Chapter 2930 - Whereabouts Revealed

The pair wasn’t at all eye-catching.

The old man wore gray clothes and short sandals, with a wooden pin holding his hair in place. He was thin and decrepit, with a sword bundled up in dull gray fabric on his back.

The young man was tall and powerfully built, with coppery skin, ordinary features, and worn-out clothing.

Their auras were unassuming, too. The old man looked like a Limit Realm Mid-Rank God, while the youth looked like a Creation Realm Lesser God.

Here in Roaring Dragon City, cultivators were as numerous as the clouds, but Eternals were still few and far between. The vast majority of the city’s inhabitants were immortals or those yet to achieve immortality. Gods and Master Gods were rare.

A Silent Realm Eternal like Su Yi was already a peak expert by the city’s standards.

The two people who’d caught Su Yi’s eye had a hint of a familiar aura.

After pondering briefly, he understood. The two of them were definitely from the Heart-Tempering Sword House!

Due to their different legacies and styles of cultivation, different cultivators inevitably wound up with their own distinctive auras.

But there was no denying that the pair of them had hidden their auras extraordinarily well. Ordinary people could never have sensed them.

Su Yi managed to do so thanks to his secret power of the heart.

Moreover, he’d already fused with Jiang Wuchen’s Dao Imprint. Jiang Wuchen was the founder of the Heart-Tempering Sword House. There was no way he’d fail to recognize his own sect’s disciples.

The old man was clearly on guard. When he sensed Su Yi’s gaze, he immediately looked over.

Su Yi smiled, then left.

The old man watched Su Yi disappear into the crowd before looking away. Then, he turned to the young man and transmitted, “Roaring Dragon City is a place where fish and dragons intermingle. Numerous experts have come here to explore the ruins of our sect. Going back under these circumstances would be most unwise!”

The young man in worn-out robes shook his head. “No matter what, I have to go back and have a look for myself!”

The old man furrowed his brow. “But what if our enemies discover you?”

The young man fell briefly silent. “If I die, I die! What’s there to be afraid of?”

The old man sighed, then made no further attempt to persuade him.

The young man clapped him on the shoulder. “Junior Apprentice Brother, rest assured. Given our strength, we’ll be fine so long as we’re careful.”

The old man laughed bitterly. “You needn’t comfort me, Senior Apprentice Brother. I, Fei Qiu, am no craven.”

“Then let’s go!” said the young man, leading the way. The old man followed immediately afterward.

The young man was called Wen Feng, and he was the Mountain Lord of Expanding Heavens Peak, a Heavenly Monarch of the Dao of the Sword!

He looked young, but here in the Divine Wandering Continent, he was a first-rate Heavenly Monarch.

The old man was called Fei Qiu. He was the Vice Mountain Lord of Expanding Heavens Peak. He, too, was a Heavenly Monarch, but his strength and reputation were a notch inferior to Mountain Lord Wen Feng’s.

The two of them left Roaring Dragon City, and soon, they’d faded over the horizon.

Meanwhile, fragmented divine light surged like rising, icy fog as a man appeared on the city walls. He wore dark blue robes and a cloud-marked crown. He was tall and thin, with cold, craggy features.

He gazed in the direction Wen Feng and Fei Qiu had vanished, a nigh-imperceptible hint of a grin tugging at his lips. I’ve been waiting for days, but I finally managed to snag a big fish!

The man in dark blue shook his sleeves, and a piece of snow-white jade appeared in his palm.

When he tightened his grip, the jade shattered. Translucent power of the Grand Dao silently spread outward.

The man then stretched out his fingers and gently tapped the top of his cloud-marked crown. He whispered to himself, “Oh, how the tables turn. Who could have imagined that the Heart-Tempering Sword House would fall overnight after countless years of glory?”

The man then took a step forward and flew out of the city.

But although he didn’t realize it, someone was following him: a young man in blue, transcendent and detached.

This was none other than Su Yi.

He made no effort to hide, and the man he was tailing was a Heavenly Monarch, yet he didn’t notice Su Yi at all.

This was because Su Yi was using a legacy from Fangchun Mountain that let him obscure his presence. It was called the Limitless Void Shadow. He was pairing it with the Unbounded Walker, a technique for rapid movement.

Strange. What’s someone from the Court of the Southern Heavens doing here? Su Yi furrowed his brow. He could determine the man in the dark robe’s origins by sensing his presence, but what he found left him bewildered.

The Divine Wandering Continent was one of the Five Great Continents. Limitless Palace, one of the nine Heavenly Sovereign factions, was based here.

Earlier, in Roaring Dragon City, Su Yi asked around and learned that Limitless Palace and other factions native to the Divine Wandering Continent had set their sights on the ruins of the Heart-Tempering Sword House. There was almost no room for experts of other continents to get involved.

Yet now, a Heavenly Monarch from the Court of the Southern Heavens was here, and he was obviously planning something. He’d set his sights on the two people Su Yi had seen earlier.

Something strange was afoot, and Su Yi wasn’t sure what to make of it. Don’t tell me that the destruction of the Heart-Tempering Sword House alerted the other Heavenly Sovereign factions? Are all of them here? Or is there something else going on? Something I don’t yet know about?

Far too little time had passed since his arrival in the Divine Wandering Continent, and everything he’d learned, he’d learned from Roaring Dragon City’s information peddlers. Most of their intelligence was unreliable, and what little intelligence was valuable wasn’t useful.

At this point, there were only two things that Su Yi knew for certain.

First, the destruction of the Heart-Tempering Sword House had caused an unprecedented uproar in the Eternal Heavens Domain. Of late, countless experts from all across the Eternal Heavens Domain had gathered here in response.

It was for this reason that the ruins of the Heart-Tempering Sword House were so lively. Every day, new people came to investigate.

Some wanted more information about the cause of their destruction, but most were just here in search of treasure!

After all, the Heart-Tempering Sword House was famed far and wide as the greatest Heavenly Monarch faction around, as well as a top-notch orthodoxy of the Dao of the Sword. It was ancient, with incomparably firm foundations.

Now, it had been destroyed, but its ruins remained. It was only natural that the world’s cultivators saw it as a land of opportunity.

When a whale died, the beasts of the ocean floor feasted. The Heart-Tempering Sword House’s territories, mineral and spirit veins, and subordinate factions were now ownerless. They’d naturally drawn the covetous eyes of other factions.

The ruins of the Heart-Tempering Sword House were now a gathering place for the world’s experts and the site of a fierce competition. That made them a dangerous place.

Second, Limitless Palace, the only Heavenly Sovereign faction in the Divine Wandering Continent, had declared all survivors of the Heart-Tempering Sword House wanted criminals!

They’d published a list covered in the names and portraits of prominent members of the Heart-Tempering Sword House.

Su Yi had already gotten his hands on a copy. After reading it, Su Yi confirmed something—when the Malevolent Sword Venerate destroyed the Heart-Tempering Sword House, few of its disciples died. All of its most important experts had left before the sect’s destruction.

Sect Leader Lu Ye, many of the elders, palace masters, pavilion masters, and mountain lords clearly still lived. Otherwise, their names wouldn’t be on Limitless Palace’s wanted list.

At the same time, seeing the list of names made Su Yi wonder if Limitless Palace had been involved in the Heart-Tempering Sword House’s destruction.

After all, if they hadn’t been involved in the destruction of the Heart-Tempering Sword House, why would they target the survivors?

After a few moments of thought, Su Yi suddenly gazed into the distance. There, he saw a divine bird covered in bright red plumage. It landed in front of the man in dark blue robes.

It had obviously come to deliver a message, but it was far away and transmitting its words directly, so Su Yi couldn’t eavesdrop.

After a little while, the bird took off and flew away, while the man in dark blue resumed his journey.

Su Yi followed. After a while, he realized that the man was changing direction. He was no longer headed toward the ruins of the Heart-Tempering Sword House.

Su Yi pondered briefly, then decided to follow him anyway. He wanted to see just what this Heavenly Monarch of the Court of the Southern Heavens was up to.

About ten minutes later, a massive lake came into view, its waters gleaming with light. There was no end to it in sight.

Vast Cloud Lake.

It was thirteen thousand miles away from the Heart-Tempering Sword House’s ancestral grounds, but it had originally been under its control. Its waters gave rise to an extraordinarily precious treasure known as Nineleaf Golden Reeds. It could be used to make medicine.

In the distant past, Jiang Wuchen frequently visited Vast Cloud Lake to calm his heart. When winter came, the lake froze over, but the swaying golden reeds jutted beyond the surface. When bathed in the orange light of the setting sun, they were an extraordinarily beautiful sight.

The people who lived here often spoke of the “sunlit reeds.” It was one of the most scenic spots around.

Su Yi now had these memories, so when he saw Vast Cloud Lake in the distance, he couldn’t help but feel as if he were returning to familiar ground.

When the man in dark blue reached the shore, he sat cross-legged, unmoving, as if waiting for something.

A long time passed, but his prey didn’t move a muscle. Su Yi couldn’t help but frown. He was starting to run out of patience.

Then, something occurred to him. He’d just realized a problem. Don’t tell me this guy sensed me following him and lured me here on purpose? If anything happens to those two members of the Heart-Tempering Sword House while I’m here, I won’t be able to help.

Su Yi’s gaze was increasingly dark. He gazed at the man meditating in the distance. His target looked perfectly calm and at ease; it seemed he didn’t notice the attention.

But Su Yi picked up on a detail he’d overlooked before. Every three to five breaths of time, the man would rub the tip of his cloud-marked crown.

It looked inadvertent, as if he were doing it out of habit. It didn’t seem particularly strange.

But Su Yi decided to test it.

He turned and left, but he’d only gotten thirty thousand feet away when a voice rang out.

“Hey, friend. You’ve followed me this far, so why leave now?” Over by the lake, the man in dark blue stood up.

Su Yi didn’t turn to look at him. He was calculating the time on his fingers. It’s only been a few breaths of time since I left, and he’s rubbing the top of his crown every three to five breaths. Is he perhaps using the crown’s power to sense my location?
