Chapter 150: 150. Hunter’s reason
Over at Coldshade City where the humans were gathered, Jarred stood with Hunter beside him. They stood before a group of humans with David and Jack in the midst of them.
They were members of the organization created and led by Jarred against the nonhumans. Jarred had just addressed them and dispatched some of them to other cities to keep an eye on this happening there report to the organization.
David looked in from where he stood and could but believe that all this had been going on while the majority of the human race was clueless about it all of it. He and Jack stood at the side and watched as Jarred dispatched men to different cities and some to other countries as spies to know how many countries were inhabited by the nonhumans.
"What do you think?" Hunter asked as he walked over to them, he stops with his hands tucked inside his pants’ pockets. "Is this good enough for you?" He asked because David had said that they were not many enough to combat the nonhuman population in the country and not to talk about the rest of the world.
"This is good," He admitted he was flad f have met Hunter some years back and he still remembered him to call him when he needed such help. "To be honest I didn’t expect you guys to be this much."
"What were your thoughts?" Jarred asked walking over with a cigarette between his fingers. "That we were some measly organization without members?"
"Yes," He affirmed and Jarred let out a hearty chuckle.
"Why do you hate the shifters?" Jarred asked. He needed to his drive. He was driven by hatred Jarred could see that but what caused it?
"My daughter is mated to one of them," David said and clenched his fist. "He threw in jail for five years."
Well, that was it. Jared thought to himself. "Revenge on your daughter’s man?" he asked while taking a drag in the cigarette.
"Yes, and more," David replied and Jarred turned to ask the same to Jack who just raised his hand.
"I think it’s fun doing this." He said and Jarred was not one bit surprised by what he had heard. Instead, he gave him an understanding nod.
"I see," He said and looked ahead of them where his people were many. "I hope you have fun and stay alive long enough to be useful." He said and walked away leaving behind with them.
"We should get going now it is getting late," David said. He glanced at his time and then at Jack. "We need to go."
"We see you all tomorrow," Jack said to Hunter. Wjop only nods and watched as they left. He took a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and a lighter. Placing the cigarette between his teeth, he lit and tagged on it before putting the lighter away.
Hunter then sort for Jarred who was not too far away addressing a group of people who had yet to depart. "Let’s talk, Jarred." He said. The other humans gave a salute to him and he nods in acknowledgement.
"You can all leave now," Jarred said to the group of people he was addressing. "What did you want to talk about?" he asked turning his full attention to Hunter while the stood face to face. Hunter was taller than Jarreed by an inch.
"All of this." Hunter made a hand feature of the whole building that they were in. "Are you sure it is safe to have them all going like that?" He asked.
"What we are doing is not safe, so I do not expect sending them out to be safe," Jarred replied. While Hunter just stared at him. "They are trained for this and it is time to put them all to use. My investment in all of this would not be put into training incompetent people." They began walking inside Jarred’s office. "Everyone has a drive to this, just like you, I want to see just how strong their drive is."
"Mine is different from theirs, you know that," Hunter said and glared at Jarred for bringing that up and reminding him of what he did t want to remember but lock up at the back of his mind.
"I am sorry for what happened to them," Jarred said and Hunter nearly growled at him. His reason for wanting to eradicate the shifter and vampire race was strictly personal and closer to his heart than anyone else in the building. It was because of what happened to him that he sounded like a deranged maniac when he spoke about the shifters and nonhumans for the first time and that was when David heard him.
Nearly twenty years ago when he was still more youthful, at the early age of twenty-five, he witness the gruesome scene where his wife and three-year-old daughter were killed by a rogue werewolf when they went out for a picnic while he was on his way to meet with them. They did nothing wrong, all that they did was to come out for a nice picnic out in the open and they were met with such fate.
Since then Hunter decided it was time for him to hunt down all the creatures that were not humans and eradicate them all. It did not matter whether it was a shifter, vampire or witch, they were all non-humans and deserved to die pitifully without any remorse shown upon them. Back then he didn’t know much anything about werewolves and that the one who atta led and killed his family was a rogue but even after finding that out and gaining more knowledge, he didn’t care anymore and chose to go with his initial plan and eradicate all that comes in the form of a non-human.
"Don’t you dare bring that up again, Jarred," Hunter said and Jarred nods. He had known a bit about Hunter’s personality and his match he loved his woman and daughter but he had to see them being killed by another creature. It was not a fun memory to remember.
"I won’t," he said and raised his hand in the air, "It’s a promise." He said but Junyer said nothing to him.
His mind went back to that fateful evening when it all happened and he mouthed, "They will all pay for what they had done to my wife and princess."
