Chapter 139: 139-I Am Not Too Proud Of Myself

Gigi:

I went home in tears.

The moment I stormed inside, I slammed the door once, then twice, then a third time, until a small crack appeared in the wood.

I kept pounding against it, sobbing uncontrollably.

None of this was right.

They weren’t supposed to treat me this way.

I hadn’t done anything wrong.

So why the fuck were they treating me like this?

Hearing my screaming and sobbing, I knew my mother would realize something had happened to me.

And she did.

The moment she heard my cries, she came running to our side.

She practically had to grab my arms and drag me inside because I refused to stop, and a crowd was beginning to gather outside.

Honestly, I didn’t care.

I couldn’t have cared less.

I was so angry that I was ready to jeopardize my reputation.

Then again, what reputation? It meant nothing if it wasn’t going to help me with Ragnar’s family.

"Bring some fucking water for her! Can’t you see she’s hyperventilating?" my mother screamed at the maid standing nearby.

I knew exactly what she was doing. They all loved gossip.

Every single maid, every servant, was so fucking jealous of me that they were always looking for something to talk about, hoping to hear any gossip they could laugh about later.

As soon as my mother shouted, the maid hurried away.

"Everybody just fucking leave!" my mother screamed again.

The others scattered immediately.

Now it was just me and my mother.

I began to cry, clenching my hands into fists and pounding them against my lap.

"Calm down, Gigi. What happened?" my mother asked, cupping my face in her hands and forcing me to look at her.

I shook my head, hiccuping so hard that I felt like I would never catch my breath.

"That old lady—" I tried to speak, but every word was broken by a desperate gasp for air.

I was hyperventilating.

"What happened? Did Ragnar’s grandmother say something to you?" my mother asked, trying to calm me by stroking my hair and rubbing my back.

"She’s so fucking me—a—n."

The last word cracked so badly that even I could barely understand myself.

Just then, the maid hurried over with a glass of water.

"Okay, you need to calm down first. Have some water, take a deep breath, and then tell me what happened, okay?" my mother urged, pressing the glass into my hand.

I looked up and noticed the maid stealing glances at me, as though she were mocking me.

"Do you think this is funny?" I asked.

She immediately stepped back.

"Huh? Do you think my misery is a joke?" I screamed.

Somehow, my anger kept growing, and it felt like the maid was the only person in front of me I could take it out on.

So why was I holding back?

I don’t know what came over me. I couldn’t control myself anymore.

The next thing I knew, I snatched the glass from my mother’s hand.

I got to my feet and, in one swift motion, smashed it against the maid’s head.

She cried out in pain and collapsed as blood began to seep from the wound.

Somehow, watching her in agony brought me a twisted sense of comfort, as though I had fixed my problems, even though hurting her was nothing compared to what I had been through.

At least now she wouldn’t fucking smile or smirk.

"Gigi, don’t do that," my mother growled, though her voice was soft and gentle as she watched me carefully, making sure I didn’t hurt the maids again.

"Take this fucking bitch out of my way. She’s staining my carpet!" I screamed, my face twisting in disgust.

Within the next few minutes, the warriors arrived.

The omegas followed, dragging the maid out along with the carpet so they could clean it before the bloodstain set.

After I had finally calmed down, my mother sat beside me again.

"Now tell me what’s happening," she said, handing me a glass of wine.

I took the glass and stared into it.

Too many thoughts were racing through my mind.

One of them was that Lady Lucille was going to ruin everything.

Because of her, the brothers were slipping out of my grasp.

It seemed as though she had come here with the sole purpose of destroying our lives.

That wasn’t even the worst part.

What terrified me most was seeing her show affection to anyone but me.

I understood why she preferred Jenna.

From what I could tell, Jenna had been taking care of her.

But why the fuck did she choose Verity over me?

Just because she had a voluptuous body?

What could Grandma Lucille possibly gain from that?

I looked at my mother and wondered what the right thing to say would be.

I started to measure my words. Every word that came out of my mouth would affect my future.

"Gigi, tell me what is wrong," she insisted again.

I slowly wiped away my tears, then turned my face to the side.

What I was about to do was very, very wrong, and I wasn’t proud of myself for it.

I took a deep breath before uttering, "Last night, Lady Lucille didn’t treat me right," I murmured, watching my mother’s eyebrows knit together.

"But Ragnar insisted that I stay fpr him, so I stayed over."

I paused, deliberately wiping the tears from my cheeks.

"So that’s a good thing, right? Why do you care about Lady Lucille? Ragnar is what really matters."

As she spoke, I slapped my forehead, forcing a dark expression onto my face.

"Then, when Ragnar was gone—" I paused.

I could tell she was growing anxious with every break I took.

"Jaguar and Theodore came into Ragnar’s bedroom while I was there."

That was all I said, and I watched my mother’s face grow noticeably paler.

Then I drew in a deep breath, covered my face with my hands, and began to cry.

"Gigi, what happened? Please tell me you didn’t make any mistakes."

As soon as my mother said that, I lowered my hands and looked at her.

"Mother, they raped me."

A cry escaped her lips before she clamped both hands over her mouth.
