Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Backing Up the Little Girl
Linda Warren hadn’t expected Mr. Shaw to see her expression. Her face instantly changed, and she quickly shook her head.
"Linda Warren, I thought you were at least somewhat intelligent. I never imagined you’d be an idiot, just like Seth Shaw."
Seth Shaw was Mr. Shaw’s son, yet the old man’s face showed not a single trace of fatherly affection.
He spoke of his own son as if he were talking about a stranger.
The corner of Linda Warren’s mouth twitched. She was about to retort, but Mr. Shaw cut her off. "Linda Warren, no one can bail you out of the mess you’ve made this time. Just you wait and see how Seth Shaw treats you then."
Having said his piece, Mr. Shaw leaned on his cane and slowly made his way upstairs, supported by the butler.
Downstairs, Linda Warren stood stunned for a long moment before she suddenly realized something was wrong.
She hurriedly pulled out her phone, only to find no trending topics about her.
She breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hmph. Just some girl brought back from the countryside. Does she really think she’s fit for the big stage?"
Mr. Shaw hadn’t reached the top of the stairs yet. He was only halfway up when he heard Linda Warren’s remark. He scoffed inwardly, turning his head. His hawk-like eyes bored into the back of Linda Warren’s head below.
He then turned away and asked suddenly, "Does Chi have a girlfriend?"
The butler, taken aback, shook his head. "I’m not entirely sure, sir," he said honestly. "As you know, the Eldest Young Master is always busy with work. He doesn’t even have a female assistant."
’If the Eldest Young Master’s private life weren’t so impeccable, I’d almost start to wonder about... other things.’
"Chi called me today," Mr. Shaw said after a long moment of silence.
The butler was slightly taken aback.
Because of what had happened in the past, the Eldest Young Master hadn’t been in contact with the family for a very long time.
Of everyone in the Shaw family, Mr. Shaw and the Eldest Young Master likely had the closest relationship.
But even then, news from the Eldest Young Master was pitifully rare. To find out how he was doing, they had to get updates from Assistant Winters.
He had never expected the Eldest Young Master to take the initiative to call home this time.
The butler was a little curious. "What did the Eldest Young Master say?" he asked.
Mr. Shaw smiled mysteriously. "Nothing much. Just said he needed to back up a certain young lady, and that I should keep an eye on the family."
He finished with a look that said, ’You get what I mean’.
Having been by Mr. Shaw’s side for decades, the butler naturally understood exactly what he meant.
He broke into an avuncular smile of his own.
"Shall I go and scout things out for you in a few days?"
Mr. Shaw immediately shook his head. "No, let’s not be hasty. Knowing Chi, things have probably just barely started. Have someone monitor online activity and see if you can figure out who she is."
The butler nodded quickly and went to carry out Mr. Shaw’s instructions.

Chloe Sinclair went home and slept for three hours.
When she woke up, she had a meal and then started on her paper.
Around 1:00 PM, the director sent her a message.
Director Warren: [Chloe, the editing is done. Web traffic is highest at 8:00 PM. What do you think, can we release the hard evidence in a few hours?]
Chloe Sinclair: [Okay.]
After a moment’s thought, however, Chloe Sinclair decided to give the director a heads-up.
Chloe Sinclair: [I have my own plans for what’s next, but it won’t change anything on your end.]
Director Warren’s heart skipped a beat. He had a feeling Chloe Sinclair was about to make a huge move.
He was right.
