Jasper Shaw had wanted to say that he could have her back, too, but when he thought about his relationship with Chloe Sinclair, he didn’t know how to bring it up.
Chloe Sinclair paused for a moment, then a slow smile spread across her face. Looking at the disappointment in Jasper Shaw’s eyes, she asked, "Can’t I ask Mr. Shaw to have my back?"
Jasper Shaw’s expression faltered. When he processed her words, he nodded slowly and said earnestly, "You can."
"From now on, Mr. Shaw will be your guardian angel."
"My little savior."

Jasper Shaw barely remembered how he left the lab.
When she said that, Jasper Shaw no longer hesitated and told her everything that was on his mind.
After leaving the lab, Jasper Shaw got into his Bentley.
It was a summer evening, and a pink sunset painted the sky over Emberfall.
Jasper Shaw watched the scenery blur past the window and said, "Give the order. Make sure those former roommates of Chloe’s are never seen again."
The black Bentley shot like a streak of light down the silver-gray highway.
But Jasper Shaw’s words were clearly etched into Ian Winters’s mind.
Because Ian Winters knew it was all over for Miss Chloe’s former roommates.
But as Jasper’s assistant, he was well aware of what Chloe Sinclair had been through. Therefore, not only did he feel no sympathy for the women, he actually felt a deep sense of cathartic satisfaction.
School bullying, organized ostracization—it was more than anyone should have to bear.
The bullies might have thought of it as a small matter, but it was precisely these "small matters" that could cause irreparable harm.
A good punishment was the only way people like that would learn to behave.

Back in the lab, Chloe Sinclair immediately began working on the blueprints and proposal for modifying the Mark Device.
Although she was very confident in her abilities, she couldn’t afford to make a single mistake.
To save time, Chloe Sinclair decided to spend the night in the lab.
Over the course of the night, Chloe Sinclair drew over a hundred pages of blueprints.
Just as the sky began to lighten, Chloe Sinclair stretched and glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already four in the morning.
Her eyes felt sore, and she blinked a few times with difficulty.
"Eight, I’m going to sleep for two hours. Wake me up at six to work out."
With her system, Chloe Sinclair didn’t really need much rest. But the human body and mind still get tired, so she made sure to get at least a few hours of sleep every day.
Usually, Eight would have screamed and complained about a request like this. But this time, seeing how truly exhausted Chloe Sinclair looked, it surprisingly agreed without a fuss.
At six o’clock, Eight woke Chloe Sinclair up.
Ten minutes later, she was out for her usual run near the apartment.
Chloe Sinclair had been running frequently lately and discovered that many people in her apartment complex also enjoyed running. As a result, she often had to slow her pace.
Even so, most of them had a hard time keeping up with her.
Today, for instance, a few men were running behind her. The one at the front of their little group looked to be a college student, and his breathing was steady.
But by the seventeenth lap of trying to keep up with her, he was clearly running out of steam and his pace slowed.
The others had fallen behind by a full lap.
Chloe Sinclair glanced back at the man who was stubbornly trying to compete with her, then picked up her pace and left him in the dust.
Shawn Styles was left speechless.
’How does this girl have so much stamina?’
Shaking his sweat-drenched hair, Shawn Styles walked over to Coach Young.
But the first thing out of Coach Young’s mouth was, "It’s been days. Have you even talked to her yet?"
