Chapter 179: 179. Lord Azrail

A vampire stood before Leeoy with his head bowed and cheering in fear while witnessing the rage in the captain’s eyes. He threw a punch to the wall and a cracking sound was heard. By the time his fist left the wall, grains of sand dropped to the floor and cracks could be seen on the wall serving as testimony to the impact it had taken.

"Captain," The vampire called when Leroy took a step towards him. He tried not to cower in fear but he could not. He did not want to take a step back now or it might just enrage Leroy even more. But if he didn’t, he might end up being a pile of ash soon. Conflicted and unsure of what to do, he stood and braced himself for anything that would be thrown at him.

Leroy had his fingers curled around the vampire’s throat. He stared at him with crimson eyes and the strength on his hold increased by the second but the vampire remained standing, not flinching even for a second. His expressions remained the same. Stoic and expressionless. He held an almost lifeless look in his eyes. His hand only moved forward when the hold on his neck became too tight and he could hear the around of his neck bones cracking almost snapping to pieces but his eyes still held the same look.

Leroy was infuriated. He was mad at the news that he had just received and now, this vampire dared to remain stoic and nonchalant before him even in the face of his death. Out of anger and annoyance, his grip tightened around the vampire’s neck and more strength was applied. But before he could snap the neck, the chills ran down his spine, accompanied by a cold and commanding voice.

"That is enough, Leroy," Leroy froze that he failed to release his grip for a moment. "I said enough." With that, his senses returned and he immediately released his hand, looked ahead of him, and bowed.

The vampire who was about to be strangled turned around and offered a bow as well. His expression remained poker and his gaze almost as piercing as that of the vampire who had just made his presence known. He didn’t even bother to touch his neck to make sure every bone and joint was in order, "Lord Dmitri." he spoke and raised his head to meet Dmitri’s gaze.

Dmitri studied the cure before him and he could understand that he was a handful for Leroy but at the same time, he seemed tamed. Tamed but very powerful and not easily threatened by power but he had respect for those of a higher rank. It was why he didn’t fight back even when it was obvious that he was stronger when it came to strength compared to Leroy. And he was dressed in a dignified manner.

A small but creepy smile appeared on his lips and he made his way inside the room that had now become Leroy’s office. "Your name," Dmitri said, he stopped and stood in front of him. They were of the same height and stature the kinky difference being the facial features and Dmitri having longer hair that fell to his lower back while the vampire’s only stopped below his shoulder.

"Azrail," The vampire said. His tone was flat and monotonous but Dmitri could understand that I was in his nature and not meant as disrespect.

"Leroy," Dmitro called but his gaze still locked on Azrail. There was interest and intrigue in his eyes as he stared at the younger vampire standing in front of him.

"My Lord," Leroy stepped forward and stood beside Azrail. He bowed and then spoke. "He is Azrail Butcherman, the lord of Snow Town," Leroy said, only giving the needed information to his master.

"A City Lord?" Dmitri asked rhetorically. He smiled and then turned around to leave the office. "Come with me, both of you."

They followed him without question and soon arrived at Dmitri’s office which was much bigger and furnished lavishly compared to the previous office they were in. Dmitri took his seat and gestured for Azrail to sit as well. "A Lord shouldn’t be left standing."

He bowed and sat down without waiting to be told twice. Leroy who remained standing wanted to ball his first buy he might end up being called jealous at the fact that someone else was treated so nicely by the cold lord Dmitri.

"Why did you strangle him, Leroy?" Dmitri asked. He locked his gaze with the captain, his gaze sharp as if telling him not to dare tell a lie.

"He came here asking for an audience from my lord, his city was overthrown by the humans and many of our kind have been spotted and either killed or taken hostage, he guesses that they were taken for an experiment," Leroy said, his time dropping an octave with every word that he spoke as if finally realizing that he was in the wrong to have wanted to strangle him.

"Is this true?" Dmitri asked Azrail.

"Yes, My lord." He spoke without averting his gaze from the lord of all vampires. Dmitri could not help but smile inwardly at the vampire in front of him. He was a leader and had the air of a leader around him. Any other vampire should feel threatened having him around but Dmitri found himself growing fond of him and wanting to keep him near.

"Was that why you decided to kill him? Isn’t that rude?" He asked Leroy, in a sing-song voice. Leroy’s face contorted but he hid it before it became too obvious.

"I beg my lord’s mercy," Leroy said with a bow. Though he was wondering within himself what was wrong with the lord today that he was acting out of character.

"Should he be forgiven, Azrail?" Dmitri asked and Leroy’s jaws would have dropped to the ground if that was possible.

"He was only being faithful to the Lord, so theirs should decide." No matter what, Leeoy was still the captain chosen by Dmitri himself. He would be the one deciding his fate even if he was given the power to do so. He was a killer but he had manners and integrity. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"You have been pardoned today, Leroy, Thank Azrail," Dmitri said and Leory bowed. "You have nowhere to go now, so I want you to want you to stay by my side," Dmitry said to Azrail. I wouldn’t want to waste a good soldier.

"Thank you, My lord, but there are still some vampires at Snow Town who would still need help and guidance," Azrail said indirectly rejecting the offer.

Dmitri smiled knowing what he was trying to do. "Leroy will have everything sorted. He cast a glance at Leroy and the vampire captain now.

"I will take care of it, My lord." was Leroy’s reply before he departed the room.

Having no other choice, Azrail nodded his head in agreement to stay by his lord’s side. "That is good," Dmitri praised. He liked the vampire.
