Chapter 91: 91. I did it for her
The healer looked left and right at The mention of Supreme Luna from the lips of her Alpha, as if that was not enough, the woman on the bed was a hybrid!
Kora looked at the dazed woman who should have been actively preparing to get the baby out and glared at her. "Where are the midwives and doctors?" Kora asked looking at Alpha Julio. "The healer won’t be enough and she seems useless, get a doctor here immediately, we are losing them," Kora ordered. She held Dana’s hand, and a blue light appeared on the hand which she held Dana with.
Dana’s breathing had started slowing down and picked up its pace again and they could hear a steady heartbeat. Lazarus who was holding Dana’s hand in them at the side looked at Kora giving out instructions and taking charge of the situation with pride. He was happy to have raised her. Glad that he did not ignore the force that pulled him to her that night eleven years ago. He could not imagine what would have befallen her if he had not shown up at the right moment and taken her away from there.
He could see longing in her eyes sometimes whenever she stared at the moon and though she always tried to hide whenever someone else was around he had seen it and knew that she missed he parents. He knew he could not fill the blank spot of her parents in her, but he had done what he could to make sure her childhood was not a sad one after what she had been through, and Dana had been but a loving supportive mother.
Thinking of Dana, Lazarus’ heart squeezed at the thought that if something wasn’t done quickly he would be losing her. "Get me the things needed for a cesarean, I will do it myself," Lazarus said and everyone looked at him.
"Alpha?" Ezra called, looking at him in surprise. Among the people inside the room, only he knew that Lazarus could do it but the man had not done that since he became the pack’s alpha leaving stuff like that to those he paid to do it in the pack. He was caught off guard by the sudden order for things to be brought to him to operate on her. "I will take care of it," Ezra said walking out of the door and looking for who to ask to bring the necessary things to him.
"Make yourself useful and get me an assisting nurse," Lazarus said looking at the healer. Up until now, the healer was not able to understand who these people were that they were giving out orders at will and their alpha said nothing to oppose it but rather he gave her an icy glare that had her shiver.
"Do as he said." Alpha Julio said to the healer and she nodded.
"Yes, Alpha," she said and left the room.
"I want everyone out, except for you Kora," Lazarus said. Right now he was ready to use his claws where scissors should be used if they were not brought to him in time. He could feel her slipping away slowly through the mate bond the more things were dragged.
"I was not planning on leaving her, she’ll die if I let go," Kora said, and Lazarus gave a grateful nod to her.
"I will be nearby if you need anything," Alpha Julio said and left the room. While Darren walked over to Kora, he hugged her. He said, "I will wait outside for you."
Shortly after Darren left, Ezra came back inside with the healer and a nurse bringing the survival tools. The operation began right after Lazarus put on a lab coat and gloves.
During the whole process, Kora made sure to keep Dana alive and breathing by pouring more of her energy into her through their linked hands.
Hours passed when the process came to an end. The baby was out and Dana had been cleaned and was now resting, sound asleep. Lazarus finally let out a sigh of relief when he found that she was alright and they were able to remove most of the silver residue in her all that was needed now was for her trest and the baby was doing alright too. He turned to face Kora and found her losing her balance.
He caught her before she could fall to the ground and she lost consciousness. She had used and given too much of her energy away, and now that she felt it was all over, she could no longer contain the tiredness and fatigue, that she felt. She would need at least a few hours of rest to regain her strength again.
Lazarus carried her outside the room they were in and met Darren but far away from them, Lazarus could understand that like him, Darren was worried about his mate. Lazarus could tell that Darren wanted to tell Kora to stop even before the operation started when he noticed how tired she was but he stopped himself, Lazarus did not know why but he was grateful to him for that.
Darren saw the door open and looked up at it and saw Lazarus coming out of the open door. His eyes fell on the unconscious Kora and he frowned and glared at Lazarus.
"She is fine, she just needs to rest a little and she will be alright," Lazarus said placing Kora in Darren’s open arms. "Thank you," Lazarus said after Darren had taken Kora from him.
"I did it for her," Darren said and started to walk away heading to another section of the pack house." If there is anyone you thank it’s her and not me."
"I know that, but I am still grateful for your help," Lazarus said. Darren pays no heed to him neither does he stop to look at Lazarus, he just continues walking away.
Darren walked into a room that had been prepared for him and placed Kora on the bed. He sat next to her, looking at her face which still had sweat on it and he used his hand to wipe it off. He caressed her cheek lovingly as he watched her sleep.
His black eyes looked at her with fascination in them. Earlier when he heard her wolf speak, he was surprised but he understood that his mate was special in every possible way. They had a lot to talk about which they had not had the time to do because spending a few hours together was not enough to do that. She had promised to tell him everything and right now all that he could be waiting for her. Leaning forward, he planted a kiss on her forehead and then on her cheek before kissing her lips.
