Chapter 164: 164. Acceptance
At The Vampire Territory,
The news of what was happening in the coven reached Dmitri and he became furious at how quickly the situation escalated. He so wanted to head there and kill someone. To be specific, the witch, Crysta, for the trouble she was causing and also disrupting their ritual.
He was already angry enough that he had to leave the coven because of what she said and now she was engaged in a duel with his woman. He crushed the glass that was in his making the water left made pour to the floor and some fell on the table in front of him. Glass pieces shattered to the floor and some even pierced his palm and blood dripped out but he did not since or show any sign of pain but rather anger was evident in his expression and chill from his eyes.
"My Lord, what are your orders?" Leroy asked. He maintained a five-foot distance between them not wanting to be caught in the vampire’s rage unaware.
"Keep an eye on the witch," he said. He stretched his hand forward showing his palm that still had the glass shards stuck on it. Without waiting to be told what to do, Leroy came forward and picked out the pieces one by one and then left the office only to come back shortly with a wet and warm towel to clean the blood. "Make sure you know everything about her and what was meant by working with the humans."
Leroy stopped and stood straight, hooked at the Dmitri whose gaze was cast outside strained at a certain bird that chirped on a tree branch. It seems the man was still unknown to the humans’ involvement with their kind just yet. "About her involvement with the humans, she is the witch who has been helping them track us down, and telling all that they need to know about our existence."
Dmitri turned to look at him and he bowed. "Explain," he said.
"There are a group of humans out there known as hunters, they hunt all creatures that are human, shifters, spell casters, and our kind. Some of them happen to have had an encounter with us and....." He paused due to the flare that he received from Dmitri.
"How long has this been going on?" Dmitri asked in a cold tone that made Leroy shiver. He took a deep breath and adjusted his posture.
"It has been a few years, My Lord, but they had never posed any major threat to us vampires before until recently and we have learned that they have an organization that rules and controls what they do," Leriloy said and fit a moment her felt his breath leave his lungs, feeling suffocated like a hand was around his neck.
"Why was I not informed of this new development?" Dmitry asked while sta ding and raking slow and predatory steps towards Leroy. "Have I left you to have too much freedom and authority that you think I shouldn’t know about goes on anymore?"
Leroy was on knees with his hand around his neck as he fought for breath. If he had a beating heart, by now he was sure it would have stopped beating already. "Answer me, Leroy," Dmitri commanded.
He tried to speak but no words were audible because he was still being chocked. The longer he took to respond l, the stronger the hold around his neck got making it even more difficult to speak. "N...o, No... my lord," he forced himself to speak. The grip around his neck loosened and he began to cough. Dmitri having been sleeping for so long, had almost forgotten that his lord was not like every other vampire but he was born with abilities that were only considered common in the past centuries ago though there were still rare and only the first few vampires possess them.
Leroy raised his head to see Dmitri looming over him, his eyes crimson and a dark and menacing aura swirling around intimidating, his long and dark hair falling by the sides of his face highlighting the red glow of his eyes and contrasting his pale skin. He looked like the embodiment of death with a killing intent that was directed at him. He averted his gaze with a bow and an apology. "Pardon my incompetence."
Dmitri did not move nor did he say a week rd but the darkness that surrounded him was receding and which was enough for Leroy to breathe in relief.

At The Shadow Moon Pack,
It was almost sunrise when Ezra’seyws fluttered open. The sight of the familiar room comes to view. He clutched his head feeling a little headache that did not last long before it receded. The memories of what had happened to him resurfaced in his mind playing one after the other and his finger curled into fists by his sides.
He looked beside him and saw Mayeo whose eyes were still closed but he could also see a finger moved followed by another and then they curled into a fist. His eyes opened but he stayed immobile. He didn’t move or make a sound and just lay straight looking at the ceiling. His heart beat low and rhythmic.
Without speaking either, Ezra lay and mind-linked Lazarus to let him know that he was awake. "Alpha," He said in a low voice even if it was a mind link. He was sure that Lazarus must have been awake by now because it has become a part of him to wake early as an alpha.
"I am coming," Lazarus said and ended the link.
Meanwhile, Mateo tried to mind-link Levi because he did want to disturb the alpha, he knew that Darren had been there with them the whole before probably leaving to have some work done after they fell into slumber. He deserved some rest. But calling Levi was both to make sure that he was back and okay and to let him know not to worry about him too much
He tried but the link was not going through is he gave up and mind-linked Leo instead. With the assurance from Leo that their Alpha was awake and already busy, he decided to let him as well.
"What do you plan to do to witches?" Ezra asked. He was not going to let happened slide, he would make to get back at them at some point to let them know that he was no one’s puppet.
"Make them regret their very existence," Mateo replied.
Ezra hummed. He sat on the edge of the bed looking at where Mateo still lay, "That makes two of us."
Noticing the difference in his voice, he turned to look at him, his face was emotionless but not in a bad way, he seemed to have come to peace with has happened and his tone was also getting its free and friendly vibe back, though he agreed with him to teach the witches a lesson, he could tell that it was not due to his pain but out of anger which was natural. "How did you get over it?" He asked, returning his gaze to the ceiling.
Ezra did not need any further explanation to understand what he meant. It was obvious what he was asking, they both suffered the same thing at the same time. Killing their supposed better halves. "Acceptance," he replied.
Mateo turned his head to look at him again but he did not speak. "You can’t change what has been done or has happened, but can accept it and move on, it took me a while to fully realize and understand it and even longer to act on it. It still hurts. The pain will never be forgotten, that I know, but I have decided to accept it and live with it."
"Hmm," He hummed and nodded. "I wish for that too." He said.
The door opened and Lazarus entered first. Ezra smiled at his alpha and friend which was enough to make Lazarus relax and breath out a sogh of relief. "Good morning to both of you." Lazarus said as he walked over and around beside Ezra’s bed and held his shoulder. "I am glad that you are okay."
"Me too," Ezra said while placing his hand on the hand of Lazarus that was on his shoulder. "You should have gone back, I wouldn’t have mind it."
"I wanted to stay, Raven has gone back to look after the pack." He said and Ezra nodded his head knowing that Raven and danawere more than capable of running the pack single handedly. "How do you feel now?" Lazarus asked directing the question of the both of them.
"Much better," The said almost at the same time.
"I am glad to hear that." Darren’s voice came from the slightly open door even before his silhouett could be seen.
"Alpha!" Mateo said sat up almost bowing his head when Darre placed a hand on his shoulder to stop him.
"I am just glad that you are alright now."
