Chapter 99: This Is the Last One

The time was 8:30 p.m.

The passcode unlocked the door. Ryan was evidently stunned the second he set foot into the apartment.

It appeared that his house had undergone a complete makeover. The black couch was decorated with peacock blue cushions. The white dining table was covered in a green table cloth with a wave pattern. A glass vase filled with pink hydrangeas sat quietly above it.

The entire house was decorated with green plants and fresh flowers. There were also several hanging baskets out on the balcony.

Was this still his house?

Did he enter the right place?

"Who could do this?"

He suddenly thought and took out his phone to call the culprit

Ryan’s eyes darkened. The call was answered and he was the first to speak."Who allowed you to change the interior of my house?" The brows on his forehead furrowed.

"So what?" Charlotte replied nonchalantly from the other end of the line.

"I took you to my apartment once, but I didn’t give you permission to redecorate my entire house," Ryan said, his tone firm.

"Isn’t this better?" Charlotte asked, a hint of flirtatiousness in her voice. "It was too empty before. It didn’t even feel cozy like a home should."

"Look, I even have a few cuts on my palm from moving the plants around," Charlotte continued. "Shall I come show you my palm now?"

Thes glanced down at Charlotte’s palm and noticed a few tiny cuts on the tender skin. She hadn’t seen them before.

"You deserve it," Ryan said coldly from the other end of the line, before abruptly hanging up the call.

Charlotte felt a sting from his harsh words. This man didn’t show any care for her at all. She thought to herself, "I won’t be trying so hard to please this cold-hearted man."

"So, you’re already pissing off your beloved?" Thea asked Charlotte.

"You can say that." Charlotte replied, humming a gentle tune.

She noticed the cut on Charlotte’s palm and asked, "Have you used the medicine?"

"No, I forgot to apply it before coming out from home.." Charlotte admitted.

"I have some. Let me apply it for you." Thea offered, opening her bag and taking out an ointment.

As she began to apply the medicine, Charlotte extended her palm and said, "Thea, if you were male, I would surely fall in love with you."

She smiled and replied, "If I were male, I wouldn’t allow you to be near me." as she continued to tend to Charlotte’s cut.

"That’s so mean!" Charlotte exclaimed, pouting playfully.

The car stopped at Thea’s house, and she got out. She walked to her house before turning to say goodbye to Charlotte.

Inside her room..

Thea emerged from the shower, rubbing her hair with a dry towel, when her phone rang. She saw Julia’s name on the screen and answered, "Hello, Julia."

"Sister Thea, are you busy right now?" Julia’s childish voice asked.

"No.. what’s up?"she replied sweetly.

"Can you come visit me this week?" Julia requested.

"This week? Let me check if I have any important things to do,"

"Yes, I’ll come to see you," she promised.

Julia squealed with delight, "Hurray! Mommy...mommy, Sister Thea said she would come visit me!"

"Thea, it would be great if you could visit us. Julia is really looking forward to it," Sarah, Julia’s mother, spoke from the other end of the line.

The next morning, after Grandma returned from her walk, Thea was enjoying a simple breakfast of bread with milk. Grandma Grace asked, "When did you arrive yesterday?"

"Around 9 o’clock..." she replied.

"I fell asleep quickly yesterday." Thea added.

"Grandma, Julia, that kid, you have met in the hospital invited me to visit her, so I’ll go see her today after university."

"Okay..." Grandma Grace said, sitting down opposite to her at the table.

Thea returned after washing her hands and presented ber with a plate. "This?" Grandma Grace asked, her eyes fixed on the offering.

"Your favorite!" Thea exclaimed, her enthusiasm evident.

Grandma Grace had always longed to indulge in pancakes, but her doctor had forbidden it, citing the need to limit her sugar intake.

"Hmm.." Grandma Grace said, having the pancakes and feeling overwhelmed. "Your grandfather likes this too." she uttered.

"Thus, you were able to get Grandpa’s attention." Thea said with a smile.

"Hmm... The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach." Thea added, amused.

"Grandma..." She started to say, but then noticed Grandma Grace taking a pancake from her plate.

"This is the one last I will have... Okay ?" Grandma Grace said, quickly popping the pancake into her mouth.

"Imagine if you get to have your favorite after a long time." She said, relishing the taste.

"Okay, I got it..." Thea said, surrendering with a sigh.

"Thea, did your friend already leave?"

"No, she won’t leave until next week."

After having breakfast, she headed to the University. Today, there were only three classes. After the last class ended, Thea and Charlotte went to the canteen.

"So, you’re going to visit your little friend today?" Charlotte asked, sipping on her drink.

"Yes...before returning home.." She nodded, taking a sip of her orange juice.

"Don’t let her get too close to you." Charlotte warned with a playful tone.

"Why?"

"Because I’ll be jealous." Charlotte replied, bursting into laughter.

Thea chuckled and asked, "What’s so funny?"

Charlotte grinned mischievously. "Yesterday, Grandma went into my room and found that massage oil. She mistook it for another oil and started applying it to her knees. When I saw the scene, I couldn’t stop laughing."

Thea giggled. "What happened next?"

"I snatched the bottle from her hand.." Charlotte said, still chuckling.

"Did you explain what it was?"

"I simply told her it was expired." Charlotte replied, trying to contain her laughter.

"So, how is your mister?" Thea asked, inquiring about Charlotte’s beloved.

"I haven’t called him since yesterday, after he hung up on me in anger over my actions," Charlotte replied with a hint of mischief. "I missed seeing the look on his face at that moment... serves him right," she added, humming a playful tune.

Thea chuckled at Charlotte’s sassy attitude.

"Did you change the interior of his apartment by yourself?" She asked, impressed by Charlotte’s initiative.

"Yes," Charlotte nodded, proudly acknowledging her work.

"I can teach you some techniques that would help you future. Want to learn them from me?" Charlotte asked, offering her expertise.

"Not interested." Thea replied, declining the offer.

"Don’t beg me later. I won’t help you in those matters in the future," Charlotte warned with a playful smile.

Just then, Thea’s phone dinged, indicating an incoming message. She checked her phone and found a text from Julia.

"Did Mr. Thompson send you some messages?" Charlotte asked, noticing a smile on Thea’s face.

"Julia sent me the address to her house," she replied, still smiling.

"You like kids a lot?" Charlotte asked, curious.

"Yes," Thea answered.

"Me too... In the future, I want to have many kids," Charlotte shared her thoughts.

"Then I would be the godmother of your children," Thea said, excited by the idea.

"Yes, yes... we would be the godmothers of each other’s children. Promise," Charlotte said, extending her pinky finger.

"Promise," Thea agreed, linking her pinky finger with Charlotte’s.

"Have you seen the new Professor who is teaching in our University?" one of the girls behind Charlotte whispered.

"Yes..." another girl replied.

"He is so sexy and handsome," the first girl swooned.

"But... he is already taken." Charlotte murmured, overhearing the conversation.

"You know, Thea, Professor Liam is an influential figure, as I have already guessed," Charlotte said, turning to her.

"His family is in the list of top 10 rich families in the world. Mr. Thompson’s friends are all incredible," Charlotte added, sharing her knowledge about Professor Liam’s background.

"I didn’t know about his family background," Thea said. "I’ve only known him for a six months, since I met Ryder. Then he went abroad with his family."

"Hmm, that’s interesting," Charlotte replied. "I’ve learned from my father that Professor Liam’s fiancée is Rachel, who also comes from a wealthy family. Apparently, they’ve been engaged for a long time, since childhood." Charlotte shared, revealing the information she had gathered.

Charlotte was scrolling through her phone when she suddenly became agitated. "That bastard..." she muttered under her breath.

"What happened?" She asked, noticing Charlotte’s distress.
