Chapter 2931 - The Power of the Way of the Sword Heart

The shore of Vast Cloud Lake.

The man in dark blue had a playful look on his face. “You cannot escape. The surrounding three thousand miles have already been sealed off!”

Su Yi turned to look at him. “Not long ago, that red bird landed to deliver a message. Was it the one who told you I was tailing you?”

The man in dark blue smiled approvingly. “Clever, clever. Tell me, then: who are you, and why are you following me?”

As he spoke, he drew nearer, one hand holding a snow-white flying sword aloft. The characteristic aura of a Heavenly monarch rumbled and boomed as his murderous intent locked firmly on Su Yi.

Heaven and earth trembled as the waters of Vast Cloud Lake churned. The air was full of dense murderous intent.

Su Yi had revealed his location, but he was still using a secret art to disguise himself.

When he saw the man in dark blue approach, he laughed. “By yourself, you’re no match for me.”

Several months ago, when he was still a Divine Wandering Realm cultivator in the Literati Continent, he’d have likely fared badly against a Heavenly Monarch.

But things were completely different now!

“Is that so? It seems you’re quite confident in your strength,” said the man in dark blue, looking Su Yi up and down. “Are you a Heavenly Monarch, too?”

Su Yi shook his head. “No.”

“A Heavenly Sovereign?”

“Definitely not.”

The man in dark blue couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re neither a Heavenly Monarch nor a Heavenly Sovereign. Does that mean you have cards up your sleeves sufficient to contend with a Heavenly Monarch?”

Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, he stopped one thousand feet away from Su Yi.

Boom!

His terrifying murderous intent contracted, then revolved like a whirlpool, covering the surrounding ten thousand feet of sky. The very air itself contorted and collapsed.

Anyone else would have been torn to shreds in an instant, but Su Yi just stood there as if his feet were rooted to the ground. No matter how the wind assailed him, he stood tall and unmoving.

Before that terrifyingly destructive murderous intent could draw close, an invisible power blocked it.

The man in dark blue narrowed his eyes.

Su Yi, meanwhile, took out a jug of wine and had a sip. “I have no need for hidden cards to kill you. I’ll give you an opportunity. Call for your allies, and I’ll send you on your way together.”

The man in dark blue laughed derisively.

Practically simultaneously, laughter emanated from afar. “Where’d this bastard come from? How dare he boast so shamelessly?”

“He’s more than just shameless. He’s absolutely brazen! He actually dared to tail Heavenly Monarch Xiu Hu of the Court of the Southern Heavens. I’ve never seen someone so eager to get themselves killed!”

A coarse voice rang out, and a man and woman approached from afar.

The man was gaunt and dressed in loose, billowy robes. He carried a fly whisk, and he wore a cloud-marked crown, just like the man Su Yi had followed here.

The woman wore wide-sleeved, colorful clothes, and her hair was tied up, revealing clear, beautiful features. She rode in a blue lotus.

Both were Heavenly Monarchs!

Had an experienced older-generation cultivator been here, they’d have recognized all of them at a glance.

The man in dark blue was called Heavenly Monarch Xiu Hu. The thin man with the fly whisk was called Heavenly Monarch Qiong Ye, and the woman in colorful clothes was called Heavenly Monarch Shui Ni.

All of them were from the Court of the Southern Heavens, and all of them were renowned throughout the Five Great Continents.

After all, when Heavenly Sovereigns weren't around, Heavenly Monarchs reigned supreme.

Moreover, these were the Heavenly Monarchs of a Heavenly Sovereign faction. They were naturally far from comparable to ordinary Heavenly Monarchs.

Now, Qiong Ye and Shui Ni appeared, helping Xiu Hu to surround Su Yi in a triangle formation. They’d sealed off all possible escape routes.

Su Yi held a jug of wine aloft and said, “Before we fight, might you explain how you discovered me?”

Heavenly Monarch Xiu Hu smiled faintly. “Kneel and beg, and I might well tell you.”

The other two smiled.

Su Yi raised an eyebrow, but said no more. He just pressed off the ground and charged.

His formerly withdrawn cultivation base coursed through him explosively, and the mysterious, inscrutable power of the Grand Dao billowed around his tall, upright figure.

“The Silent Realm?” All three Heavenly Monarchs were flabbergasted. Even if you’d hit them over the head, they would never have guessed that the person following them was such a weakling.

But then, Heavenly Monarch Xiu Hu, the one Su Yi was targeting, realized that something was amiss. His cultivation base really is in the Silent Realm, but his aura suggests that he’s far, far more powerful than any Silent Realm cultivator has a right to be!

When Su Yi charged, Heavenly Monarch Xiu Hu even sensed an impending lethal threat!

He bellowed without hesitation, and his flying sword whooshed forth.

His sword was called “Cold Blood.” It was his natal weapon, a top-notch Heavenly Monarch-level treasure. It could pierce through the blue dome of heaven and penetrate time and space.

When it flew forth, heaven and earth froze, and spacetime congealed. Everything was locked in place.

Heavenly Monarch Xiu Hu was extremely confident in this attack. Over the years, he’d used it to instantly freeze numerous powerful foes in place. Once frozen, a single tap was enough to shatter them into bloody chunks of ice.

It was a brutal yet stunning sight.

Heavenly Monarch Xiu Hu could already picture the charging young man frozen in place, and he was already preparing to shatter him into pieces.

But then, his expression shifted dramatically.

Cold Blood flew through the air, but his opponent wasn’t affected in the slightest. He just charged straight ahead, cleaving through frozen spacetime to shatter the entire landscape.

He even seized Cold Blood with ease, then twisted it like a piece of braided dough!

Crunch!

The flying sword shattered into pieces. Heavenly Monarch Xiu Hu instantly suffered a backlash and coughed up blood.

His expression shifted dramatically, and he tried to retreat, but it was too late.

A fair, jade-like fist full of dazzling fist force descended upon him. As it drew near, Xiu Hu felt a rending agony in his soul. Immediately afterward, it was as if his heart had been struck by lightning. In the end, even his fleshly body felt as if it had been cut open.

His cultivation, soul, heart, and body all suffered the terrifying impact. He panicked, eyes wide, and opened his mouth to shout.

Bang!!!

A muffled impact rang out as Heavenly Monarch Xiu Hu was blasted to bits, scattering chunks of blood.

His soul escaped from his body, only for a large, powerful hand to seize it, holding it aloft like a little chicken.

Fresh blood spattered the ground; its smell permeated the air.

That terrifying fist force was like a plow tearing through the soil, leaving a massive rift in its wake. Fragments of rock scattered, stirring up clouds of dust.

Off in the distance, Heavenly Monarchs Qiong Ye and Shui Ni stood frozen in place, their eyes wide and their bodies taut. Chills coursed down their spines, and their jaws almost fell off out of sheer shock.

He just destroyed a Heavenly Monarch’s body in a single punch!

And the most unbelievable part is, he’s only in the Silent Realm! He’s a full two realms below us!

As powerful as Qiong Ye and Shui Ni were, they couldn’t help but feel chills in their hands and feet. Their minds went numb.

How is this possible?

Su Yi stood there casually, his tall, upright frame bathed in the light of the heavens. He held Heavenly Monarch Xiu Hu’s soul aloft and said, “See? You couldn’t even take a single punch. What need do I have for hidden cards?”

Heavenly Monarch Xiu Hu’s soul quivered, terror written all over his face. Who is this guy? How could such an unreasonable Silent Realm cultivator exist in this world?

But before he could give the matter any further thought, Su Yi sealed his soul and tossed him into his sleeves. He planned to imprison Xiu Hu in the Book of Destiny and ask the Monarch of Endless Tribulations and the Buddha of Non-Existence to perform a soul search on his behalf.

That would be far less trouble than interrogating Xiu Hu himself.

“Do you two have anything you want to say to me?” Su Yi turned to look at Qiong Ye and Shui Ning.

Qiong Ye instantly turned and fled.

Boom!

Dazzling purple flames ignited all over his body. He’d obviously used some kind of evasive technique. In the blink of an eye, he’d vanished.

“Cut!” whispered Su Yi. Within his heart, his Heart Soul suddenly rose and summoned the Contented Heart Scepter.

It transformed into the Sword of Proximity, and his Heart Soul took it in hand, then swung it.

Thousands of miles away, Heavenly Monarch Qiong Ye suddenly let out a desperate cry. Tyrannical sword qi had cleaved into his heart out of nowhere!

The heart was the foundation of life. When it shattered, it was lethal, even for a Heavenly Monarch.

Heavenly Monarch Qiong Ye plummeted down to earth like a meteor, his life force flowing away as his body and soul turned to ash. When a strong wind blew past, even his ashes scattered.

Su Yi saw all of this, and he couldn’t help but sigh. The Way of the Sword Heart sure is tyrannical!

During the ten-plus years he’d spent in the “sea of scriptures” in Fangchun Mountain’s ancestral grounds, Su Yi’s greatest harvest was learning how to use the secret power of the heart in battle.

It was the legacies of the Zhukong Sword Sutra that he found the most enlightening.

This was Su Yi’s first time using his heart to control his Dao of the Sword, but he’d managed to kill a Heavenly Monarch in an instant!

The Contented Heart Scepter’s power stunned Su Yi, too. It was the fusion of all of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos, so it could manifest all of their powers.

When Su Yi killed Heavenly Monarch Qiong Ye, he used the Sword of Proximity’s power to disregard distance. No matter where his enemies fled, so long as he locked onto them, even the ends of the earth were close at hand!

Su Yi hadn’t anticipated that the Sword of Proximity’s divine abilities would display such unbelievable strength when unleashed via the Contended Heart Scepter.

It was like an invisible strike that directly targeted the heart. A single thought was enough to take his enemy’s life.

But after unleashing this strike, Su Yi sensed that he’d depleted a full thirty percent of his heart power!

In other words, at his current level of attainment, he could unleash this attack three times at most. Any more, and he’d severely deplete his heart. The consequences of that would be dire.

Better not to use it unless it’s life or death, thought Su Yi. He was now strong enough to kill Heavenly Monarchs. There was no need to whip out a killer weapon like the Way of the Sword Heart.

It’d be a complete waste.

“Qiong Ye is dead, too?” Off in the distance, Heavenly Monarch Shui Ni called out, her beautiful face bleak.

As a Heavenly Monarch, there was no way she’d fail to discover her ally’s death.

She was suddenly overcome with fear. She couldn’t even imagine how a Silent Realm cultivator could have done this.

“Why not run?” Su Yi asked with great interest.

Heavenly Monarch Shui Ni could have chosen to flee earlier, but for some reason, she’d chosen not to do so.
