Chapter 184: Kaelan Vs Demon (2)

Kaelan ignored him. He extended one of his daggers. Darkness gathered around its blade.

[Second Fang]

[Night Pursuit]

He poured an enormous amount of mana into the technique.

Countless black serpents, each several meters long, erupted from the ground.

They rushed toward the demon from every direction.

The demon remained expressionless.

"Hmph."

He slowly raised one hand.

A massive gray magic circle appeared beneath his feet.

[Gravity Field]

Boom!

The surrounding space suddenly became unbearably heavy.

The darkness collapsed unnaturally.

The grass flattened instantly.

Even the nearby trees groaned beneath the overwhelming pressure.

Kaelan’s concentration was disrupted.

His body abruptly sank.

"Ghh...!"

His knees nearly touched the ground. Every muscle screamed in agony. It felt as though an invisible mountain had been placed upon his shoulders.

Even lifting his daggers became difficult.

The demon slowly approached.

Each step felt impossibly heavy.

Crunch.

Crunch.

Crunch.

"You’re a talented young man."

His cold voice echoed throughout the forest.

"No wonder they want you dead."

"But..."

"You’re still far too inexperienced."

Kaelan gritted his teeth.

His muscles bulged as he forced himself back upright.

Black mana erupted around him once again.

Then a massive Black Star formed behind him and rapidly expanded.

This time, he used his Innate Ability far more aggressively.

Normally, he created the Black Star inside his body to absorb mana.

But now he manifested it outside himself on a much larger scale.

Its attractive force increased dramatically.

Loose mana from the Gravity Field began rushing toward him. The overwhelming pressure weakened but only slightly.

Veins bulged across Kaelan’s arms.

Blood seeped from the corner of his mouth. His muscles trembled violently. The strain was becoming unbearable.

’Damn it...I’m reaching my limit!’

The demon noticed immediately.

"Overusing your ability?"

A cruel smile spread across his face.

"Then let me finish this."

Gray mana exploded from his body.

The entire forest trembled.

Leaves, stones, broken branches, and debris rose into the air under the terrifying pull of gravity.

The demon slowly raised his sword.

Dense gray mana coated the blade. Gradually the mana condensed into a solid, razor-sharp edge surrounding the weapon.

It gleamed with an eerie gray radiance.

An overwhelming amount of mana erupted from his body. The surrounding space distorted. Even the air itself seemed to grow heavier.

Kaelan’s instincts screamed at him.

This attack...

’If it lands...I’ll die instantly I won’t even be able to teleport back to the base.’

Sweat rolled down his forehead as he tightened his grip on his twin daggers.

Despite knowing the enormous gap between them.

He still refused to lower his weapons.

Mana surged around Kaelan’s twin daggers as black darkness wrapped tightly around both blades.

He was ready to harm himself before that attack would kill him. So he could teleport back to the base.

"Now... die!" the demon roared.

But before the demon could swing his sword.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Multiple ice weapons shot toward him at tremendous speed.

The demon sensed the incoming danger instantly. He immediately changed directions and swung his sword horizontally.

A slash formed from compressed gravitational energy tore through the air.

Crack!

Boom!

Every ice weapon was sliced apart and shattered upon contact.

The slash continued forward with terrifying force, cleanly cutting through several massive ancient trees behind them.

Crack!

BOOM!!

The towering trees began crashing to the ground.

At the very same moment, something erupted from beneath the ground where the demon had been standing.

His instincts screamed at him.

Without even having time to reinforce himself with mana, he leaped into the air.

Sharp, gigantic spikes of ice burst from the earth, piercing toward the sky where he had stood only an instant earlier.

At the same time, a massive sphere of blazing fire shot out from the forest and rushed toward the demon.

"What the hell?!" the demon shouted in shock as he twisted his body to face the incoming fireball.

Stomp!

Stomp!

Stomp!

Rapid footsteps echoed through the forest.

Someone sprinted from behind the demon.

Emerging from behind a giant tree was Noah.

At that moment, he was holding a sword.

Its blade was coated in beautiful, crystal-blue ice that shimmered beneath the fading evening light.

Without wasting a second, Noah swung the sword in a smooth horizontal arc.

Slash!

A razor-thin compressed slash of freezing frost silently shot through the air.

"Fuck!"

Kaelan refused to let the opportunity slip away.

He immediately conjured another spell.

Several dark projectiles condensed from pure darkness and blasted toward the demon.

Everything happened far too quickly.

The demon had almost no time to react.

"Shit!!"

He bent one knee as a gray magic circle appeared beneath his feet.

The gravity around his body instantly lessened.

Using the reduced weight to his advantage, he launched himself high into the sky.

BOOM!!!

The three attacks collided exactly where the demon had been standing only moments earlier.

A tremendous explosion erupted, sending violent shockwaves in every direction.

But Noah had prepared much more than that.

Dozens of ice weapons were still floating high above the battlefield.

The sword vanished from Noah’s right hand as his spear instantly appeared in its place.

He extended his left hand forward.

"Arrghhh!!"

The moment Noah saw the demon leap into the air, he commanded three ice swords and two ice spears to close the distance and wound him. If not kill him outright. At the same time he started to conjured a new spell.

The demon swung his sword desperately.

Slash!

Slash!

He managed to destroy two of the incoming swords.

Thud!

One ice sword pierced straight through his thigh.

Another ice spear tore across his cheek, leaving behind a deep, bloody cut.

The final spear slashed across his right arm, carving a long wound through the flesh.

Blood splattered through the air.

Seeing the demon beginning to fall back toward the ground, Noah immediately shouted,

"Kaelan! Myra! Prepare your attacks! Don’t give this demon any chance or time to recover!"

Mana rapidly poured out of Noah’s body as a large blue ice magic circle formed on the ground exactly where the demon was about to land.

For the past few months, Noah had focused almost entirely on mastering weapon arts...

But he had still learned one new spell.

Now was the perfect moment to use it.

His Adaptive Learning not only allowed him to learn techniques faster, but also enabled him to adapt continuously during battle.

Because of that, his combat growth far exceeded that of ordinary people.

The magic circle flashed brilliantly.

A violent storm of freezing winds and razor-sharp ice shards erupted across the area where the demon landed.

"ARGHHHH!!"

The demon was instantly caught inside the raging blizzard as he fell down.

Using his gravity affinity, he attempted to suppress the storm and calm the raging winds.

But before he could break free, three blazing fire lances shot directly toward him. They had been cast by Myra, who had finally emerged from the forest.

At the same time, Kaelan crossed his twin daggers.

Slash!

Two crescent-shaped blades of darkness formed an X as they shot toward the trapped demon.

This time every attack struck perfectly.

BOOOOM!!!
