Chapter 53: 53. Go to hell!
Seeing the three men walking towards them, they instinctively took a backward step. Kora stood at the front, keeping Emily behind her. Emily was scared because she had never encountered such a situation before. If they were ever to ambush the pack, she was always inside the pack and in a safe room that was well-guarded.
And if she were to be seen outside, there would be guards and warriors who will escort them inside for their safety. Even if she had started training, she knew that she was not prepared for an all-out battle with creatures that were older, stronger and much more experienced than her.
"Link someone for help," Kora told her and she nodded her head and went right at it. Her eyes glazed over linking someone from the pack.
"My dad will be here soon with help," Emily informed Kora. Emily then shifts into her golden wolf and stepped forward standing beside Kora. She snarled and bared her fangs out at the three men as if warning them not to come any closer than they already have.
The men, two of which were rogues and the other being a vampire stopped five steps away from them and smirked at the pups. As if taunting Emily’s wolf for her size, one of the rogues shifted and glared down at Emily who looked like the pup that she was before his massive wolf.
Emily whimpered a little and moved a step back. Her actions earned a chuckle from the other two men while the wolf showed its fangs, Which they pass out as a smirk.
"Now, now pup, stay out of this, we have business with your friend over here." The other rogue said and pointed his hand towards Kora.
Kora growled and her eyes flickered, she stared at them with no trace of fear in her eyes but rather anger. She did not know how these trespassers were able to have come into the back unnoticed and even so close to the pack house. But what she knew was that she could not show fear to them and appease their ego.
"What’s the matter? Never thought you will be found?" Asked the vampire whose eyes had turned blood red.
"..."
Kora gave no response, she just stared daggers at them, and if looks could kill... "For a child who is only ten, you sure are brave." The Werewolf standing next to the vampire said. Though his voice sounded nonchalant, his face had a deep disapproving frown. "Let’s get this over with."
Hearing that, Emily stepped forward as if to protect Kora from them. It was obvious that it was Kora whom they have come for according to their earlier spoken words and she wanted to keep her friend with her, she was not going to let them take her friend away.
The rogue in his beast form launched forward and grabbed Emily’s wolf by her neck with its canines as if to snap her head. Emily whimpered and struggled effortlessly against the mouth of the bigger wolf, she stops when she felt his teeth sink into her skin. While the other two men walked to either side of Kora to take her.
From what they know and have heard, the girl could not shift and her abilities have not awoken yet so she poses no danger to them. All that they had to do was to grab her and go away. After many failed attempts, thanks to Lazarus always foiling their plans, they have finally gotten the prized rare wolf.
At that moment all Kora could see was red. She was mad. How could they treat her friend like that? Her eyes started glowing, and so did her hair. The colour of her eyes was the same as that hot coal burning bright and a bit yellow. Her hands were balled into fists.
The vampire and wolf who had come to take her paused in their steps seeing the changes that were taking place in her. Realising that her abilities were awakening, they knew they had to hurry and sedate her before she got out of control.
Emily started struggling again when she saw the men grabbing Kora’s hands and trying to get her to inhale a substance that was on the handkerchief while Kora made no effort to get away from them. She seemed to be in a trance as her eyes and hair glowed even brighter.
Just when the handkerchief was about to touch her nose, Kora growled out dangerously "Go to hell!" She snapped taking the by surprise.
After those three words left her lips something that shocked everyone including Kora herself, happened.
The vampire and wolf that were holding her burned up in flames turning to ashes in no time. Even the one who held Emily in its jaws was burnt making him release Emily and step back and away from them before completely burning up as well.
Emily ran over to where Kora stood, circling Kora’s legs. She then stops and looked at Kora. Emily’s wolf looked into the bright red eyes of Kora with fascination and curiosity, it tilted its head to the side and wagged its tail.
Kora raised her hands and stared at them but she did not find anything unusual about them. She walked over to the lake to see her reflection in the water. while Emily shifts back to her human skin and followed behind her.
Kora was stunned at what she saw. The eyes that were staring back at her looked nothing like hers but she was sure that it was her reflection that was reflected by the clear waters of the lake.
"You are beautiful and amazing, Kora." Emily was all smiles as she spoke, Proud of her friend. "Thank you for saving us."
Kora did not know how to react, she just kept on staring at the image that was reflected by the water unmoving. She gave a glance at Emily who nodded her head as if saying ’It is real’ with the gesture. "I... I... Do... Do you know...."
She stops talking and turned to look behind them. Thinking they were some other people who were there to harm them Emily also turned alarmed.
Footsteps could be heard from around them and they turned vigilant looking around. They let down their guard when they picked up the familiar scents of Emily’s father and Lazarus’ scents. The scent of Ezra was also mixed in the air but Kora also picked a fourth scent which she did not expect at all.
