Chapter 417: The Reflection Of Failure

Deep within the celestial void, obscured by the veil of starlight, the ancient guardian observed his challenger. He watched as a blinding halo of thousands of High-Class skill scrolls materialized around the young Sovereign, turning the dark vacuum into a sea of luminescent magic.

’This girl has so many skills... What had she been up to?’ The Senior thought, watching the battle from the shadows, genuinely baffled by the sheer volume of resources she possessed.

"Let’s go!"

A perfectly balanced High-Class sword appeared seamlessly in Mirabella’s grasp. Without a fraction of hesitation, she shot forward like a comet towards the thousands of phantoms. She clashed brutally into their front lines with deep resentment, pouring all her pent-up anger and frustration over her restricted powers into the chaotic battle.

"She is a divine sovereign, so these guys are simply not a match. It’s like an elephant crushing sheep." He muttered to himself, a small frown on his face as he realized her raw physical strength, even without her godly buffs, were astronomical.

BOOOOM!!

Mirabella forcefully leaped backward, kicking off the chest of a crumbling phantom, and instantly vanished, using a High-Class invisibility skill to perfectly mask her presence from their soulless tracking.

BOOM!

She moved swiftly while in that cloaked state, slaughtering the husks non-stop. Bloodless limbs and shattered phantom armor filled the void, and after one whole grueling hour of relentless martial execution, she was finally done.

’Fuck this!! If I could use my powerful skills like blood sucker, I would end this in one second.’ She thought with gritted teeth, staring coldly at the phantom, which violently shattered into dark, dissipating particles.

"Congratulations, you completed the first round, now welcome the second world. You can now use Epic class abilities, bloodlines and weapons." The senior’s resonant voice sounded all over the void, echoing through the stars, while Mirabella simply nodded her head, her breathing perfectly even.

BOOOOM!!

Another massive star in the distance shattered, and from its molten core, five thousand heavily armored phantoms walked out. The suffocating pressure in the void increased tenfold; the weakest among this new legion possessed the terrifying strength of a Level 300 fighter.

"Alright then." Mirabella kept the High-Class sword, discarding it into her spatial storage, and with a flash of brilliant light, her Epic class twin swords appeared firmly in her hands.

"I missed you two."

She raised her glowing swords high into the starry air, a vicious, triumphant smile spreading on her face: "Epic class skill; Swords judgement."

BOOOOM!!!

The fabric of space screamed as thousands of massive, ethereal swords instantly appeared in the sky above her twin blades, their razor-sharp tips aimed directly at the advancing phantom army.

’Huh? Something isn’t right here?! How the hell is that an Epic class skill?! It should be at least a legendary class!’ The senior thought in pure shock, his composure cracking as he watched the ethereal swords shoot downward like a meteor shower towards the phantoms, obliterating their ranks and killing them all in seconds.

’She... She killed them all in one minute?!! Impressive.’ He snapped his fingers to reset the arena, and another star shattered, preparing the next wave of cosmic judgment.

"Third rounds, the rules of the second round also applied in this round." He announced from the unseen heights. But before he could even utter the word ’start’, Mirabella had already wiped out all the spawning phantoms with a localized, catastrophic fire attack that burned the vacuum of space itself.

".....?!!!"

’This?! You didn’t even wait...’ He exhaled a long, deeply tired breath, lightly shaking his head at her absolute lack of restraint, and continued to cycle the dungeon mechanics:

"Okay, let’s start the fourth..."

He suddenly froze, watching her annihilate the fourth wave before the phantoms could even draw their weapons.

"Fifth..." His white eyes went wide in utter disbelief as the fifth legion was evaporated into steam.

"Sixth?"

He swallowed hard, his ancient pride taking a massive blow. ’Was my test always this easy?’ He thought, feeling genuinely depressed as he watched millennia of carefully crafted cosmic trials being treated like a casual warm-up.

"Seventh round, you can now use legendary skills, bloodlines and gears." He said, his voice lacking its previous godly authority, and sighed Inwardly:

’She would wipe out a whole legion in less than ten seconds with epic class skills and weapons, what will happen if she uses legendary class skills?’ He thought, bracing himself for absolute destruction. He watched in awe as all the remaining phantoms violently shattered into dark particles, their spirit energies completely drained.

"Huh? She can also do that?" He exclaimed in shock, forgetting to maintain his stoic facade.

"Mirabella! You did good!"

Accepting the reality of the situation, the Senior finally walked out of the shadows, stepping onto the invisible floor and appearing directly before Mirabella, his arms still formally folded behind his back.

"Of course, these guys are too weak." Mirabella said, casually flicking her wrist and gesturing to the floating sea of dark particles.

’Weak?! These are all Fusion stage cultivators, you killed them all in seconds! You are the monster here.’ He thought, silently mourning his phantom army, and could only nod his head in reluctant agreement at her absurd standards.

"Now, this is the eighth round, your Mother failed in this round." He revealed, his tone dropping to a deadly serious timber.

"...?!"

Mirabella instantly got serious. The arrogant smirk vanished from her face, her sharp gaze fixed intently on the man, who simply nodded, confirming the grim reality of Genevieve’s defeat, and casually waved his hand.

"Huh?"

Mirabella was completely dumbfounded, staring blankly at the object that materialized from the stardust. She stood before a tall, ornate body mirror, a small frown appearing on her face. Apart from her own immaculate reflection, absolutely nothing was special about it; it was just plain, polished wood and a pane of clear glass.

"Why the body mirror?" She asked, turning her head back to the senior for explanation, only to see completely empty space.

"He left just like that? At least explain first." She muttered in annoyance, realizing she was entirely on her own for the trial that broke the strongest woman in history. She cautiously walked towards it, gently placing her pale hand on the cold wooden surface of the frame.

Suddenly, Mirabella froze. Her pupils contracted, and she violently slapped her hand over her mouth as her internal organs seized, violently coughing off a massive mouthful of blood. She pulled her trembling hand away and stared at the thick blood pooling in her palm, a deep, worried frown heavily creasing her face.

’I must hurry, but.’ She stared intently at the mirror, trying to suppress the agonizing pain she was feeling.

"What am I to do in this round? Look at my own reflection? No, it’s not that simple. Mom failed in this round, there must be something I am missing." She muttered to herself, her mind racing. Bringing out a pristine white handkerchief from her spatial storage, she began wiping the dark blood off her hands.

Then, she froze entirely, her breath hitching as she stared directly at the reflection in the glass.

It was staring right back at her. But it wasn’t holding a handkerchief. It wasn’t cleaning its hand. It simply stood perfectly upright, entirely still, its dead, calculating eyes staring directly into her soul.

"You? What are you?" She asked in pure disbelief, her instincts screaming that something was fundamentally wrong. The very next moment, the reflection’s eyes slowly, deliberately blinked, while her own real eyes remained wide open.

"You!! Answer me!" She yelled at it. In response, the entity trapped within the glass merely shot her a cold, malevolent glare.
