Chapter 485: Sulyvhan & Loriel vs Demonic Prince
"Ready for a second round, Archangel?" he asked, his silver pupils shining with excitement.
Loriel deployed her wings, an ice lance in each hand. "As long as you do not let me down, Emperor... the dance continues."
...
The tide of lesser demons swept in, with disproportionate limbs, salivating jaws and eyes injected with hatred.
Faced with this apocalypse, Alexander Sulyvhan remained motionless, his long silver hair whipping the air charged with ashes and sulfur. His silver pupils, lodged in the heart of ebony black sclerae, fixed on the horde with surgical neutrality.
At his side, the Archangel Loriel deployed her sapphire wings, her armor of light casting iridescent reflections on the surrounding carnage.
"They are annoying..." murmured Sulyvhan, his voice being a calm whisper that cut through the clamor of screams. "Let me clear the way, Archangel."
Loriel let out a melodious laugh but tinged with a hint of cruelty. "you give me orders Alexander ~ ? Keep this arrogance for the Prince."
Sulyvhan did not respond. He activated his Eye of Perception, plunging the battlefield into a gray stasis where each demon wing beat seemed to last an eternity. The energy contained in his aura core began to overflow, a metaphysical pressure so dense that the ground under his boots turned into a network of cracks.
Suddenly, he unleashed his aura.
Sulyvhan did not move his arms. He simply swept the horizon with a simple glance. In a fraction of a second, multiple silver slashes, of molecular fineness, cut the lesser demons by the hundreds. It was the very essence of Sundering Eclipse carried to its paroxysm: the ability to slash reality itself by simple intention.
The heads of the ghouls flew in perfect circular arcs, the torsos of hobgoblins were sectioned cleanly, revealing intestines that emptied onto the ground even before the bodies touched the ground. The demonic blood, black and viscous, gushed in fountains, creating a fetid mist of death.
"Impressive..." noted Loriel, her silver eyes shining with a gleam of fascination. "My turn, then."
The Archangel leaped into the air, her voluptuous silhouette standing out against the blood-red sky. She joined her hands, and the surrounding arcane mana crystallized instantly.
"Arcane Magic: Eternal Ice Whirlwinds!"
Vast spirals of bluish frost sprang from her palms, swirling with furious speed. The ice whirlwinds began to shred the demons that had survived Sulyvhan’s slashes. The metal of the demonic armors shattered under the bite of absolute cold, and the monsters’ limbs were crushed like fragile glass. Loriel followed with extremely sharp wind attacks, blades of pressurized air that decapitated the survivors with terrifying grace.
Quickly, the two arrived in front of the demonic prince.
Bathym, the Prince of Fear, was waiting for them, his four remaining arms waving furiously while his purple mana boiled around him.
"MORTAL! ARCHANGEL! YOUR EXISTENCE ENDS HERE!" roared Bathym, his voice making Sulyvhan’s ribcage vibrate.
Bathym struck first, his four fists falling in a series of gravitational percussions. Sulyvhan used a lateral Dash to slide between the impacts, his body being a silver trail that brushed against destruction. He countered with a Sharp Cut aiming at the Prince’s plexus, but Bathym created a wall of solidified demonic mana that absorbed the shock.
Loriel, synchronized with the emperor’s movements, appeared above the demon. "Arcane: Celestial Ice Lances!" Dozens of ice darts pierced Bathym’s shoulders, forcing him to one knee.
"Alexander, now!" she shouted, her voice being a mix of authority and urgency.
Sulyvhan understood without another word being necessary.
"Let’s finish this, Prince of vermin."
Sulyvhan activated the Aura Coating to its maximum, his muscles swelling under the pressure of his Art. The chains of his twin katanas, the white and the black, sank deeper into his flesh, pumping his vitality to saturate the blades with unstable energy.
Bathym tried to get up, invoking an explosion of demonic mana to push them back, but Loriel was faster.
Finally, Loriel planted an ice lance in his heart.
The weapon of pure frost crossed the Prince’s obsidian cuirass with a sinister crack. The ice began to spread instantly into Bathym’s circulatory system, freezing his corrupted mana from the inside. The demon let out a howl of agony, his body stiffening under the effect of the arcane cold.
Sulyvhan projected himself forward, using a Dash of such power that the ground behind him was pulverized. His two blades, crossed in an X of death, shone with an unbearable brightness.
< Fourth movement : Full Moon >
The movement was of absolute rapidity. The black steel and the white steel joined at the level of the Prince’s throat.
The massive head of Bathym was sliced cleanly, detaching from the neck in a deathly silence. The demonic blood, partially frozen by Loriel’s attack, spurted in dark crystals before the colossal body collapsed heavily on the basalt, making the entire plain tremble.
Sulyvhan landed nimbly, sheathing his katanas. The chains on his arms retracted slowly, leaving glowing burn marks on his pale skin. He was panting slightly, a thin mist escaping from his lips.
Thus killing the demonic prince of fear.
Silence fell brutally on the Plain of Desolation. Without their leader, the remaining lesser demons fled into the cracks of Tenebris, terrified by the power of the emperor and the Archangel.
Loriel landed near him, her wings folding with royal elegance. She observed Bathym’s decapitated corpse with sovereign disdain, then turned her silver eyes towards Sulyvhan.
"A perfect execution, Alexander ~" she murmured, approaching him until her perfume of jasmine and ozone erased the smell of sulfur. "It seems that our relationship of trust is progressing faster than expected."
Sulyvhan looked at her coldly, although a glimmer of mutual respect was now undeniable in the depths of his pupils. "Do not be mistaken, Loriel. I killed a Prince because he was in my way. Not to please the angels, I still do not trust you."
Loriel laughed softly, placing a gloved hand on his bloodied chest. "It is precisely what makes you so delicious. A human who refuses to kneel."
