Chapter 992: Chapter 989: Wish Power +6, The Drop Rate Is Just Too High
"You... aren’t pulling my leg, are you? There’s actually a belief in the Fox Immortal culture here in the Imperial Capital?"
Ah Qing looked both skeptical and intrigued, cuddling the little fox back to the apartment. From her backpack, she took out wet wipes to clean the hygiene-loving Huhu’s paws.
"Why would I lie to you?"
Ansheng waved dismissively, pulling out ice cream from his bag to hand out generously to Momo and Uncle.
"I’ve done my field research, but then I thought about the winter here in the Imperial Capital, and hurriedly headed south."
Ansheng was full of nonsense, the research was all fake, but it’s true that in the Imperial Capital, there’s a culture and temple belief in the Fox Immortal.
Some Ansheng saw online, others came from past experiences during business trips.
The Imperial Capital has fox spiritual mediums; Ansheng encountered them on a business trip in his past life. Whether they’re accurate is questionable, though his colleague did lose five thousand bucks.
"The little fox didn’t lie, the Imperial Capital is indeed, you could say, the fox’s domain...."
Uncle smiled, receiving the ice cream, and said to Ah Qing: "Firstly, the broadest belief is the ’Four Great Gates,’ commonly known as Immortal Hu, White Immortal, Immortal Huang, and Willow Immortal...."
"Among the Four Great Gates, the Hu Gate holds the highest position."
"Moreover, the southeast corner of the inner city is famous overseas due to a Fox Immortal residence. Legend has it that the former chief Fox Immortal, the Fox Manager lived there, managing all foxes within and outside the Imperial Capital."
"Also, the Old Fox Immortal resides at the Temple of Heaven, and there are legends of the Fox Immortal refining elixirs at the Imperial Capital University, along with rumors of foxes attaining immortality—all tied to the belief in the Fox Immortal...."
Uncle has lived in the Imperial Capital for over a decade, despite how busy he is with work, he’s already toured the attractions within and outside the city countless times with colleagues, plus there’s the annual Great Wall climbing event organized by his unit.
Some folklore and attractions, Uncle could easily introduce to Ah Qing and the others.
There are landmarks related to the Fox Immortal; there are four or five recognized ones in the Imperial Capital, officially acknowledged. Those not officially recognized are countless—a themed nightclub even exists.
However.
Regarding nightclubs, Uncle chose not to elaborate, as Ah Qing and the others likely wouldn’t visit such places.
"Family empire +1+1+1...."
"The cute little fox eventually becomes king."
Momo was full of laughter, listening to Uncle’s tales, and teased the little fox who proudly lifted its head.
In the north, foxes are worshiped; in the south, ghosts. In Momo’s hometown, there’s no belief in the Fox Immortal like in the Xia Dong Region, where foxes are revered as deities.
But that didn’t prevent Momo from thoroughly enjoying the stories.
Uncle spoke, and the little fox’s status in the family quickly rose.
"...." Ah Qing looked peculiar, unable to distinguish at the moment whether the Xia East People could compete and triumph over the locals of the capital in terms of superstitions.
People promised not to engage in superstitions, to believe in science, yet everyone craved the fox’s body.
"Since your status is so high here, how did you end up in Xia Dong?" Ah Qing asked, somewhat surprised.
"Because foxes are carnivorous! I’m not a little bee in a patch of flowers...." Ansheng quipped without thinking.
"In spring and summer, the poplar fluff and pollen flutter all around here, indiscriminately assaulting everyone’s noses. I, Ansheng, can’t wear a mask; running was my only option."
"6....."
Listening to the little fox’s rant, everyone in the room face-palmed a ’6.’
Indeed, when it comes to enjoying life, one must look at the little fox’s choices.
"Should I ’buzz’ twice now?" Uncle playfully pointed at his cheeks, asking if he should cosplay a little bee for the occasion.
"No need for that, Uncle. Wait until autumn, the ninth month, Ah Qing’s dorm bees will go buzz, buzz...." Ansheng confidently looked at Uncle and jested.
"Is it really that bad...." Ah Qing listened, remaining skeptical; she couldn’t believe the poplar fluff and pollen posed such a problem.
How could one say people are dealt heavy blows by pollen?
...
Sitting in Uncle’s apartment until almost ten-thirty, Uncle took the initiative to escort Ah Qing and the others back to the dorm.
Winter in the Imperial Capital is harsh, not only do some shops close early, but frozen roads are also dangerous.
"The ancestors of mankind return to the world, witness Master Fuli subdue all evil, this is mankind’s flourishing era. Amidst the awe, there’s a desire to contribute a little, to welcome back the hero of humanity."
"Wish Power +6"
"Xiaolan..... it really doesn’t hurt?" Ah Qing asked somewhat cautiously:
"Or did you encounter something dirty outside?"
Back at the reception hotel, Ah Qing prepared to bathe Huhu and then snuggle up in bed according to the usual routine.
However, for some unknown reason today, when preparing to bathe, the little fox brought out a hard brush, specifically instructing Ah Qing to scrub its back vigorously.
"What could I have encountered that’s dirty?" Ansheng glanced at the wish list, clearly completed wishes, his heart revealing a pleased smile.
Sun Xingyao, indeed worthy as Dragon Sister, produced more Wish Power with her wish compared to others.
Ansheng sent Sun Xingyao to the hospital, tormenting her until she was filled with grievances, and she made a wish.
She talked of using a toilet plunger for revenge against whoever orchestrated sending her for a free medical examination.
Ansheng, following the wish, went ahead and fulfilled it, enlisting Ah Qing to complete the wish.
"Didn’t encounter anything dirty, have your tastes changed?" Ah Qing asked, puzzled.
Previously, when Huhu took a bath, it loved having a bath ball swirl around its belly, never mentioned using a brush.
"Just feels like my fur is too long, a bit tangled, using a brush to smooth it out."
Ansheng explained and curiously asked, "So, what’s our plan tomorrow? Climbing the Great Wall?"
"Tomorrow, huh? We’re going skiing tomorrow! Climbing the Great Wall might have to wait until next year."
"Momo is heading home the day after tomorrow, apparently because an elder’s ex-wife is about to cause a scene." Ah Qing replied with a smile, discussing the itinerary with the curious little fox.
"Oh? Ex-wife turned successful flaunter throws shade?" Ansheng inquired with interest.
"No, it’s a family clash. It seems the woman’s side is coming with the entire clan. Seems like Momo’s distant relative is critically ill and now hospitalized in the ICU..." Ah Qing, recalling gossip, told Huhu.
Ah Qing wasn’t clear on the entire situation, but at Uncle’s house, she vaguely heard Momo’s phone mention outsiders shouldn’t divide family property.
Apparently, Momo’s elder’s ex-wife changed the child’s name after divorce, refusing to acknowledge the man’s family.
Yet the elder on the man’s side is critically ill and might not survive this, so the woman caught word and brought the child to cause trouble.
Both the man’s and woman’s families backed by clans, there’s unlikely to be a physical fight, but both clan sides need to partake in verbal battles and outrage against the opposite side’s matriarch.
If the woman doesn’t revert the child’s name, it’s reasonable from legal and genetic perspectives to claim assets.
But once the name’s changed, reason disappears.
Thus, Momo has to head home too, to support the elders as the woman’s clan explodes.
Though Momo’s generation isn’t high, her family’s standing is highly esteemed, making her absence impossible.
"Oh..... so it’s about inheritance distribution." Ansheng nodded lightly, expressing understanding, and tapped Ah Qing’s shoulder, saying:
"Should we go watch the spectacle? I’ve got a private jet ready for a straight flight to Lingnan."
"Ah this..... doesn’t sound too good? I’m afraid of getting caught up..."
