Chapter 44: It Makes Me Happy

Thea chuckled, a hint of teasing in her voice. "If your beloved hears this, he will get sad with you."

Charlotte’s smile never wavered. "I am stating a true fact."She continued, "Do you have any plans this weekend?"

Thea’s face lit up with a smile. "Yes, Ryder’s friend Savannah invited me today to attend her birthday party this weekend."

"Oh, that’s great! Then you have to buy a dress. Let’s go shopping!"

Thea’s voice was a low murmur, but Charlotte’s ears picked up on her words. "Ryder’s grandparents’ anniversary is also coming up."

"Let’s go!" Charlotte insisted, already heading towards the exit.

They walked into the elegant store, Opulence, and were immediately greeted by a kind sales lady, who smiled warmly. "Welcome, misses! How may I assist you today?"

"Show us a gown for her." Charlotte said, gesturing elegantly towards Thea.

The sales lady nodded graciously. "Right this way, please.." she said, her voice warm and inviting. She led them to the couture section, where a breathtaking collection of evening gowns hung elegantly on velvet racks, shimmering under the soft glow of crystal chandeliers.

Thea wandered through the elegant display, her gaze drifting over the intricate details and delicate fabrics. "These gowns are absolutely breathtaking!"

"I knew you’d love them! Try this one on." Charlotte suggested, holding up an exquisite, floor-length gown in a soft, shimmering blue.

Thea’s eyes lit up. "It’s gorgeous!" She took the dress from Charlotte and headed towards the fitting room.

Thea emerged from the fitting room, and Charlotte’s gaze lifted from her phone, her eyes widening in awe. She froze, her thumbs hovering over the screen, transfixed by the breathtaking sight of Thea resplendent in the shimmering blue gown.

"Thea you look stunning!" she exclaimed. "The dress is made for you!"

The sales lady beamed with approval. "You look absolutely breathtaking, Miss in this outfit.." she gushed. "The way that gown drapes across your shoulders, the way the shimmering blue catches the light... it’s nothing short of stunning."

Thea blushed, feeling like a princess in the elegant gown. "I like this outfit.."

Charlotte grinned, satisfied with the successful shopping trip. "We’ll take it!" she declared, smiling at the sales lady.

The gown looked stunning on her body. As she stood in front of the mirror, she gazed at the dress, admiring its beauty. Charlotte made one round around her to see her from every angle. "You need some jewelry to complement the dress." she replied while placing her hand on her chin as she thought about the perfect accessories.

After Thea was done paying for her dress, Charlotte took her to a jewelry shop. "Have you thought about what gift you’ll give to Mr Thompson’s friend?"

Thea hesitated, unsure. Charlotte jumped in with a suggestion, "How about a bracelet? It’s a thoughtful gift that’s both personal and stylish."

"Hmm, a bracelet would be a good choice." Thea nodded her head in agreement, acknowledging Charlotte’s idea. As the two friends entered the jewelry section, Charlotte began searching for a jewelry set that would complement Thea’s gown. "Thea ,see this set. Is it good?" Charlotte asked, tapping lightly on Thea’s shoulder.

Charlotte turned to the sales lady and asked, "Miss, can you please show us this set?" The sales lady retrieved the set, the collection included a pair of earrings adorned with graduated, shimmering diamonds, accompanied by a exquisite diamond necklace.

Charlotte delicately lifted the necklace and secured it around Thea’s neck. "Try it on...See how it looks.." she encouraged. Thea turned to face the mirror, and Charlotte adjusted the clasp. As they stepped back to admire the reflection, the necklace shimmered against Thea’s skin, its diamonds casting a luxurious glow that perfectly complemented her features.

Thea was immediately drawn to the design, realizing it would complement the dress she had purchased earlier perfectly. She made her decision. "I’ll take this necklace set"

She then went to browse the bracelets as a gift for Savannah. The sales lady showed her the latest designs, and she chose the one she liked .she turned to look for Charlotte and realized that her friend was no longer beside her. Instead, Charlotte was standing in front of the earrings section, intently observing the various designs.

From the way Charlotte was gazing at the earrings, she could tell she liked it.."Miss, please pack those pair of earrings too...the second one in the first row.." Thea politely requested the saleswoman, who smiled back in response.

"I have chosen the bracelet..Let’s go and pay the bill." Thea approached Charlotte. "Have you chosen the gift?" Charlotte asked, turning to Thea "Yes, it’s done.."

At the payment counter, the saleswoman rang up their purchases.. Thea paid the amount, and they left the store with their beautiful jewelry and that lovely gift for Savannah.

The bracelet she had chosen as a gift for Savannah was a beautiful, delicate chain adorned with a small, sparkling crystal charm. The chain was made of sterling silver, with a subtle shine that caught the light. The crystal charm was a pale blue color, with intricate facets that refracted the light and gave it a sense of depth. The bracelet was dainty and elegant, perfect for dressing up or adding a touch of sophistication to a casual outfit.

For the first time in her life, Thea had indulged in such extravagant spending, and it felt exhilarating! As they sat in the car, she took out a small packet from the jewelry shop.

"Open it, Charlotte." Thea said after handing her the packet. Charlotte’s eyes got puzzled. "What is it?"

When she looked inside the packet she found a blue velvet box. She took out the box and opened it gently.

With a soft gasp, Charlotte’s eyes widened in astonishment. "How did you know I’ve been eyeing these earrings?" she asked, her voice filled with a gentle mix of surprise, curiosity, and sincere appreciation.

"You don’t have to know about it.What matters is that you like it, and that it makes me happy." Charlotte’s face lit up with joy as she hugged her tightly. "Thank you, Thea..I am so happy..." Charlotte said, her voice choked with emotion. In her life, no one had ever gifted her anything besides her family members, and this gift from her bestfriend touched her heart deeply.

"The things you bought today, you will wear them on Mr. Thompson’s grandparents’ anniversary."

"Excuse me?So you have that plan in your mind all this time?"
