Chapter 66: 66. Too loud
As hours went by, Kora felt her senses heighten. She started hearing the whispers going on out of the room she was in as if the people talking were right next to her. She shook her head to get those voices out of her head. Her mind was already occupied with many things, she didn’t need to worry about shutting people out of her head well. She thought to herself.
She steps out of her room to get some fresh air. Walking down the stairs she could see many of the residents of the pack house had returned backhand to preparing dinner. It only meant that Lazarus would be back soon or he was already back as he said he would not take long to return.
The quiet talk between people had become too loud for her ears. Her ear had become so sensitive to sound that she could not stand it. She used her hands to shield her ears from the sounds around her. She could pick up even the sound of the ants that crawled on the ground. Or the sound of the crickets coming from outside among the grasses. Even the heartbeat of everyone was audible to her and it only got louder as the seconds ticked.
She had broken sweat. For someone who liked to be left alone, felt her privacy was invaded with all these new happenings. As much as she tried to control it, she could not and it was driving her crazy. Running down the many stairs she got to the ground floor where there were more people, unable to handle the many voices at once, she yelled at them. "Shut up, all of you, please." Right after she said that her hands went to shield her wares again as if her voice had become too loud for her. Her heart beat erratically against her chest. She looked lost.
Everyone stopped talking and doing what they found and turned to look at her. They knew Kora to be someone who doesn’t like a crowd but she was unreasonable and mean and she had never told them to shut up just like she did just seconds ago. They had forms on their faces which disappeared after seeing her. She had her over her ears and her eyes closed. Sweat dripped from her forehead and her body seemed to be trembling.
They at once knew that she was alright and her first must be because of that and they could not blame her after seeing her like that. She was a special shifter, or so they were told and they have seen what she can do in the past. They thought whatever was happening now was related to what she is and they didn’t know what to do to help her. The only people whom they knew could help her were the pack’s leaders.
They tried liLinkAlphalphaazaimmediatelylyto to tell him what was happening but he had blocked the link with the pack which meant he was busy and didn’t want to be disturbed.
Someone tried to link Raven and Ezra which went through but they were far away from the pack. Finding it pointless, they linked their Luna who was in the packed ground with the beta female. Afterthethe e ink with Dana was cut off, some of the women approached Kora trying to calm her down as much as they could, at least until the Luna arrived.
Dana rushed in as fast as she could after receiving the link from one of the pack members that something was wrong with Kora. She could not think of what could have possibly gone wrong with Kora, she was fine all day with no signs of sickness which were rare for shifters and even more so for Kora who hadn’t fallen sick since she came to live in the pack.
She ran into the back house followed closely by Rosie. When they arrived, Kitawas on her knees on the floor trying to avoid the people who were only concerned for her. "Kora, are you alright?" Dana asked, kneeling next to her on the floor. A woman came behind Dana to support her. She was heavily pregnant and they wouldn’t want anything to happen to their Alpha and Luna’s child. "Kora, can you hear me?" Dana was panicked, she didn’t know what was wrong with that made like this.
"Stop talking, please," Kora said I’m a whisper. "You are too loud."
Dana didn’t understand but she agreed not to speak anymore. Linking everyone inside the pack house to speak through the mind link and not their mouth to avoid agitating her more she turned to look at Kora, she hadn’t stopped sweating and she was becoming more worried for the girl. "Outside," Kora said, lifting her eyes to meet Dana’s. "I want... outside."
"I think she wants to go outside, Luna." Rosie said through the link to Dana. She was also kneeling beside them on the floor.
"Make way." Dana orders. Everyone created a path for her to the back yard as they all knew that she would be heading there. "Kora, darling," Dana called in a whisper and gently touched her shoulder. "You can go now, the path is clear."
Kora looked at the path with the residents of the pack house km either side of it. She stood up slowly afraid to make a sound that would turn hurtful to her ears. Dana and Rosie stood along with her. They beat her as she made her way out of the pack house and into the cave.
Though they didn’t know what was wrong, they hoped she would be okay soon. Dana mind-linked Lazarus which went through without any obstruction. The link was only blocked to the other pack members. Dana was the Luna of the pack and she was marked by him, it was easy for her to break a blocked link and reach through to him. "Something is wrong." Lazarus asked after exchanging greetings. She wouldn’t bother him if morning was wrong in the pack or with her, herself.
"It’s Kora, I don’t know what is wrong with her." Dana said. Her tone was sad.
"Where is she now?" Asked, Lazarus.
"Inside the cave. She told everyone to keep quiet and she was sweating and trembling." Saud Dana.
"She will be fine," Lazarus said. "I will be there as soon as I can. Didn’t stress too much over it., I will be there soon." Lazarus said.
Dana nodded her head and said. "Okay, please be quick."
