Chapter 104: 104-Lied About Herself
Jaguar:
Nothing about it was normal.
First, Gigi told me that Verity had been with my brother for a while in the past, which made me question everything Verity had ever told me about herself.
She had claimed she had never had a boyfriend and had never had sex.
Now, all of that seemed like a lie.
I knew Oliver, and there was no way Verity and Oliver had not done anything.
So why the fuck would she lie to me?
Why the fuck did she try to portray herself as someone better than me by judging me for sleeping around and not being a virgin?
I remembered how bad she had made me feel.
And why the fuck did she lie about never having a boyfriend? I began questioning everything at that moment.
Things got even worse when her phone was found in Ragnar’s pocket.
What’s even more fucked up was that Gigi didn’t seem to think too deeply about it.
But Theodore and I kept exchanging glances.
I knew Theodore was only worried about Gigi’s heartbreak, whereas I was consumed by a different feeling.
Why would Ragnar ask for her phone? Why?
Why had she even left her phone with him? Where had they gone after leaving the backyard last night?
"Let’s have breakfast," Gigi cheered, happily walking toward the bedroom first.
I heard her call out to Ragnar from outside the bathroom.
"If you don’t mind, I’ll return the phone to Verity," she yelled to Ragnar.
I guessed he told her it was okay because she came out smiling, like a freaking fool.
I felt so bad for her. She didn’t deserve it.
When we sat down for breakfast, I couldn’t help but stare at Gigi, who was waiting for Ragnar to join us.
Theodore and I, on the other hand, were so fucking done with him that we had already started eating.
Gigi’s smile never faded.
"So, um... Gigi, when did Ragnar arrive last night?" I asked, pretending to be busy with my pancakes.
"Um, it was late at night, and... well, he was really lovey-dovey. You know, there was this urgency about him."
As soon as she said that, my fist tightened around my fork.
That was so unlike Ragnar, unless he had gotten horny somewhere else and then come to her to take his frustration out.
Or maybe he had started something with Verity and couldn’t go through with it because of the guilt.
Maybe he came to remind himself that he had a girlfriend he needed to stay faithful to.
"Oh," I replied, nodding.
"Oh, you know what?" Gigi exclaimed, snapping her fingers excitedly.
"I’m going to tell you something, but promise me you won’t laugh," she said, pouting.
I couldn’t help but give her a broken smile. I genuinely felt bad for her.
But I wanted to ask my brother what the fuck he was doing.
Sure, Verity had the body for it, but that didn’t mean he had to destroy the pure bond he shared with innocent Gigi.
"Tell us," Theodore urged gently.
He was even softer with her than usual because we all felt bad for her.
He was trying to comfort her by being overly sweet and attentive.
"I... I had a dream last night," she mumbled with a smile. "And, oh my God, it was such a sad dream. I’m only realizing that now."
Theodore and I exchanged a glance.
"Actually, it was early this morning." Like the fidgety person she was, Gigi pointed a finger into the air as she tried to remember. "So, anyway..." She slapped her forehead. She was always like this, fidgety, adorable, and completely all over the place.
I just didn’t understand how Ragnar could do this to someone like her.
"So, in my dream, I woke up to someone’s phone buzzing in Ragnar’s pants. I answered the call, and it was Verity."
The way she spoke made me almost spit out my drink.
"And you know what she said on the call?" she asked.
As soon as she asked us, Theodore and I exchanged a glance.
She probably didn’t realize it, but it hadn’t been a dream. It had really happened.
She had simply mistaken it for one.
"She said, ’Ragnar, when I was putting my bra back on, I left my phone in your pants,’ and all that."
She slapped her forehead.
"Oh my God. Now that I think about it, what a coincidence to have a dream like that."
She kept speaking as she reached for a waffle, while Theodore and I continued staring at each other.
"What happened afterward?" Theodore asked, not sharing our suspicions because we both had a very bad feeling about her dream.
"I fell asleep," she uttered, lost in thought. "Actually, I had quite a few drinks last night, so I’m not really sure. Anyway, why do we care? It was just a dream," she mumbled, reaching for some pineapple from the bowl.
I wasn’t feeling well. Every piece of information she gave us only made things worse.
It made me wonder if Ragnar had been with Verity and if something had happened between them.
Otherwise, why would she have been braless in front of him?
"You’re jealous," my wolf suddenly whispered inside my head.
I tried to keep my cool.
"You’re jealous because Ragnar probably drank from the same pair of beautiful breasts that you love to suck on from time to time."
The moment my wolf said that, something stirred inside me. Anger. Rage. Purpose.
I was going to find out what Verity was up to.
I was going to find out what had happened between her and Ragnar.
I wouldn’t let it go. Not when both my feelings and Gigi’s emotions were at the mercy of the truth.
By the time Ragnar came out for breakfast, Theodore and I had already decided to walk away.
That was our way of protesting his actions.
Once we were outside the mansion, we both stopped at once and stared at each other.
"Do you also think something happened?" Theodore asked.
I answered only with a stern look.
Then he spoke again. "I don’t think that’s fair to Gigi. I won’t allow anyone to hurt her, even if it’s our employee or our own brother."
Theodore’s words made me nod because that was exactly how I felt too.
