Chapter 471: Sulyvhan the Conqueror (2)
The steel screamed against bone and flesh as the Black Plain soaked up a fetid mixture of human blood and demonic bile. Sulyvhan stood at the center of the cyclone of violence, his long silver hair whipping the air saturated with ashes. His eyes showed no fatigue despite the hours of fierce combat. Every movement of his blade was a death sentence. Around him, his regular troops, led by Ashborn and Stavenger, held the lines with iron discipline, but the tide of monsters seemed inexhaustible.
Suddenly, a dull vibration ran through the ground, different from the trampling of the hobgoblins. The purple sky tore under the impact of four meteors of pure mana. Four balls of energy, each glowing with a distinct color, sliced through the clouds of blood to crash with unheard-of violence only a few meters from Sulyvhan. The shockwave pulverized a dozen minor demons that were trying to encircle the human leader, reducing them to a dust of charred bone and flesh.
Basalt dust rose in dense swirls, briefly masking the new arrivals. Sulyvhan did not move, contenting himself with smoothing his hair back with a nonchalant gesture, ignoring the debris raining around him.
"You are finally here," said Sulyvhan in a low voice, but one that carried distinctly through the clamor of the battlefield.
Silence briefly fell over the impact zone as the dust began to dissipate, revealing four imposing silhouettes. On the left, a man of colossal stature held a dragon-bone greatsword; to his right, a woman of icy beauty, whose silver armor hugged the athletic curves of her figure, adjusted her guard.
"The journey took us longer than expected," replied a calm male voice.
It was General Dantalion who had just spoken, his white cape barely touched by the dust of the crash. Sulyvhan pointed his blade toward the front line where the demons were beginning to regroup, sensing the arrival of these new heavy reinforcements.
"In that case, get to work," spoke Sulyvhan, his gaze hardening.
He took a step forward, and suddenly, his aura exploded. A gray and stifling pressure extended over several hundred meters, forcing the nearest monsters to kneel with a crunch of broken vertebrae.
"Draken, Kaelen, Pendragon, Dantalion... Order from your leader: leave no survivors," ordered Sulyvhan as his aura intensified.
The four of the seven generals, pillars of what would become the legendary families, exchanged a glance before fixing their eyes on the horde. The man with dark hair and armor, the representative of the Draken, sketched a carnivorous smile while cracking his knuckles.
"No need to say it, we know what to do," Draken replied with a smirk.
After saying that, the four warriors each moved in an opposite direction, becoming trails of light and shadow through the enemy ranks. Pendragon triggered a gravitational impulse that flattened a battalion of hobgoblins before incinerating them. Kaelen disappeared in a blur of speed, his blade tracing arcs that detached the heads of demons with disconcerting ease.
As for Sulyvhan, he ignored the peripheral carnage to fix his gaze on a silhouette standing alone in the distance, on a promontory of vitrified rock. It was a demon of noble stature, enveloped in a purple mana aura, possessing three twisted horns pointing toward the bloody sky.
’So it is you who directs this masquerade...’ thought Sulyvhan.
Bending his knees, he accumulated a colossal amount of aura in his legs. The basalt ground fractured under his boots before he leaped, shooting straight toward his target. He covered the half-kilometer distance in a fraction of a second, leaving behind a trail of burnt dust.
Barely arrived at the top of the promontory, he collided with the demon that possessed three horns.
The shock was such that a circular shockwave swept the plain, knocking over friends and enemies in its path. Their blades clashed in a crackle of violet and silver sparks. The demon, whose eyes burned with millennial hatred, displayed an expression of surprise before the brute force of this mortal.
"You’re fast, human. What’s your name?" growled the demon in a guttural language, his muscles taut beneath his ebony skin.
Sulyvhan did not reply. Being at his peak, his mind was already analyzing the opponent’s force vectors. Condensing an unstable mass of demonic energy in his free hand, the demon attacked Sulyvhan with an impulse meant to pulverize his plexus.
Sulyvhan easily dodged with a simple pivot of his hips, the energy discharge crashing against a rocky wall behind him, turning it into a pile of smoking rubble. Taking advantage of his opponent’s momentum, Sulyvhan began a surgical counterattack.
Then the two engaged in a combat of pure sword technique.
It was no longer a demonstration of brute power, but a deadly ballet of parries and ripostes. The demon wielded a long curved sword whose blade seemed made of solidified darkness. With each blow, Sulyvhan’s white blade slid over the demon’s to redirect the force before launching a lightning thrust.
The demon attempted a horizontal reverse aimed at Sulyvhan’s neck, but the latter ducked with a millimeter-precise economy of movement, the blade whistling above his silver hair. Sulyvhan responded with an ascending cut.

Sulyvhan’s steel left a trail of white light in the air, slicing the demonic plate armor at the ribs. A trickle of black blood escaped from the wound, but the demon ignored the pain, leaping backward to recreate a safe distance.
"Your technique is..." alerted the demon.
Sulyvhan sketched a mocking smile, a character trait that would remain engraved in his soul for centuries to come. "Do not concern yourself with my technique, since you are going to die."
He returned to guard, his sword now vibrating with his aura. The high-ranking demon then understood that he was not facing a normal being.
The duel resumed with redoubled intensity, under the red sky of the Black Plain, surrounded by the massacre perpetrated by the generals. Sulyvhan chained feints, his feet barely touching the ground.
