Chapter 41: 41. Bring one alive
"You are special, Kora," Lazarus said with a soft smile playing on his lips. "There is nothing wrong with you and you should be proud of who you are and what you can do."
The way he spoke was a surprise to everyone in the office with him, and his voice was tender and soft and had a hint of pride in it. He sounded like a proud father speaking to her.
"There is nothing wrong with me?" Kora asked, just to be sure. Lazarus nodded his head and ruffle her hair a bit. "Then, why am I different?" She asked again. Her beast had not awakened yet and now she was seeing some weird changes in her body but Lazarus was telling her that she was special and different. She found it weird that he would say that to her just to comfort her. She wanted to believe him because Lazarus was not the kind of man who would lie to you just to make you feel better about yourself.
"You are a special kind of wolf, Kora," Lazarus said. He was being very patient with her. He didn’t want her to feel out of place in the pack. "You will know more as you get older and discover more about yourself."
Kora had a frown on her face as she looked at him. "Can’t you tell me?" She asked. If he knew she was a special wolf then he should also know what kind of wolf she was, right? So why would he not tell her? "I want to know."
"I can’t tell you, Kora," Lazarus said and Kora’s frown deepened. "I am not allowed to."
When Kora heard him, She felt annoyed but she didn’t let it show in her expression. She was a master at disguising and masking her emotions since she was little and rarely showed any emotions so covering up her annoyance with a blank look was not hard. She turned to where Ezra and Raven were seated and face them.
"If you are coming for answers from us you won’t be getting any," Raven said to her even without hearing her ask about it. "Alpha has already told you what you should know."
"I was not looking at you, Raven, but you just wanted my attention and decided to speak." She retorted. Raven scowled and wanted to say something but refrained from it knowing that she would have a lot more to reply. "Ezra?" Kora called and looked at him with puppy eyes.
Ezra looked at her eyes and cursed inwardly. "Those eyes won’t work this time, little girl, I know nothing." He lied. It was the best way to escape her.
Kora pouted and put on a sad look on her face. They saw her and thought that she would make an amazing actor if she ever considered going into the movie industry. "Stop the act, you know we all know that you are acting," Raven said unable to take it anymore when no one said anything about it.
"It’s your birthday today, why don’t you go and have fun with your friends, come back when everything is prepared," Lazarus said to her.
"Okay," Kora said hesitantly. She gave a glance at each of the three ken in there and then walked out.

Shadow moon pack,
Darren stood on the balcony of his mansion and looked down, watching the pack members moving to and fro with his arms tucked in his pants pockets. He only had a pair of black leather pants on leaving his torso bare. His tattoos were on full display. They covered his body reaching the wrists of his arms. The only place that didn’t have a tattoo was where the mark of the Alpha supreme was on his left breast.
He had grown even more oppressive in the past five years. Every bit of foolishness that was left in him had dissipated along with the years as they went by and now he was someone whom no one in their rights state of mind offended.
His dark eyes stared at the pack house which was not too far away from his mansion expressionlessly. Looking at Jim no one knew what was going on in his mind as he had become even more unpredictable as he hit older.
"Alpha," Someone called out to him from behind.
"What is?" Darren asked without looking at the person as he already knew who it was by his scent.
"There is a rogue attack going on at Jewel pack as we speak," Levi said with his head bowed. "Their alpha is asking for assistance, should we help them, Alpha?"
"Is everyone ready?" Asked Darren.
"Yes, Alpha." Levi answered. "We are ready to leave once you give the order."
"Did you send anyone ahead before now." Asked Darren.
"Yes Alpha."
Darren glared and growled at him which made him take a step back. "I was afraid it would he too late for us to help if they were not sent, Alpha, I beg your mercy."
"We leave at once." Darren said and walked inside. He took a black shirt with a black leather jacket from the closet and walked off and out if the mansion. Levi hurried followed him while mind linking the others to move as well.
On their way Darren was wondering why the sudden attack. There was moment of calm which he knew was the calm before the storm but then again, it was a rare thing for an attack to take place during the day unless they ere up to something so this sudden attack from the rogues served as a surprise to him. Just a little.
Thinking of the rogues, his wondered off to Sebastian and Collins, he got news that they are found joining hands with the rogues and vampires but they have not done anything for so long. It was unlike Sebastian to just stay low and for her about revenge the guy was vengeful and Darren knew that. A sudden thought crossed his mind and he stopped I’m his tracks.
’Lead them to jewel pack, I will stay here and see what is happening’. Darren said through the link to Levi. ’Report to me anything that takes place there’.
He had a feeling that it was all just a diversion to pull him out of the pack.
’Understood, Alpha’. Levi said without question. Darren did not need to go anyway.
"Bring one alive." Darren said.
