Chapter 40: 40. You are special, Kora
Korea woke up as early as 5:00 Am. she looked outside and saw that it was relatively still dark and decided to sleep again she could slack once in a while, right? She could just sleep for thirty more minutes and then she would be fine and ready to face the day.
When Korea finally woke up, the sun was up and burning bright in the sky glaring through the window. The curtains danced to the wind allowing the sun the illuminate the inside of the room, it was a beautiful morning.
She suddenly remembered her early morning trading with Raven and Ezra and stood up in a hast, she checked the time on her phone and saw that it was already 7:30 Am. She then ran into the bathroom to freshen up.
It has been five years since she came to the Blood moon pack. She had been through intensive training on Lazarus’s orders. She did not mind that they were training her so much but she was concerned about their reason. They pay more attention to her than anyone else.
Today was one of those days when Raven would join in training her to test her skills and take note of her improvements since he last spared with her and report it to Lazarus and Dana.
Korea quickly brushed her teeth and spay out the paste into the sink without looking at herself in the mirror, she did not like taking too much time in the bathroom, and looking at her reflection would make take some more seconds to study her appearance and she did not have that time. Hurriedly she took a quick bath and ran out of the room right after putting on a pair of black jeans and a peach-colored top and slipping her feet into a pair of black slippers.
Korea walks down the stairs. She could the inhabitants of the pack house moving back and forth busily when they saw her they scrammed and hurriedly left the scene. She understood because she knew was planning her birthday and Saint want her to know about it. Seeing no one down there, Kora decided to go and find Lazarus instead knowing that the boys would most likely be there since she had missed the training.
She opened the door to the alpha’s office and she wasn’t wrong they were probably reporting about her absence in the training ground early in the morning.
Thru turned towards the door and looked at her. They looked shocked as they saw. Lazarus opened his mouth to say something but no words came out and he clamped up again.
Their eyes ran up and down her body and focused back on her face and something on her hair which was tied in a messy bun atop her head. She thought there was something on her face with the way they looked at her, she remembered seeing a similar look in the eyes of the pack members when they saw her before scrambling away but she did not pay much attention to it. But now their gaze made her feel weird.
"Is there something only face?" She asked and successfully made them avert their gaze.
"Did you look at yourself in the mirror this morning?" Ezra asked.
Korea shook her head, "No. Why? Something wrong with my face?" she asked.
"No, there is nothing wrong with your face," Ezra said with a smile. And looked away.
Kora was still not satisfied and looked at Lazarus hoping to hey an answer from him. "You look different," Lazarus said, clearly understanding the look she was giving him. "It’s not bad if that is what you are thinking," he added when she gave him a suspicious look.
"Go and look at yourself in the mirror if you don’t understand," Raven said. His face had returned to its original and usual poker face and he looked like he was never surprised, to begin with.
Korea glanced at Lazarus who gave her a nod and she left right after. Kora walked back to her room and stood in front of a body-size mirror and looked at herself.
She was shocked at her reflection. The image that the mirror reflected was a girl with a pair of green eyes with a tint of red within them staring back at her, and her hair had a mix color of black and baby blue at its tips.
She pulled out the band that was used to hold up the hair and let it fall, cascading on her back, over her shoulder, and on her face. She looked at the hair and then at her eyes and thought she was seeing things but after remembering the way everyone looked at her she knew she was not hallucinating but seeing the actual truth with her eyes.
Korea rushed back to Lazarus and bashed in without knocking or seeking permission. "What is happening to me?" She asked now standing in front of Lazarus. "Do you know what is happening to me?" She asked again this time also looking at Raven and Ezra.
They were all quiet and no one was ready to speak. "Do you know what is happening to me?" She asked again almost crying. She was freaked out and didn’t know what to do. She had no idea what was happening. Why her eyes suddenly changed from her dark obsidian eyes to green and red? Or how her hair changed color overnight. Even her face looked a bit different.
"Lazarus, what is wrong with me?" Kora asked.
Lazarus closed his eyes, he didn’t know what to tell her and he knew she was feeling out seeing the changes in herself. He would think something was wrong too if he was not aware of her special abilities that will unlock themselves whenever they feel like it. No matter how mature she was, she was still a girl who just turned ten today. "There is nothing wrong with you, Kora," Lazarus said. "You are just different from everyone else."
"How am I different from...."
"You will understand as you grow," Lazarus said but letting her ask more questions because he did not know what else he will say to ease her. "You experience changes like this because you are different." He said and Kora blinked at him.
"You are special, Kora."
