Chapter 242: She Wasn’t Sure If This Was A Good Thing
Everything went very smoothly.
On the way back, Christopher suggested bringing back Nino. Since she had promised him before, she agreed.
The two of them went to the lakeside apartment together.
They hadn’t seen Nino for a few days, and she had gained quite a bit of weight.
Sam took it out of the house and said, "Nino has a good appetite these days. She has gained weight."
Janice could tell as well because Nino’s cheeks had puffed out.
She said, "Thank you for taking care of Nino so well."
"You don’t have to thank me. These days, Robbie is not here. I am happy that Nino can be with me."
They looked at each other and smiled.
"By the way, you are pregnant now. Is it really okay to bring Nino back?"
Janice responded, "I’ve asked the doctor. Pregnant women can raise pets as long as they’re healthy."

As Sam spoke, she handed Nino over. Janice was about to hold her when Christopher took a step forward to grab her.
"You can’t hold a pet when you’re pregnant. Let me do it."
Before Janice could react, Christopher had already taken Nino over.
She was initially worried that he might have some overreactions. After all, she had learned the lesson from last time.

After saying goodbye, they went home with Nino.
In the villa, Nino’s kennel had been prepared for a long time. Christopher put her in the kennel and then fed her with some food.

After all, the doctor had said that maybe Nino could stimulate the part of memory he
lost.

Janice blinked, then came back to her senses. "Nothing. I just feel that with Nino, our family seems to have returned to how it was before." As she spoke, she let out a happy smile.

Christopher chuckled, then reached out and put his hand on her lower abdomen. He stroked it gently and said, "Here."
Janice suddenly understood and said with a smile, "Yes, it’s different. We have a baby now."
Christopher held her in his arms and smiled gently.
In the evening, Rob called and said that he had arrived at Joey’s destination, a very remote mountain village.
Surrounded by mountains, it was quite impoverished.
Christopher told him to be careful and not to alert Joey.
Rob answered and hung up the phone. Then he saw Joey, who was walking in front of him with a child in one hand and a luggage in the other, walking on the mountain road with difficulty.

When Joey brought Anna home, it was already past seven o’clock in the evening.

Joey held her in his arms and stood outside the house. He looked at the shabby wooden house in front of him and couldn’t help but think of the scene when he came here with his father to pick up Sophie ten years ago.

He glanced at Anna who was sleeping on his shoulder, then collected his thoughts and walked in.

Frowning, he found a wooden recliner and wiped it with a cloth, then put Anna down.
After putting down Anna, he took out his mobile phone to call Sophie. Thinking that he had not contacted her for a whole day, she had to be so anxious right now.
However, all he heard was the busy tone. No one picked up.
"Where is Sophie?"
Then he called a few more times, but the result was the same.

Then he put his phone away. However, he thought of Janice who asked him to send her a message.
He paused, typed a few words, hesitated for a moment, and sent it over.

Janice had just finished showering and was wiping her wet hair when her phone rang. She picked it up and saw that it was from Joey.
She clicked on it. "I’ve arrived. Good night."
She put down her phone, and could not help but be curious about where exactly he
had taken Anna.
"Why don’t you dry it?"
Christopher walked over, took the towel from her hand, and dried her hair.
Janice put down her hand and asked in confusion, "Where do you think Joey and the child are now?"
Hearing her question, Christopher paused for a moment and said, "Rob told me that it’s a very remote village."
"Village? Is that his hometown?" Janice asked.
He shook his head. "I’m not sure. Joey grew up in the Batemans and I’ve never heard him mention it."
Janice nodded, then thought of something and asked, "Can you tell me what kind of person he is?"
Hearing this, Christopher stopped wiping his hair and looked over. "Why are you suddenly so interested in him?"
Janice continued, "It’s not all of sudden. When I heard you talking about what happened three years ago, I thought that he was an irresponsible person. But when I saw how he took care of that child, I saw a different side of him. So I want to know what sort of person he is."
Christopher remained silent.
When Janice saw that he wasn’t speaking, she thought that she hurt his feelings and immediately continued, "I’m just asking. If you don’t want to tell me, then forget I asked."

As soon as she finished speaking, Christopher said, "Except for that matter, Joey is a good person."
As he spoke, he took out a hairdryer and blew her hair.
Although he said briefly, Janice could tell that Christopher still cared about Joey.

That evening, Janice called Rob.
"Rob, where are you now? Can you send me an address?"
Rob paused for a moment before replying, "Okay."
Not long after, she received an address from Rob.
However, she was surprised when she saw the location information.
She would never have thought that Joey would bring Anna to that place.
It was a place she had been to more than once. When she was at the TV station, there was a series of reports of primary schools in mountains every autumn before the beginning of school.
Due to the harsh living conditions in the village, it was regarded as a hard job. Few people were willing to do it, so she had been assigned the task for three years.
She thought for a while and realized now was about the time for this report in this year.
Thinking of that, she immediately called Lucy.
The call was quickly picked up.
"Janice."
There was some noise from Lucy’s side, and she seemed to be outside.
Janice paused for a while and asked, "Hey, Lucy, is it convenient for you now? I have something to ask you."
Lucy said, "Go ahead."
Janice asked, "Do you remember the series of reports from our TV station when the new semester starts every year?"
Lucy nodded. "I know."
Janice asked, "Then who’s going this year?"
"Since you’re not here, it’s my turn," Lucy said gloomily.
Janice guessed correctly and asked, "When will you go?"
"We’ll set off tomorrow."
Janice was surprised and thought, "Tomorrow? That is quite a rush."
"Can I go with you?"
Lucy answered, "Of course, but you’re pregnant and the living conditions there are not good. Is it convenient?"
"It doesn’t matter. I’ll be careful."
Hearing her words, Lucy nodded.
"All right then."
After ending the call, Janice hurriedly told Christopher about it.
"No, how can you go to a place like that when you are pregnant? Besides, you don’t work there anymore."
Janice knew that he would object and she had already prepared an excuse.
"I did go to the magazine office, but I visit the school there every year. It’s Lucy’s first time visiting there this year, so she doesn’t have any experience. I’ll go over and help. If you’re worried, I’ll call Yvonne along. She’s a doctor, so you can rest assured, right?"
