Chapter 135: 135. Ignore the mate bond
Gaia stopped moving a split second only to receive a punch from Dmitri that sent her staggering back and whimpering at the unforeseen blow. She was only distracted because she could feel that her mate was in pain and discomfort but that was the opportunity that the vampire needed to get the advantage.
He attacked her continuously while she dodged. Her mind and focus were divided and got rewarded with a series of continuous attacks.
Thorny vined spirited from the ground and held Dmitri’s ankles and snaking its way upward, wrapping itself around him and keeping him immobilized ["Mate,"] She called through the link.
["Gaia, I am fine, you don’t have to worry."] Darren said through the link. He was still holding on and standing on his feet even when he felt like hell. The poison from tie Abominations on his skin had almost spread to every inch of his body. His neck had root-like veins in black and purple color stretching and inching for his face.
It had affected him so much that he could no longer maintain his lycan form and was now in his human form. He was surrounded by his warriors and a few alphas who had seen what was happening to him.
It looked weird because no one else who was poisoned by the Abominations aids such a reaction to it.
["Lie."] Gaia said. She looked at Dmitri who was still tied by the roots and slammed him into the ground hard enough to knock out a normal person but he was still very much alive. She made her towards where Darrrn was but was stopped by two female rogues.
They came at and attacked her which made her lose focus for a moment and the vines that held Dimitri went loose as he broke free. ["Hold on, mate, I am coming."] she said. With her focus now on the rogue she-wolves, she lunged at one of them only to be pulled or run over by the other.
Kora looked around her and found that the warriors that were with her had either been severely injured or are engaged with an opponent. A witch came into play when she saw that her mind was divided and she was unfocused. A spell was used on her as she fell to the ground
She could summon her flames but there was no telling whether or not it will hurt her people as well. All of these people were in the mess because of her and she could not risk making their situation worse than it already was.
"I don’t want this to end like the last we met, Gaia, take back your human form, I want to have a word with her, he might be more cooperative," Dmitri said walking closer to her.
The two female shifters went to her side, one of them had her fangs bared and ready to bite into her neck while the other held her ankle in her mouth ready to break it if she made any move.
Gaia glared at the vampire and at the witch who stood close to her to maintain her spell. Gaia was annoyed at herself. Her maye needed her now but she could but even break free from a witch a couple of rogues. She could even lift a muscle.
"What do you say, Gaia?" Dimitri asked and stopped right in front of Gaia and bent fi her level. "If history were to repeat itself, we both know who will be dying looking at your current predicament."
Gaia closed her eyes ignoring all that he was blabbering about and tried to break free from the witch’s spell.
She felt her body getting lighter and soon she was able to feel some strength* return to some parts of her body. Concentrating once more, she was able to circulate her healing ability around her body. She reopened her eyes when she regained control of her body again.
From where he was, Darren saw that Kora had been pinned with no way out, he tried to he to her himself but it was difficult to do so he had no other choice but to ask Mateo to leave and go to her. She was more important than anything.
Though he didn’t want to leave the alpha when he was in that condition, he the importance of having the Luna not just to them as the pack but also to the alpha himself.
At the same time, Ezra arrived at the scene with bruises on his body evidence of the fight he had to go through before getting there. The best of Ezra searched for Kora and found her in trouble. He made his way to her but stopped when he caught a scent that he had never smelt before. It was sweet and intoxicating. It was the scent of his mate whom he had never met before. He shook his head, not when he knew she was near, he would search for her later, Kora’s life was more important.
On the other side, Mateo linked Levi and asked him to go to the Alpha while made his way to his Luna. He was just a few feet away when he caught her scent, the lavender. His beast became excited and drawn to it wanting to find her. He frowned when the scent led him to some of the rogues pinning his Luna.
The rogues also caught the scents of their mates and were distracted by the excitement of the wolves that their grip around Gaia went loose and Kora seized the opportunity to pounce on them and break free. She leaps and sends a fire blast at Dmitri trying to create a path to get to Darren.
The shifters got back to their senses after she had broken free and went after her ignoring the call of the mate bond. When Mateo and Ezra saw this, they too wasted no time tackling them down. If they could ignore the mate bond so could they. They would choose a person whom they did not know over the one whom they knew even if that person was a mate.
The beasts of Ezra and Mateo caught their respective and felt the sparks of the maye bond that almost made them change their minds about ignoring the call but seeing as the women themselves were not willing to stop and still tried to attack Kora their decision became more firm.
The she-wolves fought with them trying to push through and go after Gaia once Ezra let out a tired sigh at the decision that he had to take. He back to his human skin and held his maye in a way that forced her to shift to her human skin too.
Mateo did the same and they stared at the women who look almost the same like they were one person, identical in every way except for their scents. "Let go." They yelled. They struggled and scratched but Ezra and Mateo didn’t lose their grips.
They closed their eyes to savor the sparks and the feeling of having their mates in their arms. It was blissful. It was a feeling that they wished to last but with the way they acted it wouldn’t get them anywhere. "You feel it too, don’t you?" Ezra asked his mate who was stubbornly trying to break free. "Don’t act like you don’t." He didn’t care if she was a rogue or not if she agreed then he will let her live and they could start anew.
"Don’t listen to him," said her sister who was being held by Mateo said, and with that, Matro knew there was no point in trying to talk to her. He snapped her neck and let her fall to the ground with a thud.
When her sister saw this, she created and wriggled out of Ezra’s hold and then turned to attack him. Left with no other choice, he snapped her neck too. There was no use in keeping someone who was not willing to accept your feelings.
