Chapter 159: Ch-159: Familiar Faces

"Sigh, it’s going to take a lot of time to kill all the monsters here. I can sense thousands of monsters in this place," Vicor muttered with a grim expression as he emerged from the shadows and observed the nearby monsters.

"Hmm, at least I will have more souls to harvest."

As he walked deeper into the area, he casually killed some insignificant monsters with his gravity manipulation. However, before he could venture any farther, his movements came to an abrupt halt and his pupils widened as he spotted two figures surrounded by humanoid spiders.

-----

Two beautiful females were surrounded by a group of Tier 0 Spider Soldiers and Tier 1 Humanoid Spiders, who looked at the girls with mocking expressions

.

"Damn, if I weren’t injured, do they really think they could have cornered us like this?" Emily looked at the beasts with hatred. Her entire maid uniform was stained with her own blood, and her face was pale as though she were on the verge of death. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Rina Hall bit her lips and looked around with despair. Almost every soldier she had brought with her was dead except for Emily.

Is it my fault that we’re going to die? she thought despairingly.

Now, how did they end up in such a situation?

Well, after they had managed to clear the monsters near their territory, she informed her father about the Mechs and obtained permission to travel to Silvernum Territory after great effort persuading him.

According to the information they had received, the Forest of Darkness had been absorbed into Silvernum Territory. However, when they entered, they were greeted by a nest of mutated spiders.

At first, they thought it wasn’t a big deal, as most of the monsters were only Tier 0, and things were going smoothly. But when they arrived at the center, they froze in fear upon encountering two Tier 4 monsters.

Without thinking twice, Emily grabbed Rina and ran.

Perhaps it was their luck that the Tier 4 monsters seemed more interested in birthing additional spider beasts than pursuing them directly, so they merely sent a Tier 3 monster after them.

Emily managed to kill many Tier 2 pursuers and even slew the Tier 3 spider monster, but she suffered grievous injuries in the process and could barely move her body. Now they were completely surrounded.

The humanoid ant that appeared to be the leader stepped forward and spoke with an air of authority.

"As our targets, you have three choices:

1 — Decide the order in which you’ll fight.

2 — Attempt to escape.

3 — Give up and allow us to capture you."

Hearing the options, both of their faces darkened.

Then their eyes widened.

"You can speak?" Rina asked.

"Of course I can. If you inferior humans can speak, why can’t we?" the leader sneered.

"Miss Rina, please escape. I will hold them off," Emily said through gritted teeth as she looked at Rina.

She knew she was going to die today, but she still wanted Rina to escape. If Rina could somehow reach Silvernum Territory, she could buy enough time for her father to come and save her.

"No way, I won’t leave you," Rina said firmly and signaled, "We choose the first option."

"Miss—" Emily said through gritted teeth, getting angry at her recklessness.

Woosh

But before they could react, a fireball shot toward the spiders.

The spider instinctively felt mortal danger and hurriedly moved out of the way, shouting into the distance, "Who?!"

Even Emily and Rina looked toward the distance as Vicor stepped out.

Victor didn’t wait for the spiders to summon their opponent. He stretched out both his hands and waved. The next moment, a bird made of black flames materialized in front of everyone.

"What is this?" the humanoid spider spoke, struck with uneasiness, as if he were facing death itself.

"Oh!" Rina and Emily stared at the flaming bird in awe. As the heat grew stronger, Emily pulled Rina back and said "Move. That thing is dangerous."

"Go!" Victor uttered.

The flaming bird shot toward the Tier 1 spiders at breakneck speed, burning everything in its path in a fraction of a second.

Whoosh

The phoenix unleashed a wave of black flames toward the spiders.

Everything within a one-kilometer radius was reduced to cinders, including the mutated spiders, who lost their lives without even realizing how.

’Amazing!’ Rina thought.

’Heavens, this guy is so strong—maybe even stronger than Duke,’ Emily broke out in cold sweat. She did not think that even if she were uninjured, she could harm him. The next moment, her eyes nearly popped out of their sockets when she used a detection item. ’Holy... this guy is just Tier 1. How is this possible?’

Vicor did not pay attention to them as he looked at the surviving spiders.

"All right, kill all the Tier 0 enemies," Vicor muttered, and the next moment the shadow beneath his feet began to ripple. About a hundred wolves with glowing golden markings appeared along with Lilith.

"W-What are these?" Emily’s heart trembled in fear as she saw the soldiers of darkness emerging from his shadows, and her wariness doubled instantly.

On the other hand, Rina was looking at him with a frown. ’Where have I seen him before? His aura feels familiar’

"Go... Attack. Exterminate every last one of them," he ordered.

The shadows immediately began to move, launching the attack upon their king’s command.

The spiders were surprised and immediately began to roar, putting the entire nest on alert. The enemy was coming. There were at least a hundred of them, and a hundred shadows wouldn’t be enough to scare them off, so they prepared to counterattack as well.

A large group charged forward, roaring at the approaching shadows. Some had bodies of elephants, cheetahs, etc., but the head was that of a spider.

"Attack!" Lilith shouted in excitement.

All the shadows advanced without hesitation, but it was their commander who led the charge. Lilith appeared before the first spider, slicing off its head before it even realized it was dead.
