Chapter 375: Anomaly

"That was incredible!" Eve added, her voice breathless, witnessing a Level 400 casually erase a squad of elite assassins left her in absolute awe.

"Oh, it’s nothing." Mariana said with a smile, gracefully adjusting the pristine silk of her sleeves.

"Hehehe."

"....?!!"

The two ladies were completely stunned, the blood instantly freezing in their veins. They violently turned their heads to the other ending of the hallway, staring in absolute disbelief at the shattered wall where the very first Ninja Mariana attacked had been thrown.

"I thought he’s dead?!" Eve exclaimed. The air in the corridor suddenly turned foul and suffocating.

"He is indeed dead! I sensed his heart stopped." Mariana muttered, now deeply confused.

"That assassin isn’t dead, how?" Eve added, her eyes wide with mounting terror.

The two watched in horrific fascination as the dark, stealth-woven ninja clothes on the man began to violently burn away, consumed by a corrosive, unnatural heat, revealing red naked skin beneath. To their profound surprise, there was no private part—his anatomy had been completely smoothed over, stripped of human function. But that wasn’t the main issue; beneath his terrifyingly crimson flesh, his red veins were rapidly turning a toxic, bioluminescent green. They stared at the pulsing green veins, as it aggressively reached his eyes, and head, rewriting his very DNA.

GRAAAAA!!

"....?!"

Mariana was stunned, her golden guzheng trembling slightly in her grip. This directly defied every established biological and magical law of Galaxy Fall.

"He turned into a zombie?" Eve gasped, instinctively taking a step back. Undead were common in low-level dungeons, but an elite Level 400 assassin reanimating with anomalous physiology was unprecedented.

GRAAAA!

CRACK!

The two spun around, turning to the dead bodies on the hallway—the innocent nurses, the doctors, the civilian patients who had been slaughtered moments ago. A sickening symphony of snapping cartilage echoed as their bones started creating new, twisted joints, and the next moment, they all stood up. Their skins had turned a sickly, necrotic green, different from the Ninja, who has red skin, and green veins all over.

GRAAAAAAA!!!

The horde of civilian zombies all shot forward, abandoning human limits and running towards the two ladies with feral, bloodthirsty speed.

"What the hell?!!"

Mariana fluidly pulled a string:

DING!

A highly compressed sound wave moved, violently disrupting the air, and smashed heavily into the charging zombies. To their absolute horror, the zombies simply stood for a moment, taking a blast that should have atomized them, and after ten seconds, they shot forward again, completely unharmed. Not a single limb was severed; not a single drop of black blood was shed.

"What the hell?!! These zombies are ordinary humans! There is no way they can withstand even my weakest attack!!" She exclaimed, her composure entirely shattering. In this world, level suppression was an absolute law. A Level 400 strike failing to obliterate a Level 0 civilian corpse meant the very foundational rules of reality were breaking. She desperately turned to Eve:

"Go, and hold your friend!! Now!!" She yelled, her blue gaze not fixed on the incoming horde of green zombies, but entirely locked on the red one, recognizing it as an apex threat.

"Hehehehe."

"....?!"

Eve, who was just about to rush into the room, paused, her boots skidding on the tiled floor. She slowly turned to the destroyed wing of the hospital, where Mariana’s ultimate attack had previously erased the remaining assassins. She stood paralyzed, watching as the microscopic pieces of the other four ninjas, started moving, sliding across the rubble and joining together like liquid metal. The two watched in sheer disbelief, as the four ninjas were formed again from nothingness, but now, they were all zombies, just like the first, their skin burning red with toxic green veins.

"What the hell is going on?!!" She yelled, finally comprehending the sheer scale of the nightmare, and rushed into the room, Mariana quickly following behind her.

DING!

She played another frantic note, as a massive, impenetrable golden wall appeared before them, completely closing the entrance and sealing them inside with Buck.

"Something is crazily wrong here!!" Mariana muttered, her breathing ragged. She tapped her glowing Galaxy bracelet as a holographic screen appeared, bypassing local interference, and a lady’s face showed on the other end, wearing the pristine uniform of the Eagle Empire.

"Guild leader."

"I need you to call all members of Guardians!! They should guard the empire! And the teleportation circle! Understood?!!" Mariana ordered, her voice laced with an unprecedented, raw panic. If this infection could nullify magic and ignore levels, it could wipe out entire nations if it reached the central teleportation hubs.

"Huh? Guild leader, why the sudden rush?" The lady stammered, a bit confused, entirely unaccustomed to seeing her untouchable leader sweat.

"Just get on with it!!" Mariana snapped at her, abandoning all diplomatic grace.

"Right away!!" The Lady nodded fervently, and Mariana instantly disconnected the call.

BAM!!!

A single, terrifying punch smashed right into the golden wall, instantly creating deep, spiderweb cracks on it.

"What the???" Mariana was deeply stunned. She was a Lv400 All-bloodlines powerhouse; her defensive barriers could withstand the concentrated breath of an Elder Dragon. Even the elite red-skinned ninjas shouldn’t be able to create cracks on her attack with one punch.

"Something is seriously wrong with those things! Even Galaxy Fall can’t scan their details." She said, turning her wrist to show Buck and Eve her glowing bracelet. Where there should have been a stat block, level indicator, and weakness breakdown, the system interface simply returned a glitching, blank error.

"What will happen to Galaxy City if those things escape outside?" Buck asked in a low, trembling voice. Sitting helplessly on his bed, his previous thirst for petty revenge against Jessica completely evaporated, replaced by the suffocating dread of an apocalyptic extinction event.

"Um..." Mariana’s eye twitched uncontrollably, her mind flashing back to the destroyed wing of the hospital, realizing the walls wouldn’t hold.

"Um... Three Master teachers are in Galaxy City, they will help." She said, trying to rationalize a defense strategy, and turned her gaze back to the cracked, failing wall:

"But these things... They are completely immune to my attack, even the people who got infected. I don’t think." She shook her head, trying to banish the dark, catastrophic conclusion forming in her mind:

"Good thought." She muttered to herself, desperately clinging to a sliver of false hope.

BAM!!!!

More jagged cracks appeared on the golden wall, the deafening sound of shattering energy echoing in the small room.

"Come on, let’s go!!" She moved urgently towards the two, her fingers dancing over her instrument, and played a rapid, complex note:

DING!

A spherical golden barrier appeared around them, perfectly covering the whole bed, encasing Eve, Mariana, and the injured Buck in a bubble of energy.

BOOOOM!!

The reinforced golden wall exploded violently into glowing rocks, and debris, as the five red skin zombies walked slowly inside. They moved their hollow, dead red eyes on the empty room, finding their prey gone.

"Hehehe... Teleported away! Hehehe, destroy Galaxy City!" The Leader roared, his vocal cords tearing as he spoke with a terrifying, unnatural sentience.

GRAAAAAA!!!!

With his horrific words, all the green-skinned zombies shot out from the hospital’s shattered windows and doors, flooding like a virulent tide and entering the street.

_

High above the metropolis, Mariana, Eve, and Buck, who was still safely situated on his hospital bed, abruptly appeared in the night air, the golden barrier floating around them and keeping them aloft:

"My god." Eve muttered, her hands pressing against the translucent barrier, watching the absolute chaos below. The three just realized the whole sprawling, majestic city of Galaxy City was already teeming with zombies, and below. High-level Awakeners were busy frantically fighting them off, deploying massive spells that did nothing, and some getting violently tore into pieces by the relentless, immune horde.

"Why are there so many red skin ones?!" Buck asked in profound shock, pointing down at the commercial district, seeing more than fifty red skin zombies, standing motionlessly on a towering rooftop, silently watching the chaos below like commanding generals orchestrating the end of the world.

"Something is seriously wrong here." Mariana stated under her breath, a cold sweat rolling down her temples.
