Chapter 148: 148. Bad news
Slowly, the days went by and the shifters had a moment of peace without having to worry about losing anyone. They when about their daily life without working and spending some quality time with their mates and families.
Today, Leo and Logan walked into the Alphas office inside the pack house, they had not had the time to come as that Alpha since the incident that landed them both in the hospital. They could have left since but Sophia was adamant about keeping them in the hospital until she was sure that nothing else would go wrong with them even though others had been discharged and nothing happened to them.
Now they both walked into the Alpha’s office to give the reports of the previous week’s happenings. A lot happened the week the Alpha spent a few days at the Blood Moon Pack that they were yet to report to him.
There were not the type of things that could be said through a mind link or phone call but reported directly. So here they were hoping the Aloha doesn’t think of them as incompetent and gets mad at them.
Leo knocked on the door, and they both stepped inside when given permission. "Alpha," They both said in unison with their heads bowed. They sat when he nods and pointed them to the seat in front of him.
"Tell me." He said because he could see the panic and worry in their eyes and on their faces.
"Alpha...." Leo started but trailed off before he could say the actual thing. Seeing Darren wrong at him, he cleared his throat and continued. "Some of the Alphas have dealings with the Vampires."
So much for a peaceful period! Darren thought and rolled his eyes inwardly. His eyes turned sharp as he stared at Leo. "Care to tell me why you don’t point them out before the ceremony? Or even during the ceremony?" He asked in a low deep voice that almost sounded like a growl.
"I was still trying to find out who and how many, Alpha," Leo said with his eyes staring down. It was not right to stare directly at an angry alpha. It will enrage him more because it might be taken as a challenge.
"And did you find them?" Darren asked. His fingers tapped on the table in a steady rhythm as he waited for the reply.
"Not all of them, Alpha," Leo said, he ft ashamed that he was not able to pick out the little traitors.
"Names," Darren demanded.
"One of them is the Quick Fang Pack, Alpha," Leo said and Darren frowned. That Pack lost their Luna to the vampire and rogue attack.
"Keep an eye on their activities, monitor very closely," Darren said and Leo gave a nod. "Fish out the great without alarming anyone, I give you a week to do that." Darren wanted to compensate that pack for the death of their Luna but right now, he thought it was deserving, for the treachery, the rest a leader to the hands of the ones whom they have gone to.
"Yes, Alpha, I’ll do my best," Leo said.
Darren turned his attention to Logan. "What did you find?" He asked. He knew he would be getting more bad news because he also looked tense. It seems their moment of peace was over and it was time to face the harsh reality once again.
"I was able to follow some of the watches and I found where the Abominations are being made. But the problem is..... The Abominations are no longer just rogues like they used to be in past." Logan reporter and Darren frowned.
"If they are not anymore, then what are they?" Darren asked. The things around them were starting to get dark and more dangerous than ever and he had to come up with the ways and means to stop it all. It is times like this that hated the most but as the Alpha, the responsibility can not be shifted to another.
"There have been reports of missing pack members from the distant packs recently. At first, we all thought they would return to their packs but they never did." Logan said.
"Where are you going with this?" Darren did t like the direction it was going because he could already tell what it was.
Logan took a deep breath, he hated what was happening as well. "The missing were those captured by the vampires and watches and they are being turned into the Abomination creatures along with a few revolting vampires." He said.
"Call Mateo and Levi in here." Darren orders and Leo was quick to send the mind link to the two individuals that were called.
In a few minutes, Mateo and Levi walked inside the office, they bowed and greeted the Alpha before sitting and waiting to know why they have been called upon.
"Repeat what you said about the missing pack members," Darren said to Logan while starting at his Beta and Gamma.
Logan repeated everything he had said to the hearing of everyone in the office. This left Mateo and Levi speechless after hearing it all. They didn’t know what to say with the new knowledge. As the Beta and Gamma Supreme, it was their job and responsibility to know all this and report to the Alpha but they had no idea about it.
"Do I need to tell you what to do?" Darren asked and the two shook their heads.
"No, Alpha, we know what to do," Mateo said. He looked at Levi who looked pale. He was Gamma responsible for the security of the packs, he felt he was doing enough to keep the packs safe and this was happening under his nose without him knowing it. "We will take care of it," Mateo said again and pinched Levi’s lap lightly to snap him out of his self-blame.
Darren dismissed everyone not wanting to have another soul in his office, at least not for a while. He had gotten two bad news today and he knew that once Lucy and Lucinda returned, there was going to be another bad news if not worse news. He pinched the bridge between his brows and massaged his temple. This was annoying.
The door opened and he raised his head in irritation, but before he could say anything, he caught a whiff of the scent and shut up immediately. This was the one person whom he could not dismiss.
Kora walked instead ofde and saw him sitting there looking drained but his eyes held a spark in them when he saw her. She walked over to him and assayed his shoulder. "I am disturbing you?"
"Never," H said and made her coke to stand in front of him with her back leaning against the desk. He buried his head in her stomach and took in her soothing scent. "Thank you for coming."
"Mhm," She hummed and ran her fingers through his dark hair. "What happened?"
"Received some bad news, nothing new."
