Chapter 2638: Chapter 1248: Countdown to School Opening
August 15, 2049 AD, was an exceptionally fulfilling day for many people.
On this day, at the invitation of Foster Ward, who was considered ’one of the family’ to some degree by the captain of the Academy City Law Enforcement Team and the Red Heart K from the Clown Brand, the trainee member of the Holy Church Union, Black Vatican Priest, inexplicably accepted a task to participate as an invited player in the Warfire League. It’s said to be quite a grand event, focusing mainly on battle simulation, and is widely watched much like the Comprehensive Knight Combat Tournament.
Then, the Woof Woof Team, visiting their good friend Anthony Dubs at Isaac Comprehensive College, caused some trouble. Although it was soon resolved by a teacher, who was once thought to be Dubs’ lifelong rival but, according to Ji Xiaoge, not much like a rival in love, the appointed leader of the Woof Woof Team, Mor, still agreed to a friendly match with a friend due to this favor, giving the students a good show.
After that, Teacher Tian, whose real name is Tian Xingdao but uses the game ID "Heavenly Dao," logged into the public space. There, he met with Cholera, the chief pharmacist under the Tan Mo group, part of a non-mainstream club in City B, chatted briefly, and then went to a fight.
In the first match, Teacher Tian gave a thorough beating to a random common player, the Big-flower Morning Glory, and subjected them to several rounds of extreme cringe remarks, which led the latter to shut down and, unusually, log off to sleep without playing until the routine server shutdown.
In the second match, Teacher Tian encountered Origami, the Shikigami of the not-so-anonymous Great Yin-Yang Master Gu Xiaole. After a difficult victory, he was informed by Cholera that the real person had been idling in the distance, leaving Tian demoralized.
In the subsequent third match, Teacher Tian dramatically matched against Cordova, who was spending time in the public space with his good friend Mor. The battle began five seconds after they met and ended in the sixth second. It was a clear case of karma as not long ago, Teacher Tian left Big-flower Morning Glory in distress and now found himself similarly distressed, logging off to sleep as well without playing until the routine closing time.
Soon after, Mor, using the alias ’Andersen,’ also began indiscriminate matchmaking and ran into the highly ranked, well-known professional player on the Personal Combat Power Rankings, known for their English skill, the Awakening Dragon player.
Then he was taken down by the Awakening Dragon, quite decisively.
Although Motan himself was quite relaxed about it, Cordova, who was spectating, was very upset, so he challenged the Awakening Dragon and very delightfully took them down.

The defeated Awakening Dragon also felt a bit down, so unusually didn’t play until the routine server shutdown and took a break offline, later drinking a few glasses with a colleague and friend, only to be knocked over by cocktails much weaker than a box of liquor chocolates combined.
After that, Gu Xiaole, who intended to fulfill a wish for a dead soul, almost got his Shikigami killed and, realizing something was amiss, felt a bit dispirited and unusually logged off to perform a ritual, which then caused a commotion that shocked Yi Dong’s parents.
By evening, Motan, now cloaked in the alias ’Frank Hughes,’ teamed up with Double Leaf to tackle a dungeon in the comprehensive library of Academy City, spending several hours on it.
In summary, for many people, the day was excessively fulfilling.
However, except for a few professional players, no one would complain about playing games too long. Quite the opposite, many like Motan feel that twelve hours a day simply isn’t enough.
Correspondingly, the remaining time from 7 AM to 7 PM seems particularly... idle.
...
"Actually, it won’t be idle for long."
The phone screen showed Yi Dong yawning lazily, giving a sly grin to Motan, who had just climbed out of the game cabin like him: "Don’t forget, we start school in half a month."

Currently in ’Absolute Neutrality’ mode, Motan sighed deeply, half-dead, and said, "Are you crazy? Why bring up something so terrifying..."
"It’s just to prepare your mind."
Yi Dong mischievously glanced at Motan with a sly wink: "If nothing goes wrong, you won’t be able to bluff your way through like you did in freshman year."
"Ahhhhhhhh——"
Motan let out a groundhog-style scream and, in despair, slammed his head against the game cabin cover: "I don’t want to go to school!!!"
Yi Dong squinted at Motan, giving a fake smile, and asked, "How old are you this year?"
"Age has nothing to do with it, I just don’t want to go to school."
Stopping his tantrum, Motan rolled his eyes and dejectedly scratched his head: "I barely managed to get the school to agree that as long as I score above average on every exam..."
"Oh yeah, that privilege got revoked."
Yi Dong laughed nastily, and with an air of glee, said: "That vice principal you bribed won the lottery over the summer and called up the board that very day to resign."
