were two more people: a tall man with a chiseled face wearing a loose T-shirt, and a fair-skinned boy in a white shirt and glasses.
"Who are those four?"
Long Ming asked Xiaoqi in a low voice.
"They’re all our bosses. The ones in front are Fu Fuqing, Luoxue, and Zhihan. The two in the back are Jing Chuan and Jiang Heng."
Xiaoqi gave Long Ming a brief introduction.
"Mm."
Long Ming nodded slightly.
"Miss, you’re here."
Mira and the others walked over to greet Luoxue.
"Yes. Is everyone here?"
"Almost. We still have about ten minutes until the assembly time."
"Good."
Luoxue nodded slightly.
Suddenly, the deafening roar of an engine ripped through the air. A luxurious red supercar sped over and screeched to a halt on the street by the entrance of the Star Wish Cafe.
Two more luxury cars immediately pulled up and stopped behind the red supercar.
Mira and the others frowned, their brows furrowing as they looked over.
The car door opened, and out stepped a stunningly voluptuous beauty. She wore a wine-red formal dress that was stretched taut across her chest, revealing a deep, pale cleavage.
The doors of the other two cars opened as well. A handsome young man with red hair, side-swept bangs, a vicious look in his eyes, and expensive clothes got out, along with a muscular giant who was two meters tall.
When Fu Fuqing and the others saw her, their brows tightened as well.
The beautiful woman led her companions over to Luoxue and said with a smile,
"Luoxue, what a coincidence! The Star Wish Guild has gathered so many people. Don’t tell me you’re planning a dungeon run too?"
"Qian Lan, is there a problem?"
"Not at all. I’m just concerned about you, you know? Wondering if you need any help."
"We don’t."
"Are you sure? The Moon Wave Guild just handed over one billion 1-D coins to the All Stars Guild not long ago. I heard you only contributed less than 200 million. Isn’t that a little low?"
Qian Lan looked at Luoxue with a sly smile.
"That’s none of your concern."
"Alright then. I forgot to mention, we’re also running a major dungeon today. If your earnings aren’t ideal, I can spare some for you."
"Thank you, but no thank you."
Luoxue refused politely.
"Heh, our Miss Qian Lan is kind enough to offer help, and you don’t even appreciate it."
The red-haired man behind Qian Lan sneered.
"Liu Hui, don’t say that. Since little sister Luoxue doesn’t appreciate the offer, we should get going."
Qian Lan smiled and led Liu Hui and the other man away.
Long Ming’s eyes turned cold when he saw Liu Hui. He then turned and asked Xiaoqi,
"Who are those people?"
"That’s Qian Lan, the proprietress of the Moon Wave Star Cafe and the guild master of the Moon Wave Guild. They’re also subordinate to the All Stars Guild. They’re extremely annoying, though, and just came over to show off."
"Oh? I thought I heard something about offering up Game Coins?"
"That’s right. We have to offer up Game Coins to the All Stars Guild periodically. The reason we’re running this major dungeon now is actually closely related to the Observatory dungeon from the day before yesterday."
"How so?"
"The All Stars Guild suffered disastrous losses in the Observatory dungeon. They lost a huge amount of equipment, so they’re in desperate need of game funds."
Xiaoqi explained to Long Ming.
"Wait, I thought some of their people survived? Couldn’t they bring the equipment back?"
"You must not have seen how it ended. After Red Ghost completed the mission, the surviving members of the three major guilds kept fighting each other inside. In the end, only a few people made it out, and they couldn’t possibly carry all that equipment."
"Oh, so you’re saying the hall is littered with dropped backpacks?"
"Exactly. That’s why the All Stars Guild will definitely be running the Observatory dungeon today, to bring that equipment out."
"Who’s leading the team?"
"That I don’t know. But it definitely won’t be Qian Wei and his group. After all, they have a limited number of invitation letters."
"If that’s the case, the Sin Abyss Guild and the Star God Guild will definitely go in too."
"Yep. Today’s stream is going to be amazing. Too bad we can’t watch it, since we have our own dungeon run."
"But what if everyone who goes in dies in the hall again? Won’t the pile of backpacks just keep growing? Wouldn’t the losses be even greater then?"
Long Ming analyzed thoughtfully.
"That’s a real possibility. But the reason we have to contribute such a massive amount of money isn’t entirely because of the Observatory incident. It seems like the All Stars Guild is planning something big."
Xiaoqi said after a moment of thought.
"Mm."
Long Ming gave a slight nod.
At that moment, Fu Fuqing turned to Luoxue and said,
"Luoxue, until the final results are in, it’s not certain who will win or lose."
"Yes. Then I’ll be counting on all of you. Everyone, head to the fourth floor of the Star Wish Club. It’s time to get ready."
Luoxue nodded slightly, then gave instructions to the crowd.
"Okay."
Mira and the others followed Luoxue toward the club building.
Long Ming, Xiaoqi, and the rest followed.
Soon, they reached the fourth floor of the club. The area was divided into small private rooms, each marked with a machine number.
Xiaoqi instructed Long Ming,
"You take machine number 92. Once you log into the game, I’ll send you the coordinates to meet up."
"No problem."
Long Ming nodded and entered private room 92.
Compared to room 666, which he often used, this one was tiny. The interior was simple, containing only a game pod and nothing else.
