Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Linda Warren Is Your Father’s...
Jasper Shaw raised an eyebrow, lifting his gaze slightly. "Who?"
Ian Winters hesitated for a moment. Seeing Jasper Shaw’s impassive expression, he said, "There’s only one person who could claim a connection to the Shaw Group... and that would be your father’s..."
Suddenly, Ian Winters stopped short. He glanced at Jasper Shaw, a flicker of worry crossing his face.
He was afraid his boss would fire him if he uttered that word.
But Jasper Shaw clearly hadn’t caught on. Seeing his assistant trail off, a flicker of impatience showed in his eyes. "Who?"
Ian Winters had no choice. Head bowed, his voice was barely a whisper. "If I’m not mistaken, your father’s mistress is named Linda Warren."
"Hah!"
Hearing the name, Jasper Shaw’s lips curled into a scornful smirk.
"That woman has some nerve."
Ian Winters nodded in complete agreement.
After all, everyone knew that at the Shaw Group, President Shaw was the one solely in charge. He had an iron grip on the shares, and even the veteran board members had to follow his lead.
As for the elder President Shaw...
...he was already a spent force.
Everyone within the Shaw Group knew President Shaw and the elder President Shaw were at odds. Though father and son, certain events had turned them into bitter enemies.
The moment his boss, Jasper Shaw, officially took control of the Shaw Group, his first order of business was to seize the elder President Shaw’s shares and kick him out of the company.
Although he still collected substantial dividends each year, the elder President Shaw remained resentful.
He’d even sent a corporate spy to infiltrate the Shaw Group last time. Fortunately, his boss had discovered the mole; otherwise, the consequences would have been disastrous.
"Don’t worry about the elder President Shaw. For everything else, do as you see fit."
Ian Winters understood immediately.
’Linda Warren has provoked the boss this time. Her life is about to get very difficult.’
’After all, even the boss’s own father was eating out of his hand now.’
With that, Ian Winters turned and left.
After learning about Linda Warren, Jasper Shaw thought for a moment, then made a call.
Chloe Sinclair hadn’t received a text from Jasper Shaw, but she was surprised to get a call from him instead.
Chloe Sinclair was a little surprised. Without thinking twice, she answered.
"I didn’t know Linda Warren before. I only just learned who she is."
Jasper Shaw spoke first, his voice deep and resonant, like an elegant cello. It sent a pleasant tingle through Chloe Sinclair’s ears.
Instantly, Chloe Sinclair’s mood brightened.
She heard Jasper Shaw continue, "However, Linda Warren does have some connection to the Shaw Family. I will be sure to handle this matter appropriately."
When he finished, his voice held a hint of apology. "I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to cause you trouble. I’ll treat you to dinner when I’m free in a couple of days."
’This was the second meal he owed her.’
Chloe Sinclair, however, was surprised by how readily Jasper Shaw apologized.
’After all, the Mr. Shaw from her past life had rarely ever apologized to anyone.’
"I forgive you." Chloe Sinclair raised an eyebrow as a thought suddenly struck her. "If I tear into her online, will that cause you any trouble?"
Jasper Shaw paused, stunned. It took him a moment to realize that she was actually worried about him—afraid of causing him trouble.
A warmth spread through his heart.
’He didn’t know why, but he felt a strange sense of familiarity with this young woman, as if they had known each other for a very long time.’
’No matter what Chloe Sinclair did, he never found it annoying.’
’That had never happened before.’
’He had originally wanted to invite Chloe Sinclair out to talk, but the company had been in turmoil for the last few months. He’d had to come back to take charge, and he’d been so busy lately that he’d been sleeping at the office.’
’He wondered when he’d get a chance to see her.’
