Chapter 45: Why Sudden Change In Your Plan

"Yes Darling...I have heard the words you murmured previously..It would be the best occasion to wear the outfit..."

"Okay...I will listen to your words.."Thea nodded her head in agreement.

After the car dropped her at her house, both friends bid each other a heartfelt goodbye and parted ways. It was 9 o’clock when she finally entered the living room, and she found her grandma dozing off while sitting on the arm chair,a book was kept open on her lap.She gently took the book from her grandmother’s lap, closed it, and placed it on the table.

Grandma Grace woke up from dozing, her eyes still sleepy as she looked around and found Thea had already come home. "You’re back?" she asked, she woke up from her sleep as she thought her granddaughter arrived.

"Yes, grandma..Just now Charlotte dropped me.." Thea replied as she smiled..

"Grandma, why are you dozing off in the living room?" Thea laughed as she asked back.

"I don’t know, dear. I must have fallen asleep while sitting on this comfortable arm chair." Grandma Grace replied, still trying to shake off the sleep.

"Did you have fun tonight in the restaurant?" She asked back..

"Hmm grandma...Let me show you what I’ve brought today. We went to shop after she learnt that I would be attending Ryder’s Grandparents anniversary."

Grandma Grace gave her a smile as she looked forward to see what her granddaughter had bought.

While Thea sat beside her grandma, she began to show her the things she had purchased with the help of her friend.

"This is the dress I’m going to wear on Ryder’s grandparents’ anniversary. Charlotte chose it for me, along with this jewelry set."

"These are beautiful."Grandma Grace said. "It will look stunning on my lovely granddaughter." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Thea smiled hearing her grandma’s praise. "Grandma, see this? This is the bracelet I chose as a gift for Ryder’s friend on her birthday. Do you think it looks good?"she took out the box and opened it infront of Grandma Grace.

"Hmm, this gift is perfect."

"Grandma, then I’m going to my room. Good night." Thea stood up ,giving her grandma a tight hug and a sweet smile before heading to her room on the second floor, carrying those packets with her.

She entered her room and placed the packets on her table. After changing into nightwear set and freshening up, she decided to put the gown in her wardrobe.

She then took the dress out of the packet, she couldn’t help but admire its beauty and opened the doors of her wardrobe, took out a hanger, and hung the dress with care.

Her gazed swift through her collection of clothes and landed on a stunning gown that her grandma, Grace, had given her as a birthday gift on her 18th birthday.

She took it out, and memories came flooding back. It was one of her favorite dresses.

The elegant evening gown, a gift from Grandma Grace on her 18th birthday, exuded understated sophistication. Crafted from luxurious silk, the floor-length design featured a classic, fitted silhouette with a modest, rounded neckline. Delicate, cap sleeves added a touch of femininity, while a subtle, high waistline emphasized the wearer’s slender figure. A delicate, beaded trim along the neckline added a hint of sparkle, completing the gown’s refined, conservative charm.

Thea’s mind was made up. "This outfit I can wear for Savannah’s birthday party." she thought. She carefully placed the jewelry and gift in her wardrobe, closing the door.

She stood in front of her desk and her eyes caught the calendar.."I should prepare a gift for grandma..she would feel happy if I present it.."she marked a date as she chose to give her grandma a surprise.

Thea’s world revolved around her grandma. She was the only person who truly mattered, and Thea’s greatest desire was to see her happy.

Thea’s parents had built a stable and secure life for their family. Her father, a successful corporate executive, and her mother, a devoted teacher, had worked hard to provide a comfortable home and a bright future for their daughter. According to Grandma Grace, they had also saved a significant amount for Thea’s education and future endeavors.

Her grandma had tried to hand over the savings to Thea, but she had refused, not wanting to burden herself with the weight of her parents’ hard-earned money. So, the savings remained with her grandma.

Her grandma’s eyes would often well up with tears every time she thought about it, remembering the dreams her daughter and son-in-law had for their child. Thea’s refusal to take the money had touched her heart, showing her that Thea valued their love and legacy more than any material wealth.

Her eyes would light up every time her grandma, Grace, told her the story of how her parents met and fell in love. It was a tale she had heard many times, but one she never tired of.

According to Grandma Grace, Thea’s parents met on a sunny afternoon at a quaint little bookstore. Grandma Grace’s daughter, a beautiful and bright young woman, was browsing through the shelves, searching for a rare novel. Thea’s father, Grandma Grace’s son-in-law, a handsome and ambitious young man, was sitting at a nearby table, working on a project.

As fate would have it, Thea’s mother accidentally knocked over a stack of books, and her father who noticed it went to help her pick them up.When he bent down ,their eyes met, and they exchanged warm smiles. Grandma Grace would say that it was as if time stood still in that moment.

Her father was smitten by her mother’s kindness, intelligence, and beauty. Her mother, in turn, was captivated by his charm, ambition, sense of humor and personality.

Grandma Grace would smile, remembering the way her daughter and son-in-law used to talk about each other, their eyes were filled with love and adoration. They were each other’s rock, supporting and encouraging each other through life’s ups and downs.

Thea loved listening to this story, feeling grateful for the love that her parents shared, and the love that they had passed down to her. She felt happy knowing that their love had created a warm and nurturing environment for her to grow and thrive.

Thea’s father, too, had experienced the pain of losing his parents at a young age. He had an elder brother, who, in a harsh turn of events, refused to take Thea in after her parents passed away. This same brother had been his father’s companion during their childhood, growing up together under the care of their paternal aunt in a foreign land.

After completing his studies, Thea’s father returned to his birthplace, seeking to reconnect with his roots. It was there that he met Thea’s mother, and their hearts entwined in a beautiful love story.

Little did they know that fate would one day test their love, leaving their child to face the challenges of growing up in this world.

Her eyes wandered to a photo frame, where a cherished picture caught her attention. The snapshot showed all four of them - she, her parents, and her grandma, Grace - standing together, beaming with happiness. Her mother, radiant with joy, held a two-year-old child in her arms. Thea was dressed in an adorable pink dress, her innocent face lighting up the frame. Her hair was tied in two tiny ponytails, with a few loose strands framing her face, adding to her irresistible charm.

The photo frame was made of elegant silver, with intricate patterns etched into its borders. It seemed to glow with a soft, warm light, as if infused with the love and happiness of the moment captured within. Her fingers traced the edges of the frame, feeling a deep connection to the memories it held.

This photo held a treasure trove of memories and emotions for Thea. She remembered the day it was taken, the laughter, the love, and the warmth that filled the air. As she gazed at the picture, she felt a deep sense of longing and nostalgia, wishing she could turn back time and relive those precious moments with her parents.

The last day of the University before summer break had finally arrived. Thea and Charlotte walked through the corridor, chatting, after their final lecture ended.

"I’m going back to Canada tomorrow." Charlotte sighed, informing her friend.

"Didn’t you say you were supposed to go next Friday? Why sudden change in your plan?"

"This is all Grandma’s fault." Charlotte replied. "I told her repeatedly not to mention my summer vacation starting date to my father, but she went ahead and told him anyway. Now he is adamant that I should visit him tomorrow.."

"Oo. .I think Uncle and Aunty are just sad because you haven’t visited them in for a while, so they can’t wait to see you on your summer break."
