Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Sudden Change

Long Ming opened the game pod, lay down inside, and started the game.

When he opened his eyes again, he was in the City of Stars.

Long Ming opened his warehouse and took out the Bacca rifle, equipping all five of his remaining 5.56mm magazines. He also equipped two high-potency healing injectors, then opened the shop to search for concealable body armor.

Three pieces of body armor popped up, each priced at 500,000.

Long Ming was a little surprised. This concealable body armor was more expensive than the regular kind. He knew that standard body armor usually cost only around 50,000 to 200,000.

Still, Long Ming clicked to buy one and put it on underneath his clothes.

Although he was going in as a member of the Rat Group, Long Ming was prepared for a fight, so he had gathered some gear.

Once he was ready, Long Ming raised his wristband to check the coordinates Xiaoqi had sent and immediately headed over.

He soon arrived at the designated coordinates.

There, Xiaoqi handed Long Ming a cotton-padded jacket and a pair of gloves.

"Hurry, put these on."

"Huh? What kind of dungeon are we running?"

Long Ming asked quizzically as he put on the jacket.

"A very cold one."

Xiaoqi explained briefly.

Hearing this, Long Ming quickly raised his wristband and tapped it, equipping his purple-grade lighter.

Xiaoqi then picked up an automatic pistol and two spare magazines and handed them to Long Ming.

"Here."

"They’re even giving us weapons?"

Long Ming took them in surprise.

"Everyone gets one. The Rat Group gets pistols, and the rest of the combat personnel get submachine guns and automatic rifles."

"The guild is really sparing no expense this time?"

"Yeah. If our profits don’t exceed 100 million, we’re going to lose a ton of money. You know, we used 105 invitation letters. Each one costs 300,000, which means the invitations alone cost 31.5 million, not to mention all the other investments."

Xiaoqi explained to Long Ming.

"I understand."

Long Ming nodded slightly.

Soon, everyone was ready and lined up in formation.

The Star Wish Guild had a total of 105 participants for this operation, including 50 in the combat group and 50 in the Rat Group.

At that moment, Luoxue, Fu Fuqing, and the other leaders walked to the front of the formation.

Luoxue scanned the crowd. When her gaze swept over Long Ming, who was standing at the very back of the Rat Group, a flicker of surprise, almost imperceptible, crossed her eyes.

However, she quickly regained her composure and addressed the crowd calmly.

"Everyone, this group mission is extremely important, and the pressure will be immense. We must bring back over 100 million in profit, or the mission will be a failure. But I believe in all of you."

"Yes, ma’am!"

Everyone responded in unison.

Luoxue turned to Jiang Heng and said,

"Distribute the invitation letters."

"Alright."

Jiang Heng then handed the invitations to the captain of each column.

Xiaoqi then distributed the invitations to Long Ming and the others in her group.

"We enter at 8 o’clock sharp. After you arrive on the teleportation platform, everyone is to gather at the southwest corner."

Luoxue said to the crowd after checking the time on her wristband.

"Yes, ma’am!"

Long Ming and the others raised their wristbands, watching the time as they waited.

Soon, it was 8 o’clock.

Long Ming and the others activated the invitations in their hands, disappearing in flashes of white light.

SWOOSH—

The group landed on a teleportation platform.

Long Ming immediately sprinted toward the southwest corner and quickly regrouped with Xiaoqi and the others.

The guild members began to chat excitedly.

"This first clear attempt is going to be intense."

"Heh heh, I’m gonna get my hands on at least ten epic drops this time."

"Dream on!"

...

Just then, more flashes of white light descended continuously.

Players wearing armbands with the Scorpion Guild’s emblem landed, quickly gathering on the other side of the platform. There were about 150 of them.

Seeing this, Jing Chuan spoke to Luoxue, his tone troubled.

"Luoxue, this isn’t good. The Scorpion Guild from the Sinful City is also here to run this dungeon."

"I’m aware."

Luoxue replied nonchalantly.

"Hmph. If they know what’s good for them, we can all mind our own business. But if they dare to cause trouble, I’ll make sure it’s a one-way trip for them."

Fu Fuqing said, his face dark.

"Old Fu, you’re as confident as ever. You haven’t changed a bit."

Zhihan said gently, looking at Fu Fuqing.

"Hmph! How can you succeed if you don’t even have confidence?"

Fu Fuqing retorted coldly.

"Alright, but it doesn’t hurt to be careful."

Luoxue wasn’t blindly confident.

"I know."

Fu Fuqing replied casually.

At that moment, more and more white lights fell from the sky, and unaffiliated players began to appear on the teleportation platform.

Long Ming was taken aback for a moment, then opened his wristband to check.

Civilization Unlocked: Srika World.

Civilization Level: 1

Players: 732/1000.

...

’So many unaffiliated players and small guilds got in,’ Long Ming thought in astonishment, ’and the count is still rising.’

A short while later, the number settled at 832.

Just then, groups of unaffiliated players walked over, aggressively pushing their way into the crowd of Star Wish Guild members.

"Who do you think you are?"

"What are you shoving for?"

...

An Qing and the others demanded angrily from the group of players.

But the unaffiliated players completely ignored An Qing and the others, continuing to push their way in as they pleased.

Fu Fuqing was shoved aside, and three unaffiliated players squeezed in between him and Luoxue.

"What are you doing?"

Fu Fuqing demanded, displeased.

"Nothing. What’s it to you?"

A young man with dyed-yellow hair and a face full of pimples replied with a devil-may-care look.

"You’re asking to die!"

"Ooh, I’m so scared. Go on, hit me!"

"You think I don’t dare?"

A vicious look instantly appeared on Fu Fuqing’s face.

Luoxue’s eyes grew cold, and she reminded Fu Fuqing,

"Don’t attack. Attacking will result in a penalty, and a serious offense could get you kicked off the teleportation platform."

"I didn’t say I was going to do it here," Fu Fuqing explained.

"Oh? You want to kill me inside the game? I’ll be waiting. We’ll see who dies first."

The yellow-haired man sneered in response.

"Xiaoqi, what are these people trying to do?"

Long Ming asked, a bad feeling creeping over him.

"I don’t know either."

Xiaoqi replied, looking completely lost.

Just then, something occurred to Long Ming, and he said with a frown,

"I get it now. We’re all gathered together, so when we enter, we should land together. But if everyone gets mixed up, then when we teleport in, it’s either an immediate bloodbath or we’ll be scattered. These unaffiliated players and small guilds are targeting us."

Just as Xiaoqi was about to speak, five unaffiliated players cut in and surrounded her.

For a moment, Xiaoqi’s cheeks puffed up in frustration.

"Little girl, acting cute won’t help you."

The players taunted her with smiles on their faces.

Long Ming said nothing. He noticed that most of these people were inserting themselves in groups of five. ’When we teleport in, I’ll probably land with them,’ he realized.

At that moment, angry curses erupted from a distance.

"You bastards are really asking for it!"

"If you’ve got the guts, state your name! I’ll fucking kill you!"

...

Long Ming turned his head and stood on his tiptoes to get a look. He saw that the Scorpion Guild members were also being boxed in by the unaffiliated players.

’Looks like we’re not the only unlucky ones.’
