Chapter 345: Chapter 345: Leave Her

"If you say no, Wu Sheng, I will hold you responsible."

The moment Wu Sheng finished speaking, Ge Ba quickly interjected.

"Leave her, Wu Sheng." Ge Ba stared straight at Wu Sheng and repeated himself.

"Leave her, Wu Sheng."

"If you don’t leave her, while you’re locked up, I will go after her again."

When Wu Sheng heard that last sentence, he couldn’t suppress the fury in his eyes.

"Ge Ba!"

Ge Ba shot to his feet and turned his back on Wu Sheng. "I’ll give you three days. Think it over."

He didn’t want to look into Wu Sheng’s eyes. He didn’t have to; he could already feel the anger and killing intent in them.

He didn’t want to see it. He squeezed his eyes shut, tuned out the world, and strode away.

Wu Sheng watched Ge Ba’s retreating back. Once the anger subsided, he sank helplessly into his chair.

Ge Ba hadn’t voiced his intentions, but Wu Sheng understood.

’Who would have thought he harbored such feelings?’

’Such feelings...’

Wu Sheng recalled the way Su Li had looked at him before, and all the times she seemed hesitant to speak.

Su Li had probably noticed long ago but just hadn’t told him.

Wu Sheng couldn’t even begin to describe how he felt.

He’d always told Su Li he was popular, and he wasn’t exaggerating. He had always handled such matters cleanly and decisively, especially after meeting Su Li.

He’d nipped all potential romances in the bud and kept his distance from all women, fearing that unrequited affection would breed jealousy and trouble.

But in the end... in the end...

"Boss, are you okay?"

Wa Wa Lian’s voice shattered Wu Sheng’s train of thought. Seeing the worry in Wa Wa Lian’s eyes, Wu Sheng softened his expression.

"I’m fine."

Wa Wa Lian scratched his head. "Boss, we have people watching over Sister-in-law. Her safety is guaranteed, so don’t worry."

Wu Sheng nodded. "Thanks for your hard work."

Wu Sheng had been concerned about Su Li’s safety all along. Yesterday, after meeting with Mr. Zhang and hearing that Ge Ba might be released, he had already made arrangements.

Someone would be secretly protecting Su Li twenty-four hours a day.

"Boss, what’s the plan now?" Wa Wa Lian asked Wu Sheng.

A shadow passed over Wu Sheng’s eyes as he asked back, "What do you think we should do?"

Wu Sheng’s gaze was too sharp, and Wa Wa Lian lowered his head sheepishly.

’What else can we do? We do what needs to be done, of course.’

"We only have three days. Listen carefully to what comes next..."

’Giving me three days to think? Does he think I’m going to become a completely different person in three days?’

He didn’t need to consider it, but he would use these three days to turn the case on its head.

Two hours later, Su Li saw Wa Wa Lian in her hospital room again.

This time, Wa Wa Lian came openly.

He even brought fruit, having come specifically to check on her.

Seeing Su Li, he grinned and called out, "Sister-in-law."

Hearing him call her that, Su Li’s heavy heart was suddenly filled with an urge to both laugh and cry.

"Uh... you can just call me Su Li." ’It seems a little early to be calling me that.’

Wa Wa Lian blinked. "How could I just use your name? You’re our sister-in-law."

’She’s the boss’s fiancée! How could I just use her name?!’

"Sister-in-law, the boss wanted me to give you a message. He said he’s doing fine and that you shouldn’t worry about anything. He’ll come to see you in a couple of days, and the person who hurt you will end up where they belong."

Wa Wa Lian relayed Wu Sheng’s words. "I just saw the boss, and he rushed me over here to bring you the news."

As soon as Su Li heard this, she forgot all about the "Sister-in-law" title and asked anxiously.

"You saw him? Is he really okay?"

Wa Wa Lian nodded vigorously. "He’s perfectly fine! Don’t worry, Sister-in-law. The boss has been through thick and thin. He said as long as you’re okay, everything’s okay."

That certainly sounded like something Wu Sheng would say. Su Li nodded. "I understand."

"However... you don’t have to be so formal. Just speaking to me normally is fine. We’re practically acquaintances."

Wa Wa Lian scratched his head. "I guess that’s true."

"The boss said you should focus on recovering, resting well, and eating well. Don’t be afraid of anything, and don’t worry about your safety."

Su Li nodded. "Okay, I will. Thank you for taking the trouble to come all this way."

Wa Wa Lian shook his head like a drum rattle. "No thanks needed, no thanks needed! Sister-in-law, I’ll be going now. You can call me if you need anything at all."

After Wa Wa Lian left, Li Hongqin came in from outside.

"Was that one of Wu Sheng’s colleagues?"

Su Li nodded. "Yes, the one who’s always with him. He passed on a message from Wu Sheng, saying he’s doing fine."

Li Hongqin nodded. "That’s good."

She let out a sigh of relief, but her brow furrowed again the next second.

The matter of the factory weighed heavily on Li Hongqin’s mind, but she didn’t want to add to Su Li’s stress, so she hadn’t brought it up.

But even though she didn’t say anything, Su Li knew.

"Sister Hongqin, you don’t have to worry so much. Everything with the factory will be all right."

Li Hongqin sighed. "Let’s put the factory aside for now. The main thing is, what are we going to do about that man? They just let him go. What will you do? I’ve been racking my brains but can’t think of anything."

Su Li was quiet for a moment. "Sister Hongqin, I want to be discharged tomorrow."

She couldn’t just stay trapped in the hospital, doing nothing.

Li Hongqin shook her head. "Absolutely not. You haven’t even had the stitches on your leg removed yet."

Su Li looked at her leg. "Aren’t they coming out tomorrow? I can be discharged right after."

Li Hongqin was about to object again, but Su Li quickly reassured her.

"Sister Hongqin, it’s fine. I’m already better, it doesn’t hurt anymore. I know my own body."

She paused. "I want to leave the hospital. Like you said, we can’t just let that man get away with it. I have to do something."

’Wu Sheng is still locked up. How can I possibly rest and recover peacefully?’

Li Hongqin looked like she wanted to say more but stopped herself. Finally, she gave up. "Sigh... I can’t win an argument with you."

The next day, Su Li told the doctor she wanted to be discharged, but the doctor wouldn’t allow it.

Su Li said she had things to take care of. The doctor was understanding but didn’t budge.

"You can’t be discharged yet. However, if you absolutely must go out, I can allow you to leave for an hour or two."

In the end, the doctor did not process Su Li’s discharge papers.

After getting her stitches out that morning, Su Li, sitting in a wheelchair, had Li Hongqin push her and Little Tang Mo to go see Mr. Zhang.

Su Li’s case was still open, but the suspect had been released due to insufficient evidence. When Mr. Zhang saw Su Li arrive, he was overcome with shame.

Mr. Zhang and Su Li spoke for nearly an hour. What they talked about, nobody knew.

After Su Li left, Mr. Zhang went to her home once more, and upon returning, he became very busy.

After being out for two hours, Li Hongqin and Little Tang Mo pushed Su Li back to the hospital.

In the hospital room, an unexpected guest was waiting for Su Li.

"Who are you? Why are you in here?"

Li Hongqin asked doubtfully as she pushed Su Li in and saw the woman standing in the room.

Su Li saw the woman, sighed, and held Li Hongqin back before looking up and asking.

"Can I help you?"

The woman was none other than Ye Xilan.

Ye Xilan shot Su Li a cold glance. "Can I help you? What do you think! I told you to leave Wu Sheng, but you wouldn’t listen. Are you satisfied now?"
