Chapter 438: Have fun.

Leilani.

"Seychelles as in SEY-CHELLES?" I stuttered in surprise.

He chuckled. "Yes."

I shook my head. "We are in Africa? From New York City?"

Again, he nodded, chuckling. "Yes."

But even after hearing it from him, I still didn’t believe it. I couldn’t. I mean, wasn’t it only an hour ago that I was in their kitchen, trying to help myself to a glass of water before losing myself to a panic attack?

Wasn’t I only in my night dress a while ago?

Speaking of my night dress... where the fuck is it? How the hell am I dressed in something different?!

"Who the hell changed my clothes?!"

At my very loud and very- disconnected- from- the- current- conversation outburst, Kael instantly lowered his head, but I didn’t miss the small smile that now played at the corners of his lips nor the way his eyes gleamed with delight seconds before he turned his face away from me.

I could swear that he was enjoying this a little too much. But that wasn’t all. He looked too relaxed and that almost set me off.

Almost...

Until I realized that I found his current demeanor too attractive to be pissed.

So I tried again. "What the hell is happening?"

"Can you calm down?"

"I will ’calm down’ as you have suggested when you tell me everything. When you explain to me why one minute I was in NYC, struggling to breathe in some silk night dress that I had gotten as a gift from Maya, and the next, I am here, clad in some shimmering, flowy, stupidly beautiful dress, and for some reason, you’re telling me that I am in Seychelles. Seychelles, Africa, which is like the very extreme end of my usual world!"

"You are overreacting." Kael drawled, and in that moment... heavens, I do not know if it was the fact that he’s just told me that I am overreacting or something else— something that has to do with his overly attractiveness— but I found myself on the verge of going berserk.

I snapped; "I am overreacting?!"

And as soon as I screamed that out loud, he frowned, smiled and then shook his head slowly. "No, you’re not."

"So tell me."

"What’s there to tell you besides the truth. Besides how you had a panic attack, and how Caelum was finally able to successfully calm you down after several hours of trying. But even after that, we realized that you had developed a fever and would not wake up. Darius, on the other hand, kept trying to reach out to know when you guys would ’meet’ and then Zevran decided that it is best we took you out of everything all together. That you needed some time off. And that’s what we did... we brought you here."

Something about his words made my lips clamp shut. It made some of the rage— which was not a lot to begin with— that I felt earlier, dissipate.

I looked up at him, feeling slightly remorseful and almost shameful, and then I whispered; "Oh, I didn’t know that... thank you."

"You were unconscious most of the time..." he drawled, seemingly un-offended. And I nodded.

However, he was just about to say something more when a thought suddenly struck my mind and before I could help myself, I blurted out the next question that popped into my head.

I snapped; "Who changed my clothes?"

At that, Kael chuckled. He couldn’t hide it this time as he laughed with his head lowered. It took him a moment before he was able to get his shit together and when he did, he shrugged in feigned nonchalance and snickered;

"One of the maids did it the first night when you had a panic attack. Caelum did the next day when your fever wouldn’t break. I did when we wanted to move you to the airport and Zevran did when we got here to change you out of the clothes you traveled in. Is that what you wanted to know?"

In other words: they all took care of me.

They all tried to help me...

They all saw my nakedness.

That last thought snuck into my mind like a thief in the night, making my already heated up face burn even hotter.

I lowered my head, unable to meet his gaze anymore and whispered; "Yes."

He stepped closer, crowding my personal space one more time. "Huh, what did you say?"

He was trying to get under my skin, I could feel it. Goddess, I should ignore him, but I couldn’t.

"I said yes, thank you." I replied in a voice still small, it could easily pass for a whisper.

A flicker of mischief rushed through Kael’s face as he stepped impossibly closer to me— so close that I could feel his warmth and the water on his skin. Heck, I could even perceive the salt from the water on his body and the heady scent that was always associated with him.

"I said yes, thank you, you pervert!"

And at that, he threw his head back and laughed.

Once again, the sound vibrated through my body but for some reason this time, it came to settle between my thighs... at my core.

My body pulsated at this feeling but clamping it down, I tried to side step him to return to the room where I had woken up only minutes ago. But because he was quick to catch that action, he pushed his weight in front of me, blocking my path and planted his hands on his waist as if saying; "You would have to pass through me."

I rolled my eyes. "Please, excuse me." I hissed, but for some reason, Mister— Alpha— Kael Stormborn had suddenly gone deaf.

He pretended not to hear or see me, and instead remained there like a kind of pest, as if with the intention to get under my skin.

His eyes roved my body with an intensity that made me want to shrink into myself, and after a moment of intense silence and awkwardness, he mused;

"No."

"Kael..."

"Come with me. The others are on the beach. You should come too."

But I didn’t want to go, not when I couldn’t trust myself with him.

"No."

"I promise you, it will be fun... in a rejuvenating way." He said,

Still, I shook my head. "I need to sleep."

"You’ve been sleeping for two days now. It’s high time you get some sunlight on your skin."

"But I got some when I woke up," I argued, remembering the room I had woken up in.

However, Kael didn’t give me a choice on the matter as he soon planted his hands on my shoulders and began to lead me out of the house.

I froze.

But not because he was semi-pushing me.

It was because of the array of sensations his skin on mine sent running through my body. It was the way my skin suddenly became hyper sensitive as soon as we touched,

—Amd I immediately knew that today will be a long day.
