Chapter 214: Get Rid Of It
"Did Mr. Bateman eat all the food? Did he say anything about it? Was he satisfied?"
"What are you talking about? What the hell did you do? He didn’t even bother."
Sophie was still angry. When she heard what he said, she threw the lunchbox into Finn’s arms and furiously walked towards the car.
Finn, on the other hand, glanced at the lunchbox in his arms. It was still weighty, which means no one had eaten anything from it and thought, ’Did Chris not eat any of it? How is that possible?’ He was surprised to discover that, and then he hurriedly followed her.
"Sophie, don’t be mad. I’ll plead with Mr. Bateman in a few days. Maybe he will allow me to stay, for old time’s sake since we once grew up together."
Along the way, Finn comforted Sophie as he drove. Sophie didn’t even want to look at him.
Finn stopped talking, and focused at the intersection ahead and said, "Sophie, do you want to go back to the pet center, or..."
"Take me home."
She said grumpily. He nodded and did not say another word. Not long after, the car parked in front of a luxurious apartment block.
"Wait here."
"Okay."
Finn did not say anything else. All he did was wait. Not long after, Sophie came out with a white dog in her hand.
"Get rid of it."
He glanced at the dog in her hands and frowned. "Sophie, it looks quite cute. You love dogs the most, don’t you?"
Sophie thought to herself: What’s so cute? Shedding all over the place! So annoying!
Not only that, but it had been wailing at home every day since it was brought back to her apartment. It was no longer the Nino it used to be. Moreover, she had originally brought Nino back to hurt Janice. But she didn’t expect that not only did she not succeed in using it against her, it also wasted a lot of her time and effort. The more she thought about it, the more furious she became.
"If I tell you to get rid of it, then just get rid of it. What’s with all this nonsense?"
As she spoke, she handed the dog leash to him and instructed, "Remember to get rid of it and make sure that it is immaculately done. Don’t let me ever see it again."
After saying this, she left.
He glanced at the cute dog on the ground and instantly felt guilty getting rid of it. In
the end, he couldn’t afford to hurt Nino so he took it home. Such an innocent pup.
"Anna, look what I brought back."
Finn said the moment he entered the room.
Anna, who was wearing a princess’s dress, rushed over happily when she saw the snow-white Nino.
"Puppy."
When he saw her rushing over, he hurriedly stopped her.
"Anna, hang on. Don’t get too close. Shall we keep it as your companion?"
"Okay."
"You are such a good girl."
He reached out to stroke her hair, and a let a charming smile.
After returning, Janice called Lucy. Since she couldn’t find Rob for the time being, she could only ask the police for answers. Because of that, they agreed to meet up.
"Janice, you look much better than a few days ago."
When Lucy saw that Janice’s complexion had improved, she was comforted.
Janice rubbed her cheek shyly. "Is that so? I didn’t even notice it even when I look at it every day."
"Of course, you haven’t seen yourself before." Lucy wanted to forget how bad it was.
Knowing what she meant, Janice continued, "Speaking of which, I have to thank you. If it wasn’t for you, I’m afraid that I still wouldn’t be able to meet my husband."
"What are you talking about? It’s nothing."
"Oh, by the way, did Chief Gray and the others blame you after that?"
Janice had always been worried about this. After all, Nathan was not someone to be trifled with. You can get pass everyone but not him.
...
Lucy said, "It’s fine. Everyone is aware of the. Difficulties you’re facing. They can’t wait to help."
"That’s good. When we have the time, I would like to thank everyone for their help."
"By the way, you said you wanted to know the details that the police shared. Do you have a suspect?" Lucy enquired.
Janice shook her head. "Not yet, but I still want to know the details."
Hearing this, Lucy understood and said, "I’ve already supplied you all the information of my interview with the police station."
As she spoke, Lucy placed a folder in front of her.
Janice stared at the folder, feeling overwhelmed.
"Thank you."
She said from the bottom of her heart.
After parting ways with Lucy, she returned to the mansion. She wanted to study the interview materials that Lucy had gave her carefully and thoroughly. Halfway through her reading in the study, Christopher came back. Seeing that the villa was very quiet, he got worried and searched around. Then, he found Janice in the study.
"What are you looking at?"
He walked in.
She was lost in her reading and only then did she realize that Christopher was back, so she quickly put away the documents. She did not want him to see them.
"Nothing." She answered dishonestly.
He stared at her suspiciously and his brows furrowed. "Since it’s not a big deal, why are you so flustered?"
He turned around and walked away with some displeasure.
Hearing the unusual tone in his voice, she immediately went up to him. "You came back pretty early today."
"You don’t seem to want me to come back."
He complained as he tugged at the tie around his neck.
Janice was briefly stunned before replying, "Of course that’s not true."
He didn’t say anything, but for some reason, he couldn’t take off his tie, as if it was a dead knot.
She hurriedly said, "I’ll do it."
She stepped forward and reached out her hand to help him undo the tie. The two of them were so close that when she was undoing his tie, her forehead almost pressed against his lips. He could kiss her by just slightly leaning forwards. However, he didn’t, and he even held his breath and moved his gaze far away.
However, the movement of his Adam’s apple revealed his real state of mind. He couldn’t help thinking of how enticing and seductive she was, and how his body was aroused. However, she was unaware of this. She was just focusing closely and almost absent-mindedly on carefully untying his tie. Perhaps she had tied it in the wrong direction that morning before he left.
"All good."
She eventually undid it and heaved a sigh of relief. Just as she was about to step back, he quickly grabbed her hand before she could turn away.
She froze for a moment, then raised her eyes to look at him. His eyes were deep and emotionless.
"Didn’t you say that you’ll help me to bring back my memories every day? I want to remember some of it now."
He gulped and answered.
He leaned in very close, and the warm air of his breath tickled her cheeks. She felt her entire body warmed up and her face was flushed.
"You... how do you want to recall?"
She pursed her lips.
"You decide."
He stared at her as if he was hinting at something.
She was immensely charmed by these words.
Was she supposed to say anything?
There were many things that she wanted to do, but at present, there was only one thing she wanted to do the most.
"I want you to remember this."
As she spoke, she broke free from his grip, slowly hooked her arms around his neck, in the next second, stood on tiptoe, and kissed him on the lips.
After a short while, she stopped. However, he looked little unsatisfied.
"That’s all?"
His breathing was heavy.
She hadn’t expected him to say this, but she quickly understood what he meant. She immediately stood on tiptoe again. "There can be more."
She leaned over and resumed kissing and fondling him again.
...
However, this time, he didn’t let her leave. Instead, he reached out to hold the back of her head and kept on kissing, fondling and smooching her lovingly.
Sometimes, the brain might not be able to accept some facts as true, but the body was always honest and it could always react the fastest because emotions controlled it.
He had always been one who could abstain from desires. Very rarely would he be so aroused by a woman.
But she was an exception. She had made him lose his self-control time and time again.
He had thought that this might be the fundamental reason why he would have such super abnormal behaviors, although it didn’t seem all that important.
He kept on kissing her till they were both out of breath, his eyes filled with love.
"If this continues, I might not be able to stop." His eyes flickered with a burning radiance and inflammatory passion.
Her eyes flickered. "Then don’t stop. We are legally married couples."
Their lips touched again. This time, he took the initiative. He did not want to wait any longer. Waiting was a tough job and he was not a saint.
Just when their lips and tongues were interlocked in passion. Suddenly, she felt her stomach churn aggressively and uncontrollably. She pushed him aside and ran to the bathroom. Just as he was kissing her wildly, he was stunned by her push. It was not until he heard the sound of vomiting that he realized that she was kneeling in front of the toilet and throwing up furiously.
His countenance was changed in an instant.
Didn’t she say that she would help him recall his memories?
So why is she throwing up when he was kissing her?
His forehead throbbed uncontrollably. Despite his displeasure, he still walked forward to pat her on the back.
She was vomiting heavily. When she looked up and saw his slightly serious face, she remembered that they were just kissing. She was afraid that he would misunderstand, so she explained.
"Don’t get me wrong. I may have eaten something bad and have caught a bad stomach. No..."
"What? I still have that bit of confidence." He helped her to the sofa in the living room. "I’ll get you some water."
He went to the kitchen to get a glass of water and handed it to her.
"Have some water afterwards I will drive you to the hospital."
She took the glass and gulped a few mouthfuls, which made her feel much better. She said, "It’s okay. It’s late. Let’s go tomorrow."
Hearing her words, he did want not force her to say what she doesn’t. "Tell me when you feel uncomfortable."
She nodded, thinking about the good things that had just happened. He felt a little regretful, it was that close.
However, she didn’t have much strength and energy continue anymore. She was weak, tired and debilitated.
She leaned against the back of the sofa and soon fell asleep.
He didn’t wake her. He picked her up and carried her in his arms back to the bedroom upstairs. He put her down on the bed and covered her with the quilt, adjusted the temperature of the air conditioner to suit her body temperature, then left the room.
When he came downstairs, he remembered how sneaky she was when he entered the study. So he entered to the study without hesitation. He discovered lying surreptitiously was a stack of documents where she had hidden her things before. When he opened the folder and perused them, he found that it contained transcripts and data of an interview article of the case in which he was stabbed. Many places had been highlighted and underlined in red ink.
He stared at the marked areas and seemed to understand a little. It looked like he needed to investigate this carefully.
After taking a nap, Janice felt extremely much better the following day. She got up from the bed and was not surprised to see that she woke up in the bedroom. However, Christopher was nowhere to be seen early in that morning.
She went downstairs and smelled the aroma of the food. When she walked to the kitchen, she found him inside. Obviously, the fragrance was coming from his cooking. She stepped forward and glanced at the pot in front of him.
"What are you cooking?"
He turned around and said, "I’ve prepared you some porridge. After that, I’ll accompany you myself to the hospital."
