Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Jane Lancaster Will Definitely Be Scolded This Time
Jane Lancaster had been looking forward to getting home and dealing with Alvin Lancaster, but the car ended up taking them to The Crestwood Hotel.
Who knows what Julian Lancaster was thinking, or perhaps he was just too tired, but he had the car change course midway.
After all, Jane Lancaster was still recovering. With so much happening today, she fell asleep before the car even reached the hotel.
The car drove all the way to the hotel and was about to turn onto the valet platform at the main entrance when Julian Lancaster suddenly spoke up, "Keep driving forward."
The driver was stunned for a moment, but he still followed the order and continued on.
The car wound its way another three kilometers before turning through an inconspicuous little gate and entering the hotel’s villa area.
Calvin Cole looked up, sizing up the three-story villa in front of him. This villa faced the lake, offering a better view than the others, and was perfectly suited for a relaxing getaway.
’To build such a villa in the heart of the city, where every inch of land is gold, was a real case of having too much money to burn.’
Julian Lancaster was a pragmatist. His presidential suite in the main hotel building, though extravagant, was very suitable for work because it was close to the CBD.
Sometimes, when dealing with confidential projects, Julian Lancaster would have his team live and work out of that presidential suite to prevent leaks.
The presidential suite came with a master bedroom, a secondary suite, a room for elders, and even butler’s quarters. Housing seven or eight people was no problem at all.
As his trusted confidant, Calvin Cole had naturally stayed in the presidential suite before.
He even had keycard access to the presidential suite.
"Jay, wake up. We’re at the villa," Julian Lancaster said, shaking his sister’s shoulder.
"The young lady has fallen asleep. Why don’t I carry her inside?" Calvin Cole said, rolling up his shirt sleeves.
Julian Lancaster hesitated for a moment. Suddenly, a hand reached in from the side, steadied Jane Lancaster by the arm, and swept her up.
"I’ll do it." Jasper Sterling had clearly just gotten off work. He gave Julian Lancaster a nod and then carried her into the house.
After placing Jane Lancaster on the bed, Jasper Sterling finally spoke. "Julian, next time, please take the shuttle."
Outside vehicles weren’t normally allowed in the villa area; he had only made an exception for Julian Lancaster’s sake.
After saying this, he closed the door and walked out, his attitude less than enthusiastic.
Julian Lancaster stood where he was for a moment before finding an empty room and settling in.
—
The next morning, Jane Lancaster walked out of the study and saw Calvin Cole.
Julian Lancaster was sleeping in a little long due to jet lag. Seeing that it was getting late, Calvin Cole needed to discuss something with Jane Lancaster.
In fact, he had arrived an hour ago. He’d wanted to go into the study to do some work, but he hadn’t expected Jane Lancaster to be in there, so he had to leave.
But now, with time running short, he had no choice but to talk to Jane Lancaster.
"Miss Lancaster, we have a meeting soon..." Calvin Cole said, his tone respectful.
After last night’s punishment, he now understood the young lady’s importance to the Eldest Young Master.
The siblings’ bond was as strong as ever; it was he who had been presumptuous.
Jane Lancaster said, "Oh, if you have a meeting, then go have it."
Calvin Cole hadn’t expected such a reaction from her and had to be more specific. "We need to use the study in a bit..."
Besides, they had to set up and test the equipment before the Eldest Young Master came down. There was no room for error.
Jane Lancaster: "Nope, I need to use it too."
Calvin Cole was a bit surprised. ’She needs to use it too? What could she possibly be doing in such a large study all by herself?’
’What could possibly be more important than their work meeting?’
’Even in the past, Jane Lancaster would have given way voluntarily instead of making a scene and delaying their meeting.’
"Miss Lancaster, please don’t joke around. We’re really running out of time..." Calvin Cole said, glancing at his watch and starting to get anxious.
Calvin Cole was the one who had arranged today’s meeting.
He had specifically chosen the villa’s study as the meeting location so that Julian Lancaster could rest a little longer.
This way, he could set up the equipment and then go wake Julian Lancaster up. The timing was perfectly planned.
He had even calculated the timing and sent a message telling Lucy Finch and the others to come to the hotel early.
Everything had been arranged perfectly. He never would have imagined running into Jane Lancaster, this roadblock.
"If you’re out of time, you should hurry and find a new place. Wouldn’t my brother’s presidential suite work?" Jane Lancaster said with a look of surprise.
Her sudden refusal to be reasoned with was starting to make Calvin Cole agitated.
"Miss Lancaster, this is an international conference call about wrapping up an overseas project. It’s extremely important," he said, his tone turning serious.
’The Eldest Young Master has already returned to back her up, and I’ve been punished. What more could she be unhappy about?’
’If this is to test the Eldest Young Master’s attitude, she’s taking it too far. There’s no way he would allow her to cause such a ruckus.’
Calvin Cole took a deep breath and said forcefully, "My apologies, Miss Lancaster, for the offense. I will make it up to you later."
With that, he walked straight into the study and started to gather the things Jane Lancaster had spread out on the long table.
Mama Knight, both shocked and angry, rushed in to stop him. "Special Assistant Cole, don’t touch the young lady’s things!"
"It’s no use acting rashly. Without my authorization, you won’t even be able to turn on the equipment," Jane Lancaster said.
Calvin Cole frowned. "What do you mean, *your* authorization?"
"It means this is my house. It’s in my name. A house that belongs to me and me alone."
Calvin Cole stared at her in astonishment. He had always assumed this villa was Julian Lancaster’s property.
’Why so surprised? Looks like he really isn’t attentive enough, not even knowing this.’
Calvin Cole’s phone suddenly rang.
"Special Assistant Cole, have you and the Eldest Young Master arrived? The meeting is about to start." As soon as he answered, Lucy Finch’s urgent voice came through.
"Where are you?" Calvin Cole asked, momentarily stunned.
"What are you talking about? We’re in the Eldest Young Master’s presidential suite, of course!"
Wasn’t it obvious? Whenever the Eldest Young Master was at The Crestwood Hotel, meetings were always held in the study of his presidential suite.
Calvin Cole hung up the phone. Looking at the person beaming in front of him, he felt a little dizzy as he suddenly understood what had happened.
"Why didn’t you tell me earlier?" Calvin Cole asked, his voice strained.
He had arrived so early, waited in the living room for an hour, and yet Jane Lancaster had said nothing, just watching him make a fool of himself.
Jane Lancaster spread her hands. "I did tell you. I told you to go to my brother’s presidential suite."
’Calvin Cole is still too eager for quick success. After getting punished last night, he was afraid of being overshadowed by Lucy Finch, so he was desperate to prove himself.’
’Little does he know that Julian Lancaster was just putting on an act and was planning to promote him at the end of the year.’
’But out of jealousy for Lucy Finch, he secretly colludes with the Jenson Family and leaks confidential information about a project she’s in charge of.’
On the staircase, Julian Lancaster stood silently, his expression unreadable.
Realizing he’d been played by the person in front of him, Calvin Cole turned to leave and call for the shuttle.
But he couldn’t just let it go. He stopped and said, "Miss Lancaster, by doing this, aren’t you afraid of angering the Eldest Young Master?"
’I’m going to be held accountable, but you, acting so willfully and causing trouble—do you really think you’ll leave a good impression on the Eldest Young Master?’
’Really? That would be great! I’m just waiting for Julian Lancaster to turn on me!’
Jane Lancaster’s eyes curved into a deep smile. Just as she was about to speak, she heard a voice.
"Jay."
Hearing the voice, Calvin Cole looked toward Julian Lancaster with anticipation. ’The Eldest Young Master must have heard everything!’
’No one knew the extent of Julian Lancaster’s dedication to his work. Jane Lancaster was definitely going to get a scolding this time!’
